[Bug 998445] Re: ComboBoxText does not work anymore

2012-08-21 Thread EdorFaus
I've written a patch that fixes this. It's a one-line change, only
changing which constructor is called - it was calling the one for
ComboBox instead of ComboBoxText; from my log reading, that change was
probably done accidentally during an API change.

This patch is written on top of current git master, so should be easily
upstreamable, but also works on top of the package currently in LMDE
latest (3.2.0-1). (I tested that by adding the patch to
debian/patches/series and rebuilding, which succeded, and the resulting
package has this fixed.)

** Patch added: Simple patch that fixes the bug.

2012-08-21 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

In the Ubuntu 12.04 (up to date as of 21st of August, 2012) it is not
possible to remove CTRL+ALT+T shortcut.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Press CTRL+ALT+T - Terminal launches.
2. Go to System Settings.
3. Select Keyboard - Shortcuts - Custom Shortcuts
4. Remove Launch Terminal shortcut assignment.
5. Close settings window.
6. Press CTRL+ALT+T - Terminal STILL launches.

[Bug 775345] Re: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences

2012-08-21 Thread Creigh Hobson
I am glad to see this bug because I reached my end about 5 min ago.

I have the exact behavior as is described above, i.e. usb headset and no
devices listed in the input and output tabs of the sound manager, but I
possibly have 2 added complications. No 1, I am running ubuntu precise
(12.04) and No 2, I am running a ltsp version with the client needing to
see the usb headset (We have a callcenter to which we will roll out this
setup). I cannot sudo from the client as the server holds the user
permissions, and the server does not reflect any pulseaudio processes,
even if I chroot the image directory. I don't want to fluff the issue
here, but if there is any help of any kind it will be one step further
than I am now.

My device registers as (dmesg):

[Bug 1039476] [NEW] gtk_menu_new_from_model doesn't support custom menu items

2012-08-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

indicator-messages is the first indicator that uses GMenuModel instead
of Dbusmenu to send its menus to the panel. Its panel plugin uses
gtk_menu_new_from_model to create a GtkMenu widget from a GMenuModel.

Most of the menu items in the messaging menu are custom widgets (to show
icons, message counts, and the application-is-running triangles).
However, gtk_menu_new_from_model always creates GtkCheckMenuItems.

The attached patch solves this problem by introducing a new menu item
attribute (x-canonical-type). The value of this attribute should be a
valid GType name (as passed to g_type_from_name). An instance of this
type is created to represent the menu item if the type is a subclass of
GtkMenuItem and it has these two properties:

  - menu-item: a GMenuItem from which to build the item
  - action-group: a GActionGroup which contains the action for this menu item

indicator-messages already depends on this patch and is a first test-
case for this API.

The patch doesn't introduce new public functions. x-canonical-type
should be considered private for now.

** Affects: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1039506] [NEW] Gnome does not properly detect battery

2012-08-21 Thread Pedro Nariyoshi
Public bug reported:

Hi all,

Recently my battery stopped being detected on gnome-power-statistics. So
I went to investigate. I tried to check my battery on
/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0, but I couldn't find it. acpi -b reported that
the battery was present, so I investigated deeper. It seems like the new
/sys interface is being favored and therefore the battery information is
found at:

/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/

Although I'm using RicoTZ's Gnome-testing ppa, his PPA does not include
g-p-m, so I believe that's where I should include the bug.

[Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid - Precise upgrade

2012-08-21 Thread Erick Brunzell
@ Kate Stewart,

I notice just a couple of security updates this AM, along with some
'cups' updates, so I'm wondering what the plan is? I honestly don't see
how we can just release note this :^(

With less than 48 hours to go I'll certainly get a fresh 10.04.4 prepped
for an upgrade test. This is truly the only serious bug I encountered
during 12.04.1 testing :^)

[Bug 382167] Re: LCD backlight flickers when adjusting it and when the system is idle

2012-08-21 Thread Dennis Schridde
I have the same issue on Ubuntu 12.04 with KDE 4:4.8.4a-0ubuntu0.2:
Sometimes the screen becomes very bright and after a while the backlight
starts to flicker and then switches minimum brightness (as configured in
the power management settings).

Also when I use the brightness keys (Fn+Up/Dn), the backlight will often
just start to flicker instead of switching to the intended brightness.
Sometimes it just allows to toggle minimum/maximum brightness, but skips
all steps in between.

The machine is a Samsung N140 with an Intel 945GSE graphics chipset.

Ubuntu 12.04
kdelibs-bin 4:4.8.4a-0ubuntu0.2

[Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid - Precise upgrade

2012-08-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
This would not be specific to 12.04.1; it would also have been present
in 12.04, it's just a little hard to reproduce -- needs just the right
environment to be noticeable.

Erick; mind confirming if at the time you see the dialog from Evolution,
you also see the same kind of behavior (boxes for text) in the nm-applet
indicator, or in the bluetooth indicator? Thanks.

[Bug 1039581] [NEW] Gedit matching brackets highlighting incorrect in some PHP scripts

2012-08-21 Thread Robert Arkenin
Public bug reported:

In certain PHP scripts, the opening of ?php is matched with the first
in the code instead of the ending , possibly because of assignment
operators being treated like closing brackets. See the code below:

1?php
2class ErrorInfo {
3//Some code without less-than or greater-than signs
4$errArray=array(
5 mbStringNotFound = 'The mbstring extension was not found',
6//More code here...
7?

