[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-02-14 Thread Nicolas Binkowski
I'm on linux Mint 14. All of my movies are on my NAS. I open Nemo, go on
my NAS and play one of my movies.

With VLC, the first play work fine. I can close vlc. If i start another
movie, vlc start but don't play movie. I can't kill vlc (sudo killall
vlc -s KILL don't work :/) and i can't unmount share folder... gvfsd-
fuse use the share...

with totem, same problem but there are differences, i can kill totem and
unmount share folder... i try the solution of Kanehekili (jentiger-
moratai) #37 but nothing change :/

this is very penalizing, please :) fix this bug

thanks :)

2013-02-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1125060] [NEW] Opening 'Settings › Appareance' involves losing workspace size settings

2013-02-14 Thread Andrea Corbellini
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set your hsize and vsize to a non default value:

 gsettings set org.compiz.core:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/core/
hsize 3
 gsettings set org.compiz.core:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/core/
vsize 3

2. Check that the number of workspaces has increased.

3. Open 'System Settings' and go to 'Appareance':

 gnome-control-center background

4. Check the number of workspaces.

What should happen?
Nothing. The workspaces should be still 3×3=9.

What happens instead?
hsize and vsize are reset to their default value (2×2=4).

[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately

2013-02-14 Thread Johannes Gowin
As I wrote in Gnome Bugzilla it's pretty sad that this won't be fixed.

I thought maybe like for other additions in the gnome-control-center
this could be also done by Ubuntu. For example the cursor with my Magic
Trackpad is far to slow to be able to work fluently. Also there is a
discrepancy between my build in trackpad and the touchpad of my laptop.

Going to try these changes in dconf to see which setting is causing the
issue.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/207131/screensaver-blanking-problem
http://askubuntu.com/questions/67355/how-do-i-completely-turn-off-screensaver-and-power-management

dconf dump / | grep lock

tried these settings with xset

xset s 0
xset s noexpose
xset s noblank
xset -dpms

Have installed caffeine to try and fix this problem.

[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately

2013-02-14 Thread Johannes Gowin
Sure thing that you don't have the time to deal with every minor issue
instantly.

But isn't setting this bug to Won't fix telling other people that they
shouldn't have any hope that it ever will get fixed a little bit to
much? (I'm not too familiar with the guidelines how to bug statuses) It
sounds like bad/stupid/unworthy idea that never will be considered.
Wouldn't be Opinion more appropriate? Just my 2 cents worth.

So maybe we should stop that here as I know that this is some minor
thing (even if it is influencing the connection of the user and the
software).

[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately

2013-02-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
well, we keep it as wishlist confirmed if that was a composant where
Ubuntu is upstream, we do try to limit the amonth of changes/patching we
do over GNOME though since that makes our maintenance work much harder
over time. The status used there is just a reflexion of the decision of
people writing the code, maybe in a few cycles we will reconsider or go
a different path for the input settings (like we did already for some
other panels), at which point that will be something we can reconsider

[Bug 1125170] [NEW] gnome terminal stops allowing you to drag tabs between windows

2013-02-14 Thread Tom Tanner
Public bug reported:

After a while, gnome terminal stops allowing you to drag and drop tabs
from one terminal window to another. When you drag the tab over another
terminal window and drop it, it behaves as though you'd dropped the tab
somewhere else and creates a new window.

All I can tell is that the time is random and probably depends on the
number of times you've already done this.

[Bug 1056951] Re: Two blank windows of totem movie player

2013-02-14 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
I'm still being able to reproduce this with Ubuntu 12.10. Way to
reproduce:

1) Open Nautlus on a dir with a file playable by Totem

2) Click fast enough on the file

Two blank and frozen Totem windows open. Totem has to be killed to close
the windows.

That unveiled the issue, I had installed ricotz's ppa a while back and
removed it after a few days but apparently the ppa was not completely
purged. I added it again and purged it again and the package was
properly downgraded and the missing key was added to the schema. Feel
very noobish!

