Related to this bug is the fact that you need to manually add the Google email, contacts and calendar even though they are already configured in gnome-online-accounts. The expected behaviour is that you add your gmail address in gnome-online-accounts, and - automagically - the IMAP account, the contacts and the calendar(s) are configured in Evolution. [Bug 1060060] [NEW] Unable to modify empathy accounts in gnome-online-accounts
Public bug reported: Using gnome-shell, I want to modify empathy accounts, so I click on accounts in empathy main menu, and nothing happens. [Bug 1060107] [NEW] brasero doesn't see my CD burner
Public bug reported: I downloaded the Ubuntu 12.10 server install CD, but brasero doesn't seem to recognize my CD burner. Below are the steps I took: 1. Running brasero with just the image file brasero /build/tmp/ubuntu-12.10-beta-server.iso The window comes up and recognizes the .iso file, but doesn't see any devices I can write to. There's a blank CD in the drive. 2. Running brasero normally, and clicking Burn Image. Same thing happens -- after selecting the .iso file, it doesn't see any devices. 3. Trying to specify the device path I tried passing --device= for the following devices: /dev/sdc, /dev/sg0, /dev/sg2, like so: brasero -i /build/tmp/ubuntu-12.10-beta1-server-amd64.iso --device=/dev/sdc I also tried just passing sdc (i.e., no /dev path). In all cases, it just popped up a window saying: Wrong Command Line Option. /dev/sdc cannot be found. However, the file is certainly there: $ ls -l /dev/sdc brw-rw 1 root disk 8, 32 Sep 24 09:57 /dev/sdc And there don't seem to be any issues in dmesg: [4.572476] scsi 6:0:0:0: Direct-Access Generic Ultra HS-SD/MMC 1.82 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 [4.574123] sd 6:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 [4.589903] sd 6:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable disk ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: brasero 3.4.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-27.43-generic 3.2.21 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-27-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu13 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Oct 2 11:10:39 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: brasero UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-04-30 (154 days ago) ** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060107 Title: brasero doesn't see my CD burner To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/1060107/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 844081] Re: Unity Greeter - Background of the Unity Greeter should reflect the background chosen by the user that is currently selected
I'm very late to this party, but: We have FAR more pressing problems on the discretion front. Top of my list is the fact that we don't map notifications away from projectors. That's far more risky - you can control your choice of wallpaper, but you can't control what someone might IM to you while you are making your critical presentation. So, please help us address that issue. I'm sure we all agree that's more important, and perhaps, by the time we come back to this less important issue, we will all have evolved our positions. OK? By your logic, a perfectly acceptable solution to this is to just uninstall notifications. Or uninstall their IM program. Simple right? Or just not use Ubuntu! Or the regular user could just patch it themselves! Oh how simple. All your reasons for ignoring this option are perfectly applicable to the more pressing issue you described. In my experience, the amount of people who have offensive (or private as I'd much rather call them, because offensive is surely a very small subset of private) wallpapers is much greater than the amount of people who use projectors while their IM program is running. And what! I think I just solved your pressing problem -- just turn your IM program off? Could it be that simple? Otherwise, uninstall it. I'm sorry for any unwarranted sarcasm or spitefulness, but this bug report thread made me really, really sad about Ubuntu's attitude and priorities at the top of the mound. :-\ With love, Victor -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/844081 Title: Unity Greeter - Background of the Unity Greeter should reflect the background chosen by the user that is currently selected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/accountsservice/+bug/844081/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1060276] [NEW] Cannot drop files into current folder
Public bug reported: In Nautilus list view, if there are no empty rows, it is not possible to drop files into the current directory. You can only drop on a folder, or a file. In keeping with previous versions of Nautilus and Windows and most other file managers, you should ALWAYS be able to drop files into the current directory. To reproduce: - open Nautilus and make sure list view is enabled - navigate to a folder with enough folders/files in it to fill the view (or just resize the window to make the scroll-bar appear) - open another Nautilus window and drag a file or files over the list of files in the other Nautilus window - it is not possible to drop the files in the current directory; you can only drop it into a folder or a file (in the latter case, Nautilus will ask you if you want to create a directory with the same name as the file) You should be able to drop files onto any available white-space and have those files copied to the current directory. [Bug 694910] Re: Regression: patch to bug 539477 breaks Super+P keybindings
Why is this not fixed if all it takes is to remove a horribly written patch? Precise 12.04 still has this behaviour. Basically, right now there are only two very ugly fixes: either turn off xrandr support or media-keys. The first is unacceptable if you use multiple monitors (me) and the second if you use media keys (me). So someone that needs both (me) has a big problem. This forced shortcut caused me a ton of troubles and wasted time. Just because there is broken hardware out there does not mean you should force a broken fix down everyone's throat.
