[Bug 41427] Re: "slow keys" can turn on surreptitiously & cause confusion.
I was hit by this on 12.04 with Xfce (not sure if this belongs in a different bug), which doesn't seem to have any way to permanently disable from its config panel. Took we a while to figure out how to type at all in order to search for what I'd done -- and it was very difficult to hold the key exactly the length required (which was very long, much more than I'd expect would be required for someone who's having trouble with accidental adjacent keypresses), but not long enough to trigger autorepeat (I have the repeat delay set to the 250 ms that used to be standard, but even the now-for-some-reason-default 500 ms or so would probably be too short compared to the very long initial delay). It also seems perverse that a feature that requires you to hold keys down for a long time as part of normal use, would be disabled by holding a certain key down for a long time. I agree with those that say it should be disabled by default -- especially if it's not going to even ask for confirmation via a dialog box. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41427 Title: "slow keys" can turn on surreptitiously & cause confusion. [Bug 1025119] Re: Exporting photos fails due to file error
Hi TZ, I'm one of the Shotwell devs. To resolve your problem, I think you should do two things. First, Shotwell 0.11.6 is now nearly a year old. The current version of Shotwell is 0.12.3. So simply upgrading Shotwell may solve your problem. You can learn more about how to upgrade here: http://www.yorba.org/shotwell/install.html. If upgrading doesn't fix your problem, then we'll need some diagnostic information about why these files are not being exported. Shotwell includes a built-in logging facility. To learn how to enable diagnostic logging, see the "I found a bug in Shotwell. How can I report it?" section of the Shotwell FAQ here: http://redmine.yorba.org/projects/shotwell/wiki/ShotwellFAQ. When Shotwell is run with logging on, it will produce a log file that you can attach to this ticket. [Bug 1024800] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 switches to Chinese language
I had the same problem after a fresh install of a 32-bit ubuntu 12.04. With the hints mentioned by the original poster the language can be restored, but in my case the language change came back multiple time which was really annoying. I figured that apparently there is an automatically installed and non- removable entry of Chinese in the Keyboard Layout config menu in system settings. If you just open this config menu, click through all the tabs and return to the language tab, the first entry of the list will be selected, which is Chinese if you haven't installed any other language alphabetically listed before. Thus the bug seems to be connected to the Keyboard Layout config dialog which wrongly selects the first entry instead of the currently set language. Workaround: Avoid the Keyboard Layout config dialog or if you have to use it, always make sure you mark your preferred language in the list under the Language tab before closing the dialog. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024800 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 switches to Chinese language To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1024800/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 997017] Re: Empathy not connecting to Gtalk
This is happening to me also. Doing the steps in #20 makes no difference. Ubuntu proxy settings are set to auto-detect, configuration URL empty. Case 1: Home where I don't have a proxy - Empathy works as expected. Case 2: Work WITH (squid) proxy - Empathy cannot sign in "no reason specified" Case 3: Work, changed settings to NO proxy (I have special network access). Empathy works as expected. Case 4: Work WITH proxy, changed settings so that configuration URL set - Empathy works as expected. Summary: When network settings are set to auto-detect the proxy, Empathy does not query for/use the configuration URL if it isn't set. Result: gtalk/xmpp/others? fail to log in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997017 Title: Empathy not connecting to Gtalk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/997017/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 896595] Re: Ubuntu does not remember LID brightness
I'm gonna have to stop using Ubuntu because of this bug. All my displays are getting burn-in from the high brightness. I thought LCD screens were immune to burn in, but I've been proven wrong. The Launcher has been burned into my screen. The firefox URL bar as well. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, cause I'm gonna have to start using Windows until this is fixed. I don't want to damage my screen any more than it already is. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/896595 Title: Ubuntu does not remember LID brightness To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/896595/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Can't you simply rename the title of this bug in order to preserve its history and the people affected? Also, I never mentioned that the problem is related to a swedish keyboard, which I do not use. So far it seems to be affecting every non-U.S layout I've tested.
