[Bug 932177]

2013-02-24 Thread J-koenig
(In reply to comment #14)
 Fixed in Factory.

it's back again in 12.3-RC1 (or never got fixed?) !

I'm using 12.3-RC1 plus updates and run XFCE4.

/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --login

gets started and it's loading offering all my ssh-keys, which is a no-
go!

when debugging my ssh-agent problems, I found the hint in some
discussions to rename/remove nome-keyring-daemon (or remove execute
permission).

this worked fine for me -- until bug #805048:
NetworkManager needs gnome-keyring-daemon to ask for wifi passphrases :-((

so gnome-keyring-daemon is back in businees, and trashes my ssh usage:-(

looking for other solutions I found e.g.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1655397

but

 sudo gconftool-2 --direct --config-source
xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type bool --set
/apps/gnome-keyring/daemon-components/ssh FALSE
does not help.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/932177/comments/20

does not work either for me, the key daemon still loads/offers all ssh
keys (output of ssh-add -l).

for now I've hacked the gnome-keyring-daemon to garble the path to my keys:

diff ( strings /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon~ ) ( strings
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon )
9543c9543
 ~/.ssh
---
 ~/@ssh

but of corse that's not the way to go:-(

so my question for running XFCE4:

how can I disable the ssh-agent functionality for gnome-keyring-daemon
these days ???

thanks for the real[tm] solution!!!

That's currently not possible, you can either start all components of
gnome-keyring-daemon (by enabling GNOME compatibility mode) or not start
it at all. This bug was about making it work properly at all which has
been the case since 12.1. The ability to selectively enable/disable
components is a different issue and would need to be addressed upstream.
Please file a new enhancement request, preferably on the upstream
tracker or here if you want me to forward it for you.

It would be so nice if it used just a little more cpu :))

I really don't see why it is so resource hungry, even the KDE program
(which is not really native on Gnome) is much faster and efficient (and
just imagine how fast is a more simple python app like the one Xubuntu
has by default).

[Bug 1132496] [NEW] Ubuntu online accounts applications category selection

2013-02-24 Thread Santiago Navatta
Public bug reported:

Hi
The categories instead of the actual (Gwibber, shotwell, emphaty) they should
be :
-Mail Contacts (Yahoo!, Gmail. Outlook, and even personal services
with a assistant dialog)
-Documents (Google Drive, Zoho Docs, Office web)
   -Social sharing (Facebook, Google+, Twitter)
-Photography (Picasa, Facebook albums, Instagram, Ubuntu one)
   -Streaming (Youtube, Deezer, Ubuntu one)
-Files and Backup (Ubuntu one, Dropbox, Google Drive)
   -Messaging (Facebook, Skype, Jabber, Google)
   -Bookmarks (Firefox sync, Google, xmarks)
   -Notes Calendars (tomboy)
And so on Because new people dont even know what Gwibber, shotwell and
emphaty means.

Cheers

[Bug 658004] Re: brasero dvd capacity estimation is broken

2013-02-24 Thread David Balažic
I teseted again. When brasero is started from a terminal window, the the old
version gives the mentioned no space error.
After updating to -ubuntu3.1* it works without giving that error.

The right click an ISO file and select Write to Disc... scenario still gives
the same error.
Is that handled by a different package? Or somehow the old version is cached
(running all the time in background)?

* why does comment 15 mention ubuntu4 ?

[Bug 861443] Re: There is no easy way to change proxy settings in Ubuntu 11.10

2013-02-24 Thread Spartan117
Response:
Still no way to set exceptions to proxy settings in the network applet in 12.04.

I would also add that with the previous network settings GUI, we had the
possibility to create profiles for proxy settings. It was quite useful when
you worked regularly at different locations, each with different network
proxy... You just had to select the corresponding profile and everything
worked. Now you have to change your settings manually each time you move to
another location.
Looks like a regression to me :-(

still a problem in Ubuntu 13.04 raring!!!
profiles would be a great idea... as you could choose to not have a proxy
network at home but one at work!
It would be great if it was fixed.. like it was in the previous proxy network
applet.

[Bug 304477] Re: Ctrl-L is a poor keybinding for Clear

2013-02-24 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
With dual screen monitors this causes data/productivity loss.
I often have irc on one screen and web-browser on the other.
My eyesight is reading something in the web-browser, and I may press Ctrl+L to
change url to something else and I may happen to have my focus on the
irc-client.

