[Bug 1066395] [NEW] Nautilus (list view) column widths change dynamically on alt-tab, lags on large folders

2012-10-13 Thread Julien-Charles Lévesque
Public bug reported:

The problem seems to be that nautilus re-parses the list of files in a
folder after an alt-tab to resize dynamically the column widths, e.g.,
the name column will be made wider if there is a file with a very large
name. What happens is that if you have a large folder, upon a window
redraw (with alt-tab for example), the column width for 'Name' is set to
a small value, and then increases when a larger file name is found. This
produces a weird effect with the columns changing sizes multiple times -
not particularly nice, and I believe will be much more problematic on
very large folders. Isn't there some way of caching the previously
computed value on this same folder and only refreshing it once, thus
making it invisible to the user?

Running updated Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, nautilus package version
1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4

I witnessed this in a folder containing only 71 files. There was a file
with a considerably longer file name at the end of the folder (e.g.
twice as long, 31 characters vs 15 characters in the first files)

[Bug 1049028] Re: Unable to create gmail account

2012-10-13 Thread Jeffrey Flaker
Another note: I've noticed the use of googlemail.com as some of the
gmail domains. As far as I can remember, google is no longer using that
domain name. This may be the issue in the calendar too. On setting up
the calendar, Evolution will seemingly freeze with noticable network
blips on my router. It is as if trying to resolve a domain name or
contact a non-existent server.

I know the mail domain names are as follows with common ports for secure and
unsecure
imap.gmail.com for IMAP
smtp.gmail.com for SMTP
pop.gmail.com for POP3

I hope this helps. I love Evolution since it, like Outlook, is a
unified app for mail and calendar. PLease fix the ills.

Public bug reported:

When booting the quantal iso testing images and selecting Try Ubuntu
without changing the language or keyboard layout, it is impossible to
add keyboard layouts. In system settings -> keyboard layout there are
only four English layouts listed and the + button that should add a
layout is grayed out.

When selecting a non-English layout by pressing F3 during boot the
button is usable.

[Bug 1052418] Re: Transfer files to tablet brakes sd card and makes a read only file system

2012-10-13 Thread Chris Davis
So is there anyway I can find out if you are done with this?
Cause I would like to be able to use Ubuntu to copy music onto my player.

[Bug 983291] Re: Screen Rotation options only Counterclockwise & Clockwise

2012-10-13 Thread Cristian Chelu
Can confirm bug still exists in the up-to-date release version of 12.04.
Running on a Compaq nx7400.

When plugging in a VGA External monitor, at any resolution higher than
1024 x 768 the Normal and 180deg. options are not available.

xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --rotate normal --right-of LVDS1 works as I
would have expected of the original interface.

Does this exclude the option of the 3D buffer maximum size bug?

Regards,

Cristian Chelu

[Bug 1066263] [NEW] Gnome terminal window resizing when out of focus

2012-10-13 Thread Charis Kouzinopoulos
Public bug reported:

To reproduce, resize the gnome terminal using the mouse, click on
another window and then return to gnome terminal. The window has now the
original size and not the resized one.

I only experienced this behavior on gnome terminal and not on other
applications so this is probably not a Unity bug
