[Bug 951472] Re: gnome-menus-blacklist crashed with IOError in __main__: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/share/gnome/applications/debian-uxterm.desktop'

It works ok if you use sudo gnome-menus-blacklist so not a bug.

It is because /usr/share/gnome/applications is not user writeable as
it is a system folder.

[Bug 554471] Re: I can't remove a bluetooth device with bluetooth-properties

2012-09-30 Thread Andriy
Following devices seem to show up on every PC using Bus 004 Device 002:
ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode):

5E:0F:00:00:FF:02
30:30:10:02:1A:8B
00:00:60:00:00:05
00:42:03:01:F4:03
5E:C4:2F:47:66:BC
20:00:09:1A:18:32
FA:60:28:14:08:2B

You can only remove them by doing following:
1. Click on the Bluetooth icon in the tray.
2. Click Set Up Bluetooth (Settings) or however it's called there (I'm using a
German version so I don't know how it is translated in English)
3. In the Devices section you will find all Devices mentioned above, click on
one of them.
4. Click on Details and there you will find Block Device checkbox, check it.
5. Press OK.
6. Now select this device again and click Remove.
7. Press OK.

Now do the same to other devices to get rid of them.
I don't know if its only a temporary fix, didn't try if they reappear after
restart.
But have fun. ;)

By the way I'm using Kubuntu 12.04.
If you are using Gnome based Distribution you will posssibly have to download
and istall the default Bluetooth manager of Kubuntu.
I didn't test my solution on any Gnome based Distribution.

[Bug 686436] Re: on larger than monitor images the program doesn't resize to screen

2012-09-30 Thread Bence Lukács
I didn't want to open another bug, so I am here to say this bug still exist.
On Precise and Quantal if I try to open an image which is larger than my screen
(1366x768) the window of eog doesn't fit the screen, I can't see the statusbar,
and sometimes a big part of an image.
I hope you can find a solution now, because it is very annoying that I have to
resize the window every time...

[Bug 984930] Re: nautilus is missing 'browse to' option for 'open with other application'

2012-09-30 Thread aleandro
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 853061 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/853061

Hello. I had a problem to add a custom command linking to calibre to
open the .epub format of the ebooks. I found many sophisticated
workarounds in the web but the simplest way to solve is to install
thunar. Thunar mantained the old good interface allowing to choose the
wanted command.

Why was this feature removed? It was really bad to dumb down nautilus in
that way. I hope developers reintroduce the possibility to choose a
custom command/application.

The ubuntu forums are plenty of people asking to do that simple action
that was possible with all older distributions.

In my opinion the importance should be elevated to medium.

[Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity menus

2012-09-30 Thread Pedro Bessa
+1 Rachel

Unity users want different things here. Beyond, I think Unity developers
want different things here too, because Ayatana Design has Fix
Committed, but it can't get the other projects to have Fix Committed
too, so it looks like the other projects are disagreeing with Ayatana
Design.

Gnome Shell has https://extensions.gnome.org/ An extension ecosystem is
gold. Gnome Shell doesn't realize it has gold, so isn't shipped with
extension support and doesn't make the extension support package
visible. The Gnome Shell extension ecosystem was created and published
by Gnome Shell community developers.

I remember a rich friend saying in Russia, people had one shoe size for
all. People would go to Ubuntu Software Center, click Ubuntu Extensions,
view global menu options and click install in the same row or view LIM
in a row and click Install in the same row. You wouldn't have to worry
about giving us one shoe size.

What do you think?

[Bug 1055766] Re: grep -R doesn't automatically search amazon

2012-09-30 Thread Martin Wildam
Sorry folks, for introducing another factor - but I am austrian and we
have something similar to Amazon - http://www.thalia.at - when adding
amazon you should - of course depending on my location, on my mother
tongue and interests add more 3rd party search results. Of course Google
should be searched in general to give more options.

Oh and BTW: When searching in my home in Dash, you should offer me to
buy new slippers - of course already using my shoe size.

Now - back to reality: All this stuff is maybe funny, maybe offers
really interesting results. Hence it should be separate lense! NOT in
the Dash HOME.

[Bug 1059263] [NEW] Cannot reboot or shutdown system

2012-09-30 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

This usually occurs if two users have been logged on to the system via
X, even if one has logged out.

Select reboot or shutdown from the power icon and the whole screen
locks up. It does attempt to log out but it simply fails. Nothing
happens. Cannot CTRL or CTRL+ALT to another VT and have to SSH from my
Android phone to issue a sudo reboot or sudo shutdown.

The syslog says it all:

[Bug 1059341] [NEW] Port 3.6 into Quantal

2012-09-30 Thread Meng Zhuo
Public bug reported:

In Gnome 3.6, Input Source had been integrated into the Control Center,
which is very important for CJK users to setup their input method.
However pre-release is still stuck in 3.4.2, I think it's time to move
on

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1059341] Re: Port 3.6 into Quantal

2012-09-30 Thread Jeremy Bicha
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1045914 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1045914

The ibus bug is bug 1045914.
The gnome-control-center bug is bug 1010317.

Both will get fixed in 13.04 but not for 12.10.

[Bug 1059369] [NEW] [power] Show battery status in menu bar shows when running GNOME Shell

2012-09-30 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

The power panel in System Settings includes the Show battery status in
the menu bar option in the Power panel even when running GNOME Shell.

I don't think this is intended by 97_unity_power_ui.patch and it would
be better if the option only showed when indicators are running.

[Bug 982234] Re: [region]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gtk_builder_get_object()

2012-09-30 Thread Chascon
I got the error while adding a layout. It crashed but the layout had
been added,. or so one would think because it's listed, although the
preview shows the same layout regardless of which one is selected
--which may be a problem in of itself.