[Bug 1119832] Re: After creating a blank txt file in ~/Templates there are 2 Empty Document options in context menu

2013-02-14 Thread LantzR
Well I have a better understanding of what is happening at the human level than
at #3 above.
 - qa XRef - Tc-Nfm-001

== Distribution ==
head --lines 9 dists/raring/Release
Origin: Ubuntu
Label: Ubuntu
Suite: raring
Version: 13.04
Codename: raring
Date: Wed, 13 Feb 2013 7:20:15 UTC
Architectures: i386
Components: main restricted
Description: Ubuntu Raring 13.04

- Changes from what I observed in #3 above
  - Before we had prebuild empty document as well as the test created template
in the context menu
- xxx and xxx.txt
  - the context menu showed both without the suffix so it _looked_ a bit weird
- since somebody decided no not show the real filename
- It did work accurately though

- This version does eliminate the paper ... scratch I cited above...
sorta

- Only if you start with an empty template folder as per Tc-Nfm-001
- AND you use touch to create the document not Nautilus

- Now IF the Template Folder is empty
  - There is NO context menu to create a new document
  - I believe that to be a step backwards from before
- A Quickfix workaround might be to put some documents in the Templates
folder
  - Text, Letter, Drawing, Spreadsheet ...

- You can create all the docs you want with bash in ~/Templates
  - They will not show up in a New Document Menu

- If you use Nautilus to drag a document into the Templates folder
   - It will appear on the New Document context menu immediately
  - Along with the default Empty Document menu Item from #3 above

- If you restart the system all the documents in ~/Templates will appear
on the context menu

I tried to issue a bug-report from the running iso but it fought me

** Attachment added: raring new doc context menu

This is the unity HUD field, usually showing when you press alt (default

too? Did you press Alt when it did appear?

[Bug 1014876] Re: No option to create a New Document from context menu

2013-02-14 Thread LantzR
The contrived qa Test is a bit misleading.

- I believe that it was better to always show the Create New Document
context menu

- As it is now, if we can not go back - Do NOT ship with the Template
Folder Empty

- I personally prefer 12.10 style where if i move a doc into Template in Bash
it will show up in the menu
 - It should not matter how the file gets there

- Dragging a document into the Templates folder with Nautilus work
immediately

- The is still the problem that Nautilus does a copy not a move when you
drop a doc into a folder

[Bug 1019802] Re: no create new document on menu

2013-02-14 Thread LantzR
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1014876 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1014876

The qa test Tc-Nfm-001 need ... adjusting
- deliberately creating the document with the same name as the default is not a
common case

- touch move or anything from bash will not affect the context menu
until restart

- dragging one document with nautilus to the Templates folder will create the
New Documents context menu
  - with the doc you put in as well as the default Empty Document

- It is ok to have many text Templates
 - Having to guess which menu item gives you Foo and which gives you Foo.txt is
a different issue

[Bug 1125260] [NEW] gtk_file_chooser_get_current_folder() function is broken in 2.24.10 GTK+ 2.24.15

2013-02-14 Thread Tehnick
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu users of EiskaltDC++ reported us about problem with GTK+ dialog for
choosing folders: it always returns path to home directory instead of chosen
one.
https://code.google.com/p/eiskaltdc/issues/detail?id=1392#c8

After small investigation I found that problem affects only Ubuntu Quantal and
Raring. Bug is reproducible only in GTK+ 2.24.10, and it was fixed in GTK+
2.24.15. Related link:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=691040

Unfortunately, GTK+ 2.24.15 is not available in Ubuntu Raring yet. But I think
that packages will be updated soon, because Ubuntu is not in freeze yet. So the
most important question is about Ubuntu Quantal. Please add necessary patch
into the package:

[Bug 1125281] [NEW] Nautilus mini-browser upload chooser does not allow thumbnail preview

2013-02-14 Thread Mike
Public bug reported:

The description is pretty accurate, but for clarity: When an application
opens a file-chooser dialog box, the user is presented with a
miniaturized version of the file browser. This mini browser displays a
detailed list only, with tiny icons next to images that are unhelpful.
Sometimes, as in Firefox, clicking on a file does display a preview on
the right, but the purpose of this bug is to request adjustable-sized
thumbnail images for all files - not just the one selected.

Then the leftmost column (or two, or three) of files extends right off the
bottom of monitor A into mid-air to the left of where monitor B starts and
they are completely inaccessible via the desktop. A file browser window must
be opened and navigated to Desktop in order to access the files.

2013-02-14 Thread JNH
Is this bug still active? Is it active for 12.10?
Also this is a bit technical for a bug report. You might want to check out the
totem-dev list.
Thank you for your contribution, though.

[Bug 1038813] Re: error on movie player

2013-02-14 Thread Adela Suhani
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to
report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html.
We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the
problem.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
