(In reply to comment #14) Fixed in Factory. it's back again in 12.3-RC1 (or never got fixed?) ! I'm using 12.3-RC1 plus updates and run XFCE4. /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --login gets started and it's loading offering all my ssh-keys, which is a no- go! when debugging my ssh-agent problems, I found the hint in some discussions to rename/remove nome-keyring-daemon (or remove execute permission). this worked fine for me -- until bug #805048: NetworkManager needs gnome-keyring-daemon to ask for wifi passphrases :-(( so gnome-keyring-daemon is back in businees, and trashes my ssh usage:-( looking for other solutions I found e.g. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1655397 but sudo gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type bool --set /apps/gnome-keyring/daemon-components/ssh FALSE does not help. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/932177/comments/20 does not work either for me, the key daemon still loads/offers all ssh keys (output of ssh-add -l). for now I've hacked the gnome-keyring-daemon to garble the path to my keys: diff ( strings /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon~ ) ( strings /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon ) 9543c9543 ~/.ssh --- ~/@ssh but of corse that's not the way to go:-( so my question for running XFCE4: how can I disable the ssh-agent functionality for gnome-keyring-daemon these days ??? thanks for the real[tm] solution!!! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/932177 Title: XFCE (and other non-GNOME) desktops do not initialise gnome-keyring correctly / WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to PKCS11 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-keyring/+bug/932177/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 861443] Re: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10
Response: Still no way to set exceptions to proxy settings in the network applet in 12.04. I would also add that with the previous network settings GUI, we had the possibility to create profiles for proxy settings. It was quite useful when you worked regularly at different locations, each with different network proxy... You just had to select the corresponding profile and everything worked. Now you have to change your settings manually each time you move to another location. Looks like a regression to me :-( still a problem in Ubuntu 13.04 raring!!! profiles would be a great idea... as you could choose to not have a proxy network at home but one at work! Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). This bug was fixed in the package xchat - 2.8.8-7ubuntu2 --- xchat (2.8.8-7ubuntu2) raring; urgency=low * Optimise default settings for efficient chatting + Make tab completion by default use last-used order, not alphabetical. This way for example if one is chatting with cjwatson, typing cjtab will complete to cjwatson and not cjohnston. [Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)
This is still happening to me as well, using 3.4.2-0ubuntu15. In fact, I think 3.4.2-0ubuntu15 CAUSED the problem to recurr. I had experienced it in the past and solved using the numlock workaround via dconf-editor. Today I ran an update, and immediately afterward the problem came back. I don't know for sure that the new version of g-s-d was installed with this update, but it seems like a suspicious coincidence -- in any case, I definitely do now have the new version installed. [Bug 488900] Re: Clock should request fixed width font
gnome-panel is not maintained by Gnome anymore, but this could apply for other desktop environments as well. I don't think this is feasible. A good UI font should have the same width in its numerals, so things like the clock don't jump around. While this is true for the fonts Ubuntu has used by default for its UI (Vera Sans/DejaVu, Ubuntu), if you change to a decorative font like Purisa, then the problem is in Purisa (or not, I don't know if its creators intended for it to ever be used for UI).
