Considering that Ubuntu has kept the same old gst-plugins-bad0.10 source for 3 releases now there doesn't seem much point here in adding grilo. [Bug 1043651] [NEW] Package system broken
Public bug reported: The package system on my install is not working at all. I'm unable to download applications from the software center, via tarballs, or via terminal package install. Haven't tried synaptic, as I'm unable to download it to use it... Obviously, I've tried sudo apt-get -f install and the dpkg configure command, neither to any avail. This has been going on for nearly a month, and it is due to two broken packages 'empathy-common' and 'gnome-sudoku' both of which originally failed to update after a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04. Since then, I've been completely unable to use the package system. I have no 3rd party repo's enabled or anything of the sort. Hi Bilal, I am so sorry that we can't understand each-others, but before filing the bug to Bugzilla, let me try and explain you the problem another time. First of all, we are talking about _natural_ scrolling: if you don't know anything that, please have a look at the following video [1]: it is worth a thousand words. As you probably may know, that behavior is not enabled by default on Ubuntu; however, one can simply use Xmodmap and obtain something similar: let's see how. Inside your Xmodmap configuration file (~user/.Xmodmap) you can map each mouse event to other; for example, the following is the default configuration for the pointer: pointer = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 Imagine each column being the mouse event received, and each value being the overwritten event associated: in this case output events are matching input events without any transformation (i.e. left-click is a left-click, scroll-up is scroll-up and so forth). Let's see how to enable _natural_ scrolling knowing that event 4 and 5 are for scroll up and down, while 6 and 7 are for left and right scroll: pointer = 1 2 3 5 4 7 6 8 9 10 11 12 As you can see, at the 4th column we have the 5th event and at the 5th column we have the 4th event (same for 6th and 7th columns). Basically we are telling Xmodmap to generate a scroll-down event when a scroll-up event is receved and vice-versa (and to generate a scroll-left when a scroll-right is received). You can try it yourself by putting that line in the file and load it with `xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap`. Now, if you try to scroll a gnome-terminal window, you will notice that the _natural_ scrolling behaviour is correctly enabled. However, the same can not be said for Empathy windows: it seams that the scrolling behaviour is somehow hard-coded in the application, and it cannot be overridden externally. Will apologize for the comment - not really meant as written & will say the reason it doesn't work 'smoothly' OOTB in 12.10 is for a different reason than I thought. When a user first opens RB > Edit > Prefs> Music, ~/.gstreamerr-0.10/presets is created without any .prs in it. This causes the dialog about needing to install additional software which if clicked on for ogg will return a not found & the dialog will remain For mp3 it will install, * again the dialog will still be there. Only when a valid .psr is in ~/.gstreamerr-0.10/presets will the add. software dialog go away. This will occur if the settings dropdown is expanded & Custom settings is chosen, it won't if Default or default is chosen So maybe not a big issue because sooner or later the user will pick Custom settings from the dropdown & a .prs will be created in the plugins folder & the dialog will go away. This is happening to me with an USB keyboard on an IBM ThinkPad X41. g-s-d goes to 100% CPU and the numlock led starts blinking in a crazy and irregular way. The X41 BIOS has the option to keep the internal keyboard numlock separated from the external keyboard one selected; so only the led on the USB keyboard blinks. If I try to enable the internal numlock, it gets disabled as soon as the g-s-d disables the external one. In my case I found it managed to mess up the label in such a way that I was unable to correct it with any other tools (gparted, dosfslabel or mlabel). Running `blkid` after using these tools would still report the broken label that Palimpsest had set. Public bug reported: It is a known bug that two keys on an Apple keyboard are swapped. There is another bug which occurs on Swiss keyboards with an Apple model. In Switzerland people have a period instead of a comma on their numpad. Add grilo back.
