This bug is somewhat related to Bug #96483(nautilus search is horribly slow ). When you do the same things(browser files or search files) via command line it is incredibly quick to show the result. Yes, it's fixed in 12.10. No, this won't ever be fully fixed in 12.04 because it requires Compiz & Unity to be ported from gconf to gsettings. [Bug 882307] Re: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken
Confirmed on 12.04 even after all updates. In my case is just easy to test it. There are 2 ways, one happens always, the other one happens in some cases: Rare Nautilus Case (This happens rarely): 1. Go to nautilus and copy any file/folde you want. 2. Right click on an empty space and see that the Paste option in the context menu is grayed. Note that it is selectible and you can paste, but to see it grayed I would thinks that I did not copy anything. Desktop Case (Always happens. I mean ALWAYS!): 1. On your desktop copy anything there, be it a folder or a file. 2. Right click on an empty space and see that the Paste option in the context menu is grayed. This might have something to do with the fact that Gnome3 removed files/folders from the Desktop. So in Unity maybe some option is not affecting the way a clipboard created from a Desktop object is detected and does not active the Paste option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882307 Title: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/882307/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thanks Jeremy. (No pressure on my part; I just figured I should report it.) Ingo or others, you can set a Custom Keyboard Shortcut in System Settings>Keyboard to get Ctrl+Alt+T to open gnome-terminal. I spent some time yesterday trying to make a gsettings override for custom keyboard shortcuts to restore this default but I haven't been successful yet. [Bug 1041349] [NEW] menu from skype applet flashes twice when opening
Public bug reported: Skype 4.0.0.8 running the Gnome desktop (Unity disabled), Ubuntu 12.04. Single-click on the running Skype icon in the Gnome desktop panel, (which resides in Indicator Applet 0.5.0.) The menu appears, but flashes twice in doing so, unlike the menus of the other applets running there. This isn't just ugly--I've found myself repeatedly clicking the icon, thinking somehow I should do something different to open the menu. (In fact there are further problems rendering the menu under some circumstances.) [Bug 1018718] Re: columns width redrawn by multiple events
I have posted a video on YouTube showing this bug before finding this bug reports (thanks Dino99!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxB5TsqbojM I'm experiencing this on Nautilus 3.5.90 in Quantal up-to-date (Aug. 24th, 2012). I think I can provide some additional info. 1) I do not see the bug when I use a New instance of Nautilus to browse a new, empty directory: sudo killall -s KILL nautilus cd $HOME mkdir nautilus-test cd nautilus-test xdg-open . 2) I do not see the bug if I create files in this new directory sudo killall -s KILL nautilus cd $HOME/nautilus-test //Create some example files touch test1 ls /usr/bin | tee -a ls-output.txt cp /usr/bin/ld ld.bin xdg-open . 3) Resizing the columns does not work: They return to the previous width. As far as I can see, they behave like this: - "Size", "Type", "Modified", "Group", "Location", "Mime Type", "Owner", "Permissions" are set to have as small width as possible. - "Name" takes the entire remaining width. - This widths are refreshed every time you click Nautilus window. 4) As a consequence, one can maximize/minimize the symptoms of this bug by changing the order of (and/or adding/removing) columns (at "Gear Icon", Preferences, List-Columns). If "Name" is the last to the right, for example, the effect is minimized. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1018718 Title: columns width redrawn by multiple events To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1018718/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: When I click the power button on my laptop, the suspend/reboot/shutdown menu shows up. Selecting "suspend" does nothing. The other buttons work. Suspend works if you activate it by closing the lid or by selecting suspend from the top right corner menu. [Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid -> Precise upgrade
Calling attention to this important. Too bad you couldn't get this warnng out without expecting the user to read the release notes. I suspect many upgraders will think "I've been playing with 12.04 - I know what to expect." Some kind of a Don't Panic scren at the start of the upgrade would've been nice. Particularly since the fix will have to wait for 12.04.2 (I think). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038573 Title: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid -> Precise upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1038573/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This is a real bug in g-s-m's .desktop file, it shoudl not have two Keyword= lines. Worked for me too (nautilus 1:3.5.90-0ubuntu1), but only the instant I tried to reproduce it.