It's ok if one can scroll-up and read the backscroll history (like in
gnome-terminal).

It's not ok xchat style of wiping the buffer, such that one is forced to
read history logs.

[Bug 1132259] Re: Rhythmbox continues playing after closing app

It should definitely show in system tray if you have it enabled
though.

Dave: That should be default behaviour. The end user should not have to
configure anything so basic.

I checked the preferences and found nothing that enables an icon in the
upper panel.

[Bug 854100] Re: Faellig am - immer morgen

2013-02-24 Thread Philip Wyett
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 304477] Re: Ctrl-L is a poor keybinding for Clear

2013-02-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package xchat - 2.8.8-7ubuntu2

---
xchat (2.8.8-7ubuntu2) raring; urgency=low

  * Optimise default settings for efficient chatting
+ Make tab completion by default use last-used order, not alphabetical.
This way for example if one is chatting with cjwatson, typing
cjtab will complete to cjwatson and not cjohnston.
  Manual migration: ~/.xchat/xchat.conf: completion_sort = 1
+ Do not focus channel upon entering, as that clears highlights when using
a znc proxy.
To be honest, there should be a distinction between manually joining
  new channels auto-joining. (LP: #189222)
  Manual migration: ~/.xchat/xchat.conf: tab_new_to_front = 0
+ Do not clear buffer with Ctrl-L shortcut. (LP: #304477)
That shortcut is dominated by web-browsers changing URLs and causes
context loss if the focus was accidently left on xchat.
  * Fix ftbfs, should link against gmodule.
  * Add xchat-indicator to recommends. (LP: #1048335)
  * Include svg icon (LP: #840673)

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2013-02-24 Thread D Bnonn Tennant
This is still happening to me as well, using 3.4.2-0ubuntu15. In fact, I
think 3.4.2-0ubuntu15 CAUSED the problem to recurr. I had experienced it
in the past and solved using the numlock workaround via dconf-editor.

Today I ran an update, and immediately afterward the problem came back.
I don't know for sure that the new version of g-s-d was installed with
this update, but it seems like a suspicious coincidence -- in any case,
I definitely do now have the new version installed.

Unfortunately, neither the numlock fix is working (since it was already
applied), nor removing /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/keyboard
.gnome-settings-plugin.

[Bug 1132595] [NEW] The volume labels in disks are illegible.

palimpsest (?) in 12.10, the volume information label in the Volumes

[Bug 1094655] Re: Making a filter to redirect a message does not work

2013-02-24 Thread Philip Wyett
A test as you described shows this bug to be valid.

I also have it working correctly under 12.04, but nothing leaves the
outbox under 12.10.

[Bug 950352] Re: Online Accounts UI Missing

2013-02-24 Thread Eric Organiscak
I'm also affected by this, on Mint 14 Nadia. I installed Empathy and
after was able to open online accounts and add a few accounts and
everything was working, then I rebooted and online accounts was missing
from system settings and gnome-online-accounts-panel.desktop isn't even
in /usr/share/applications. I'm assuming it was there before I rebooted
when the panel was available. It still shows as installed in Synaptic.
I just reinstalled it so I'll see what happens when I relog.

[Bug 478974] Re: GDM should use the preferred layout of the user

2013-02-24 Thread Adolfo Jayme Barrientos
I don't know if GDM still doesn't let users to change the keyboard
layout, but in any case Gnome should cope with it. Ubuntu now uses
LightDM/Unity Greeter and this problem doesn't exist there.

[Bug 488900] Re: Clock should request fixed width font

2013-02-24 Thread Adolfo Jayme Barrientos
gnome-panel is not maintained by Gnome anymore, but this could apply for
other desktop environments as well.

I don't think this is feasible. A good UI font should have the same
width in its numerals, so things like the clock don't jump around. While
this is true for the fonts Ubuntu has used by default for its UI (Vera
Sans/DejaVu, Ubuntu), if you change to a decorative font like Purisa,
then the problem is in Purisa (or not, I don't know if its creators
intended for it to ever be used for UI).

What you propose has already been done in a media player: Clementine.
And it looks weird.

[Bug 1127521] Re: shotwell crashes after a while of Updating library...

2013-02-24 Thread Arie Skliarouk
It would be nice if shotwell check whether underlying filesystem
supports necessary locking semantics and show informative error message
if it is not the case.

Doesn't explicit file lock operation returns error if file locking
failed??
