[Bug 914313] Re: Pictures in tags of audio files, which act as thumbnails, are NOT shown for ALL files in same directory
I had a similar problem, and found a workaround. All I did was completely remove the three folders in ~/.thumbnails: fail, large and normal. Nautilus then re-reads the metadata and assigns new icons to all the files on the computer. I hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/914313 Title: Pictures in tags of audio files, which act as thumbnails, are NOT shown for ALL files in same directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/914313/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I have a hard time buying into Ubuntu beating anyone on quality when I can't even properly read song names in the default media player and this bug has been known and essentially ignored or unfixed for over half a year. Come on, telling people to upgrade to the still beta next release for a fix or a PPA is unacceptable. What is preventing this particular fix from being generally pushed. I get loads of other software updates everyday from Ubuntu for issues less glaring than this. This is a sad joke yes? I'm on this LTS at work for 2 years. This is the quality and polish I can continue to look forward to. Apps that appear not to have had a QA person even *use* them once? Hi, and thank you for reporting this. When you're seeing this, are you building Shotwell from trunk yourself, or are you installing it from the repositories? Please remove it because it produces non standard control files. Example from the package mutter: File debian/control.in: - Source: mutter Section: x11 - File debian/control: - # This file is autogenerated. DO NOT EDIT! - # + # # Modifications should be made to debian/control.in instead. # This file is regenerated automatically in the clean target. Source: mutter Section: x11 ... - This extra blank line causes issues with tools like pbuilder (automatic installation of build dependencies doesn't work). Because of the blank line the Source paragraph is no longer the first paragraph in the file. The first paragraph then only consists of comments and thus pbuilder- satisfydepends can't determine the build dependencies which yields a build failure because of missing build dependencies... References: http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-controlfields.html#s-sourcecontrolfiles Quote: "The first paragraph of the control file contains information about the source package in general. The subsequent sets each describe a binary package that the source tree builds." https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/151535 Quote: "The problem is the blank line in your debian/control file separating the commented out block and the initial "Source: gnome-orca" paragraph. A very strict reading of the Debian Policy Manual says this is invalid: you have an empty initial paragraph, and the Source paragraph as the second paragraph. Some tools may be more tolerant and skip the initial empty paragraph, however pbuilder-satisfydepends does not." - Please fix this little issue asap because it blocks automatic builds with pbuilder for certain Gnome packages. This issue is present in all package versions from Lucid up to Precise. Please also note that not all editors show the additional blank line. You could use a hex editor to get rid of the last 0a in the file. $ xxd /usr/share/gnome-pkg-tools/control.header ... 0a0: 2074 6172 6765 742e 0a0a target... - Best, Michael -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-pkg-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/953392 Title: File /usr/share/gnome-pkg-tools/control.header contains one blank line to much at the end - Please remove it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-pkg-tools/+bug/953392/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 594674] Re: Trash is not shown on --bind mounted filesystems
@Sebastien Bacher (@seb128) > @larson.erid.d: not sure it's really a "high-priority bug", such bind mount setups are not common. Could you tell us a bit more of cases where it's a concrete issue Sure. This also happens on NFS mounts, which is more widespread than --bind. > and maybe read https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=604015 to see if you agree with what was said there? Would it solve the issue if nautilus was just directly deleting files on such locations? >From comments there I understand this happens on any filesystem where user has >permissions to create .Trash-* directory on the root, and which was not >mounted by gnome stuff (technically : those that >g_unix_mount_is_system_internal() returns FALSE for. This is approximately equal to "stuff mounted in /media/". ) Here's a summary of the problem : * On the one hand, nautilus happily moves files to mountpoint/.Trash* to put trashed files, on *any* filesystem (where .Trash* exists or nautilus has permissions to create it). * In the other hand, nautilus shows in trash:/// only *some* filesystems (depending on g_unix_mount_is_system_internal). So, there no doubt that: * https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=604015 is the correct upstream bug. * Nautilus is inconsistent. * trash-cli shows that a consistent behavior is possible >From upstream: > The trash backend currently only tracks trashed files on "user interesting" > mounts -- those that g_unix_mount_is_system_internal() returns FALSE for. > This > is approximately equal to "stuff mounted in /media/". > It is certainly a bug, however, that nautilus (via g_file_trash()) and the > trash backend disagree on which volumes ought to be supported. [Bug 793122] Re: PDF content not rendering due to "some font thing failed", failed to load truetype font - important data silently left out
The pdf in comment #8 renders ok for me -- using evince 3.4.0 / Ubuntu 12.04. [Bug 1047343] [NEW] network manager icon disappears after change of user
Public bug reported: I logged in as ADMIN (a superuser) and then changed user to MYSELF (also a superuser). Upon login as ADMIN there was a network-manager icon on the top "panel". However, upon change user to MYSELF, there was no network-manager icon and I could find no way to get it back. So I logged out and shut down the computer, and restarted it. That solved the problem, but is WAY too hard. Suggestion: make it not disappear OR make it easy to regenerate the icon (and the functionality which it represents, of course!). [Bug 1046776] Re: Publish to Picasa Web gives login failure
Hi Jan, I'm not very expert in how launchpad handles bug either. Usually the bug is set to "released" state when the fix is available, and that's it. If, once the fix is released, you find that the bug is still there, I think you can reopen it by changing its state to "new" again (if it's exactly the same bug -- if the steps to reproduce are somehow different, please file another one). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1046776 Title: Publish to Picasa Web gives login failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1046776/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1006227] Re: empathy crashes on adding another gtalk account
I'm back on Ubuntu 12.04. Here's the mission control log I got from the debug window, after clearing the window and adding the 2nd gtalk account. Empathy still crashes. I have version 3.4.2.3 now. Also, the 'Edit Custom Messages...' window is blank. ** Attachment added: "mission control log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1006227/+attachment/3297832/+files/mission-control ** Changed in: empathy (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006227 Title: empathy crashes on adding another gtalk account To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1006227/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
