[Bug 209513] Re: After upgrade, Update standard folders to current language threatens to rename your home folder

2012-11-19 Thread shte...@gmail.com
I had the same thing. I clicked keep old names hoping that nothing
would change, but as soon as I did that I noticed that all my menus,
notifications, etc are in Chinese (or Japanese? I can't tell the
difference). My language is still set to english in /etc/default/locale,
so I don't know how to fix it...

[Bug 1080591] [NEW] shotwell fails to authenticate with non-primary address

2012-11-19 Thread Ketil Malde
Public bug reported:

I am trying to export some pictures from Shotwell to my Picasa account.
I select Picasa from the publish list, and push the button to
authenticate. I am asked for password, which I enter. I am then told
that Authentication failed. Subsequent attempts go directly to
Authentication failed, and there is no apparent way to enter the
password again.

Cause: I am using a non-gmail email address to log on to Google. This
used to work, but something - presumably Google - has changed this.

Suggestions:

1) Shotwell should be more informative about the Authentication Failure,
and report what exactly is wrong. I thought I had mistyped the
password, and then it's frustrating not to be offered the opportunity to
retype it.

2) The login dialog should offer a direct link or pointer to the
accounts settings, now I need to select Add an account from the drop
down.

3) Incidentally, removing accounts doesn't work, in the end I had to
disable two (non-working) instances of Google account configurations.

Anyway, not exactly a bug, but hopefully a report that lets Shotwell
become even better.

Shotwell version 0.13.0-0ubuntu3, on Ubuntu 12.10, 64bit.

[Bug 1042456] Re: Huawei e398 doesn't work

2012-11-19 Thread Aleksander Morgado
Current MM in Ubuntu fully ignores WWAN ports handled using the QMI
protocol; which means the modem is stuck to use PPP over a serial port.
That method seems to be enough for slower connections like GSM/HSPA, but
definitely not for LTE.

The fix for this is to use QMI and the WWAN port, as done in current git
master of MM :-/

[Bug 1080633] [NEW] nautilus creates new files/folders in wrong tab

2012-11-19 Thread Maarten Winter
Public bug reported:

1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4
Ubuntu 12.10

Steps to reproduce:
1) Launch Nautilus
2) Select two folders, open both in new tab (Right-click Open in 2 new tabs)
3) Go to the first new tab
4) Try to create a new file (Right-click New document Empty document)

What is expected:
-File is created in the first new tab, opened in step 3

What actually happens:
-File is created in second new tab

Further observations:
-Instead of a new file, one can in step 4 also try to create a folder, to the
same effect
-Sometimes nautilus gets 'stuck' in the first opened tab, so doing step 4 in
the second tab, will make files appear in the first instead

[Bug 1080635] [NEW] Evolution tries to download non existant image

2012-11-19 Thread Kim d'Audretsch
Public bug reported:

If you open an email with an image which doesn't exist it does not time
out and keeps on trying to download this image. I cannot open any other
emails with the preview window. The only way to view other emails is by
opening them in a new window. I am running a dovecot IMAP server.

[Bug 1010349] Re: Evolution address book inaccessible without killing one time e-addressbook-factory

2012-11-19 Thread Adriaan van Nijendaal
Evolution's excellent addressbook hasn't been working well for more than
a year now, starting with 11.04. The 'crowd' must have moved over to
Thunderbird, or what else could be the reason for such a low priority
for this annoying bug? Any Android user would love to have this working!

Currently, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 (with evolution 3.2.3). There are two
ways to get a Google addressbook working *for one session only*:

1. Start evolution, kill e-addressbook-factory, (re)open contacts (see above)
2. Run 'seahorse' from a terminal, delete the passwd for
google://youraddress%40gmail@gmail.com; start evolution, open
addressbook, retype passwd. (This works for calendar trouble too: delete
caldav://.. instead.)

Unfortunately, this solution only works for one session; upon re-
invocation the whole misery starts again.

Could this bug be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgdata/+bug/755043 ?
Is there a way to increase to priority of this bug?

[Bug 1080656] [NEW] bluetooth-wizard crashes when the name of a discovered device is NULL

2012-11-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

If you scan for pairing-ready Bluetooth devices and one of the device's
names is NULL, bluetooth-wizard shows the alias based on the devices
address, like 00-26-55-09-6A-9C (and bt-adapter -d of bluez-tools
shows Name: (null)). If you click on such an entry in bluetooth-wizard
(or move the selection to such an entry with the cursor keys), the
wizard simply crashes, making it impossible to pair this device.