Note that the greater-than sign in the assignment( = ) on line 5 is
matched to the opening on like 1, instead of to the closing ? on line
7.

[Bug 1039604] [NEW] Please re-enable PIE and BIND_NOW

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10 added hardening options to totem, bug Ubuntu 12.04 and
12.10 lost PIE and BIND_NOW. These are important compiler hardening
features that help protect users from malicious content.

This can be seen with the hardening check command:

[Bug 844003] Re: xchat-gnome crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_clipboard_set_contents()

2012-08-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
I can't seems to reproduce this when clicking around try to select text
over and over again in the chat scrolling window. Is there some detail
I'm missing to be able to reproduce this bug?

Looking at the stack trace, disassembly/registers and the gtk code for
that version, seems to me like the issue is the use of
gtk_clipboard_get() to get the clipboard to pass to
gtk_clipboard_set_text() in xtext.c. It would appear as though the
widget window can't be determined, not sure why.

In xchat (not xchat-gnome) similar code, and elsewhere in xchat-gnome,
looks like gtk_widget_get_clipboard() is used instead. Maybe it would be
sufficient to replace the gtk_clipboard_get() call with this to solve
the issue.

The best info I can provide is in those screenshots in the tar.gz in

that might be helpful. The same is true of the original upgrade - still
exists so I can acquire logs. I'm really clueless :^/

[Bug 985119] Re: [soundnua]: doesn't offer 'Analogue stereo Output' option

2012-08-21 Thread Alessio Gaeta
In current version of sound settings dialog (gnome-control-center
3.4.2-0ubuntu0.4) there is no way at all to set the sound card profile
(see screenshot). Maybe it is a PEBKAC, but I really cannot guess how to
set the 'Analogue stereo output' profile, so to completely disable the
internal sound card input.

It is important to me as it seems to be the only way to have an USB
microphone (like a webcam one) working as plugged in. Without this
workaround, at the moment one has to set the USB mic as default source
at each login (a no go for my parents... = audio chat screwed up).

rantOf course, in gnome-shell everything works properly with the
default sound settings menu. It is good to keep things simple, it is
better keep them working./rant

Notes (workaround):
Snippets plugin seemes to exploit pyton-gi-cairo contained modules.
Manually installing package solves the problem.

Fix:
Since snippets is a part of gedit package, python-gi-cairo should be added to
dependencies list.

[Bug 1039686] Re: gedit should depend on python-gi-cairo

2012-08-21 Thread Logan Rosen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed
in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Quantal Quetzal.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU
Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult

2012-08-21 Thread Colin Law
As I understand it unity-2d is to be removed in Quantal(12.10),
emulation of 3d being provided by llvmpipe for hardware that does not
support it, so that Unity (3d) will run. From that point of view it
appears that this bug becomes irrelevant from 12.10. That is unless
there are other use cases.

[Bug 930830] Re: NotifyOSD does not notify when Airplane Mode is enabled/disabled

2012-08-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
There is no notification for this because you should be getting notified
of a connection being disconnected in that case. Regardless, the whole
concept of Airplane mode there (I'll assume it's in the control center),
need to be removed altogether. It has nothing to do with any kind of
airplane mode, is confusing, and just plain doesn't do anything useful
since it only disables wireless, not bluetooth.

Reassigning to gnome-control-center since there is no actual mention of
airplane mode in network-manager at all; we should really remove this
and clean this up so people don't get mislead by that text.

** Package changed: network-manager (Ubuntu) = gnome-control-center
(Ubuntu)

** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided = Medium

** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- NotifyOSD does not notify when Airplane Mode is enabled/disabled
+ Airplane mode doesn't notify and only disables wifi.

[Bug 1039752] Crash report cannot be processed

2012-08-21 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

libgtk-3-common version 3.5.12-0ubuntu1 required, but 3.5.12-0ubuntu2 is
available
libglib2.0-0 version 2.33.8-1+svn2 required, but 2.33.10-0ubuntu3 is available
libgtk-3-0 version 3.5.12-0ubuntu1 required, but 3.5.12-0ubuntu2 is available

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 360970] Re: Multi-monitor - When using two displays with different vertical resolution, icons get lost on the shorter display

2012-08-21 Thread Cas
This is still an issue in Precise with icons being created in the dead-
area and as Gavin found because the mouse issue was fixed it is
impossible to rescue the icons without selecting them all and messing up
entire icon layout on desktop so this bug is now even more annoying.

[Bug 398687] Re: Gnome shutdown dialog timeout cannot be adjusted

2012-08-21 Thread Dan Stoner
I have Ubuntu installed on a Home Theater PC (HTPC) / home file server
but frequently have the video switched to a different component. I do
not have a keyboard nearby at the time. I turn off the HTPC by pushing
the power button on the front of the computer. This triggers the 60
second delay dialog. Before I go to bed at night I would expect to be
able to push the power button and shutdown the computer. Instead, I hit
the button and then have to wait to see what happens. Or, it makes me
switch video input on the TV, then walk across to grab the wireless
keyboard, then confirm that I really wanted to shutdown.

Computers are not always used by everyone in the same way. I do not see
any harm in a configurable timeout value.
