[Bug 1054414] Re: Quantal Attempts To Mount Non-Existent Floppy Drive

2012-09-21 Thread SlugiusRex
Actually, the machine was not configured to have a virtually floppy
drive - (see attached screenshot 'No Virtual Drive').

The VM was configured to have a CD and USB - but, as we see in the lower
right corner - neither of them was connected.

Im thinking of removing open-vm-tools and using actual vmware VM-tools
to see what happens.

I'm pretty sure this is because you have your virtual machine configured

[Bug 1054415] [NEW] Wireless driver not detected in Quantal

2012-09-21 Thread Ramakrishnan RS
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I installed Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal pre-release on my laptop via Wubi - I
have no idea why Wubi installed a version that was not stable.. The OS
does not recognize my wireless adapter. I tried all steps in Ubuntu
Help, but it was not useful. I reinstalled Precise Pangolin and
installed Realtek driver from a dropbox link to get it working (Source:

[Bug 782690] Re: Picasa upload not secure: asks for Google Password

2012-09-21 Thread Ubuntu
ClientLogin is old technology. It doesn;t provides the secure handshake
as today. I agree Shotwell should switch to switch to OAuth/OpenID.
OAuth/OpenID may make your online experience simpler by providing the
necessary info to the servers instead of signing up an extra account for
the site. There are some HTTPS SSL encyrption to improve.

[Bug 1054394] [NEW] Shotwell never finishes writing metadata

2012-09-21 Thread Ivan Sagalaev
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 0.12.9 to 0.13 shotwell starts rewriting metadata
on every launch, going through the progress with the ever-slowing pace
(i.e., each next % passes longer than the previous one). Upon reaching
99% it never completes the operation, I left it working through the
night on my 5526 photos.

I'm aware of the similarly looking #984553 that was fixed in 0.13 but I
started to see this behaviour only after upgrading so I thought it safer
to file a new bug.

[Bug 1051703] [NEW] keyboard layout applet breaks shortcuts

2012-09-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I have two or more keyboard layouts, there is a keyboard icon in
the tray, along with an indication of which layout is active. When I
have only one layout, those icons disappear.

When the icons are there, the keyboard layout does not affect shortcuts.
I can use Dvorak or Russian and still do ctrl+c/v. When the icons are
not there, I need to press ctrl+[key that maps to c/v under the active
layout] to copy/paste. While this could be useful in certain cases, it
is very inconvenient with languages that don't have c or v, like
Russian.

1) Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS (using gnome-fallback, in case it matters)
2) I don't know which package is responsible.
3) When I have only one layout (in System Tools -> System Settings -> Keyboard
Layout -> Layouts), shortcuts should remain unchanged (i.e. the same as they
would be in the US layout), no matter which the layout is.
4) Shortcuts change according to the active layout.

** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