I observed this in Quantal both on a standard 64-bit Intel PC and on the
Nexus 7.

[Bug 1010349] Re: Evolution address book inaccessible without killing one time e-addressbook-factory

2012-11-19 Thread Adriaan van Nijendaal
Sometimes, 'explaining' something makes you wonder about what you're
explaining. So, I asked myself: Why does seahorse have this
myname%40gmail@gmail.com? Should that domain name be there twice?

So, I used seahorse to edit google://myname%40gmail@gmail.com into
google://myname@gmail.com

Now, I can get to my addressbook right after I start evolution!!! (I do
not have the time now to reboot, to re-test etc, but I'll be back to
report progress (or fall-back) in a few days.)

[Bug 1052418] Re: Transfer files to tablet brakes sd card and makes a read only file system

2012-11-19 Thread Chris Davis
It always does it if I use the drag and drop method (slower and slower and then
read-only) but when it started doing it I read on a post that copying that way
is an issue that it makes it get real slow and I should try doing it with the
cp command in terminal which is faster copying but still makes it read only.
But i don't know any other ways other than those two and doing it from terminal
is faster for copying but whats the point if it still makes read only file
systems, right?

[Bug 1042456] Re: Huawei e398 doesn't work

2012-11-19 Thread Marius Kotsbak
Hmm, I see now that you have full coverage (5/5). I see that the modem
suddenly loses the data connection port:

modem-manager[14730]: debug [1353275176.363323] [mm-serial-port.c:697]
data_available(): (ttyUSB0) unexpected port hangup!

But then right after it is connected:

modem-manager[14730]: info [1353275176.364505] [mm-modem.c:764]
mm_modem_set_state(): Modem /org/freedesktop/ModemManager/Modems/0:
state changed (disconnecting - connected)

Aleksander: is there more Huawei port numbering lies? Or maybe the modem
is not properly implemented/unstable for using LTE without QMI?

- (more specifically gnome-settings-daemon) is running, the ACPI handler
- ignores the event. Instead gnome-settings-daemon brings up a popup to
- ask the user whether he wants to
+ On Unity Desktop, in the popup dialog that appears when the ACPI power
+ button is pressed, the buttons to suspend and hibernate are non
+ functional (see screenshot screenshot of dialog in question).

- Suspend
- Restart
- Cancel
- Shutdown
+ Detailed info:
+
+ Usually, when the ACPI power button on a laptop is pressed, the ACPI-
+ daemon handles this event and issues a shutdown. However this is not the
+ case when certain GUI's are running (the acpi shutdown handler
+ explicitly checks for the presence of a gnome-settings-daemon process,
+ among others.)
+
+ When a user is running the Unity desktop, the process gnome-settings-
+ daemon is running, and shows up a popup.
+
+ (see screenshot screenshot of dialog in question)
+
+ This popup asks the user whether he wants to
+
+ - Suspend
+ - Restart
+ - Cancel
+ - Shutdown

and if the hibernate function has been enabled according to
  http://askubuntu.com/questions/94754/how-to-enable-hibernation

  also

- Hibernate
+ - Hibernate

- if no action is taken, the Shutdown feature is auto-executed abter 60
- seconds.
+ if no action is taken, the dialog executes selects the Shutdown
+ feature after 60 seconds without user interaction.

- Of these, only Shutdown and Cancel always have the intended effect,
- where Shutdown invokes a shutdown of the system and Cancel simply
- closes the dialog.
+ Of these buttons only Restart, Shutdown and Cancel have the
+ intended effect,

- Restart causes a system restart in about 99% of the cases only,
- however I had seen occasions where only the session got terminated and
- the login screen is presented without an actual reboot taking place!
- (Edit: I can't reproduce that reliably, might be a separate bug)
+ Shutdown invokes a shutdown of the system
+ Cancel simply closes the dialog.
+ Restart causes a system restart

- Suspend and Hibernate have NO effect, other than the dialog closes,
- in fact they behave the same as if Cancel has been pressed!
+ However Suspend and Hibernate have the same effect as Cancel. the
+ dialog closes, but the system keeps running.

