[Bug 1154813] [NEW] Boot broken with initramfs-tools 0.103ubuntu0.5b1
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi Today I upgraded udev and initramfs-tools to version 0.103ubuntu0.5b1. The update of initramfs-tools seems to cause boot issues. As it doesn't wait long enough for /dev/by-uuid/ to come available, the boot cannot be completed. You get dropped into initramfs busybox. If you exit the busybox after some seconds, the system boots normally. Downgrading initramfs-tools fixes the issue. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) Status: In Progress -- Boot broken with initramfs-tools 0.103ubuntu0.5b1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1154813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 94056] Re: configure automatic proxy with identification
We need this add username and password feature included in GNOME Control Center, and we absolutely need it hides our password when type it. Why? Because we have 2 type of connection: with proxy and without. We want to easily pass apt-get through proxy authentication, without editing /etc/apt/apt.conf like in this: http://malsasa.wordpress.com/2012/11/26/bagaimana-mengatur-apt-get-di- belakang-proxy-server/. When we set username and password in apt-conf, in proxy connection, we can get apt-get works. But when we go to nonproxy connection, we use GNOME Control Center to set proxy = none. Indeed, we can go online without proxy. But if we do this, we miss all apt.conf password setting. And we should do apt.conf setting for too many times. So, easily enter username and password (must be hidden when type) included in GNOME Control Center, is very important feature. Synaptic Preferences for proxy authentication is a perfect example. We need such feature to be included in GNOME Control Center. If GNOME Control Center hasn't hiding password feature, of generally we must edit apt.conf (or such) text file to enable proxy, it is dangerous I think in Ubuntu user's security. Someone can steal our proxy password. It is very easy to open apt.conf file. Whereas, e.g. the password is our campus absolute access key. I think such this password management must be exist in GNOME Control Center soon. [Bug 1154866] [NEW] keyboard shortcut allows impossible keys to be assigned
Public bug reported: Unity forbids the "Windows Key" from being used in shortcuts (LP#950160). However, the gnome-control-center keyboard shortcut application will happily allow users to try to assign keyboard shortcuts that use this key combination. gnome-control-center should not allow keys to be assigned that cannot possibly work. The user must be made aware in some fashion that the desired setting is impossible. Launch the control center; select Keyboard. Select Shortcuts. Select any function (calculator?). Hit Windows+d to assign. Note the assignment "worked". Try your key. It won't start the calculator. I think I have found a solution to this problem - and I don't think its a bug anymore. Trying on another router, I found it not to disconnect anymore. [Bug 828756] Re: getting "connection is untrusted" warnings
Ok, as far as KDE goes, the fix is to remove empathy. For some reason, when empathy was installed, the KDE Telepathy stuff was using empathy to authenticate, and it was failing. The Gtk error box and non-KDE desktop notification should have tipped me off sooner, but it wasn't until I brought up the KWin Special Application Settings for the Gtk "self- signed certificate" error box and saw that it was from the empathy process that I made the connection. After removing empathy, when I tried to connect to GTalk, I got a kdewallet prompt, clicked Allow Always, and now it works fine.