- When Suspend or Hibernate are selected manually in the power menu
- from the Unity desktop, they both work. In fact all options in that menu
- work.
+ (see sreenshot in attachment screenshot of dialog in question)
+
+ This bug only affects the Unity desktop.
+
+ For example, the corresponding dialog in the ubuntustudio desktop works
+ as expected.
+
+ Also if Suspend or Hibernate are selected manually in the power menu
+ from the Unity desktop, they ALSO work as expected. (see screenshot in
+ attachment on this menu everything works)
+

2012-11-19 Thread Sebastien Bacher
it is, that seems like bug #1041137 then, can you check if that update
fixes it:

gnome-session (3.6.2-0ubuntu2) raring; urgency=low

  * Add 04_consolekit_init_upower.patch: GsmConsoleKit: Properly initialize
upower client. (LP: #1041137)

(there is a SRU in the queue waiting for review with the fix as well)

[Bug 878352] Re: 3rd Party Plugins Ignored

2012-11-19 Thread fossfreedom
To all,
Rhythmbox 2.9x has moved to GTK3 and thus all the API's have also changed.

The plugins need to be recoded.

Many have - I would recommend the gnome-third party plugin website

Alternatively this Ask Ubuntu question.

As such, I would recommend closure of this bug report due to the reasons
above.

Are you using the Ubuntu Online Accounts control panel to set up your
Google account or are you configuring it directly in Shotwell? Note that
since you're running Quantal, unless you built and installed Shotwell
from source, the default build of Shotwell that comes with Quantal has
been patched downstream to use the Ubuntu Online Accounts system for
Google authentication. Hence, this could be a bug either with Shotwell
or with Ubuntu Online Accounts.

Lucas

[Bug 1080140] Re: Move to the rubbish bin always fails

2012-11-19 Thread Lucas Beeler
Shotwell's Rubbish Bin or Trash Can (depending on whether you're
using US or Commonwealth English) is distinct from the system rubbish
bin. This is to say, Shotwell has its own Rubbish Bin. To view the
contents of Shotwell's private Rubbish Bin, select Rubbish Bin (or
Wastebasket, or Trash, depending on the regional variant of English
in use on your system) from the Shotwell sidebar. Once you've switched
to viewing the Rubbish Bin Contents, to permanently delete the files in
Shotwell's private Rubbish Bin, click Empty Rubbish Bin (or however it
is localized on your system) on the Shotwell toolbar.

[Bug 975636] Re: Trouble setting library location to Pictures/Photos

2012-11-19 Thread Przemek Wesolek
I can confirm having the bug in 12.04. However, I also managed to get
rid of this.

After setting directory to ~/Pictures/Photos via dconf-settings,
Shotwell behaved as in comment #12, the input field in preferences is
set to (None). The structure of the Photos dir was:

  2005/
  2006/
  ...
  2012/
  some_text_file

I removed some_text_file, so only year folders were left. After
restarting Shotwell, Photos folder is correctly displayed in preferences
and I can import photos to that folder.

Don't know; have not played with that modem. But what I can tell is that
using AT+PPP in such a modem is probably a fallback method which is not
supposed to be used... LTE speeds need a net port, PPP just introduces

[Bug 1080890] [NEW] gtk3 file browser slow

2012-11-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

2. What did you attempt to do, or what did you notice was wrong?
I'm attempting to upload a large numbers of files in a browser (I tried both
chrome and firefox). I tried uploading 600+ files to Google drive and it hangs
on the upload screen for 2-5 minutes before starting the upload. It appears
that the bottleneck is getting the list of files from the file chooser to the
browser to start processing, not in the actual upload process it self.

3. What was the expected result, or the expected state?
It should exit the upload screen quickly and start the upload

I'm running into this issue on a Precise desktop. It's not exhibiting
the behavior on Lucid desktops.

The project that I'm working on requires uploading hundreds of files at
once and has worked fine on Lucid. Now that I've switched to Precise I
am unable to work or iterate quickly, incurring 5-10 minute penalties
after every code change I make. It's a major work stopping issue for
me.

Yes, you can have temp SSH access on my netbook. I'm just having issues

Oh, that's not a command. Create an user account for me (e. g.
pitti), and copy the contents of
https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+sshkeys into
/home/pitti/.ssh/authorized_keys, then I will be able to log in. As I
will need sudo to run udisks, please set some password for me and
create a /home/pitti/password.txt with the password so that I can see
it once I'm logged in.

For the record, I might have to install a couple of packages
(udisks2's build dependencies) to build udisks2 until it's fixed. I
will remove them after I'm done.

Thanks!
