[Bug 1170164] [NEW] can't switch input method at all

2013-04-17 Thread B Bobo
Public bug reported:

Normally gnome-terminal allows the user to switch the input method by
pressing a special key combination.

Sometimes gnome-terminal gets into a state where it seems to ignore the
special key combination for switching the input method in ibus - it is
permanently locked in the default input method for English. There is no
clear pattern of usage or trigger for when it happens.

1. The problem is not solved by resetting the terminal using the menu Terminal
-> Reset, or Terminal -> Reset and Clear
2. The problem is also not solved even by starting a new gnome-terminal from
the menu, File -> Open Terminal -> Default
3. However, using the command-line to start a new terminal with the factory
disabled does make input method switching work again: gnome-terminal
--disable-factory but doing this obviously loses all the session information
in the previous gnome-terminal.

This has been happening in all versions of Ubuntu since 10.04 until
12.04.02 precise, with gnome-terminal up to and including version
3.4.1.1-0ubuntu1 and ibus version 1.4.1-3ubuntu1

This is a really annoying bug.

[Bug 1170095] Re: sip account setup page takes 50 seconds to display

2013-04-17 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
** Summary changed:

- cannot setup sip account
+ sip account setup page takes 50 seconds to display

** Description changed:

- I tried to make a sip call and realised that my sip config has been lost
- (it was setup about a year ago on precise).
+ Open system settings, click online accounts, click new, select sip.

- Anyway I installed accounts-plugin-sip and expected to be able to setup
- sip.
+ Using stopwatch time the behaviour.

- I open system settings -> online accounts -> click add -> choose SIP.
+ 50 seconds later the form gets rendered to input sip details.

- Then I am present with an ambitious screen with no obvious way to setup
- SIP.
+ I have a 32GB of RAM and 8-core i7 cpu.. I have a reasonable
+ expection for that form to render isntantly.

- Furthermore ekiga is also using the same accounts mechanism, so I was
- not able to use ekiga either. In the end I used skype credit to dial
- into conference room via PSTN.
-
- I would have rather used my company's VoIP / SIP account instead to call
- internal extension.
-
- See screenshot
-
- ProblemType: Bug
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04
- Package: account-plugin-sip 3.6.4-0ubuntu3
- ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-18.28-generic 3.8.6
- Uname: Linux 3.8.0-18-generic x86_64
- ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8
- Architecture: amd64
- Date: Wed Apr 17 20:51:20 2013
- InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-01-12 (461 days ago)
- InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Alpha amd64 (20130318)
- MarkForUpload: True
- SourcePackage: empathy
- UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
+ Clicking to go back to "all settings", reentering online-accounts,
+ clicking new, sip, the form now renders instantly.

[Bug 864479] Re: System goes to hibernate or suspend even when set to "Don't suspend"

2013-04-17 Thread Chris Weiss
I just upgraded from Lucid to Precise and now my desktop suspends when
idle, it never did before. power applet looks right, switching to
suspend and back doens't affect it.

My screen saver is also completely gone, but that's another issue.

I'll try the other suggestions here and update, but I wanted to put this
note in the the bug still exists at least for upgrades.

[Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-04-17 Thread James M. Leddy
Unfortunately, the patch to gnome-settings-daemon didn't get in soon
enough to make the raring release, and we're past feature freeze. But at
the same time, we also don't have a new enough x11proto-core to use the
XF86MicMute keysym anyway. The first version that works is
xproto-7.0.24, released on March 29th, and the latest version debian has
is 7.0.23.

In any case, I've created a PPA that allows intersted people to try the
new functionality present in g-s-d (using F20). Please only proceed if
you are confident in what you're doing. If you're using a thinkpad, the
first thing you need to do is edit your /lib/udev/keymaps/module-lenovo
file so that 'micmute' is 'f20', since we will be using f20 for that
key. Other laptops already have proper udev keymap files.

The second thing is to make sure keycode 198 is maped to 'F20' as far as
X is concerned. This is easily done with

xmodmap -e "keycode 198 = F20"

To make it permant, edit your ~/.Xmodmap file

And finally install gnome-settings-daemon from the PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~jm-leddy/+archive/micmute
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xmodmap

[Bug 1170083] [NEW] Can not add Yahoo account on fresh raring installs

2013-04-17 Thread Robert Roth
Public bug reported:

On fresh raring installs (I have tried on 3) when trying to add a yahoo
account, on first try I do see the username and password boxes, but after
pressing done/cancel, I can not get them to show again, neither by adding a new
yahoo account, nor by editing the existing one. (Only the Cancel and Done
buttons appear, no textboxes)
This did work on Quantal.

After debugging, the line it seems to get blocked on is "if
(priv->ready)" in method empathy_account_settings_check_readyness from
empathy-account-settings.c (the debug log before is printed, but the log
after - neither the one in the if nor the one after the closing bracket
- is not).

Let me know if I can help you with any further details.

As a note: the symptoms are similar to the ones of bug #1147639, only
that one is for the IRC provider.

[Bug 919385] Re: Feature request: zoom out

2013-04-17 Thread Lucas Beeler
Shotwell isn't an image viewer, it's a photo manager with an optional
direct-editing mode targeted at touching up single photos quickly. If we
were to allow zoom-out in Shotwell, the image would become progressively
smaller, no longer filling the whole of the photo viewing canvas. What
you'd end up with would be a small photo with a huge amount of blank
space around it. What would be the use case for this? Just my two cents.

gnome-sound-applet does not handle correctly the mouse scroll events (at

maybe inches one notch ahead and then get's stuck there. actually, each

scroll up produces only one single increment of volume. if the slider is
closed and opened again, this can be repeated, again only for one
notch...

[Bug 1169927] [NEW] totem-plugin-viewer segfaults when trying to stream a WMV/WMA based video

[Bug 1169927] Re: totem-plugin-viewer segfaults when trying to stream a WMV/WMA based video

2013-04-17 Thread Henry Lin
** Description changed:

  Reproduce link:
  http://www.catchplay.com/iframe/trailer_lightbox_720_video.php?video_id=19632

  The actual video link is

mms://cht-tp2-wsrv1.catchplay.com/trailer/archive/splinter_trailer_102s_550x370_20090326.wmv

- using VLC plugin , totem player itself is normal however.
+ However if I browse this link
+
cht-tp2-wsrv1.catchplay.com/trailer/archive/splinter_trailer_102s_550x370_20090326.wmv
+ directly in browser will be fine
+
+ Play the link with Totem player itself is normal however.

[Bug 1081019] Re: Benchmark for Harddisk fail

2013-04-17 Thread Ilan Tal
I can duplicate the bug on a SanDisk, usb disk on key. the g-io-error-quark is
13.
The disk on key is working fine. I thought this might mean a bad sector, but
apparently it is just a bug.

[Bug 899858] Re: regression in gvfs to connect/browse using obex

2013-04-17 Thread Steve White
I too am having similar experiences with 12.10. It looks like
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1076835

Also, I'm using the Ubuntu crash reporter thing report a crash that just
happened.
The report that the reporter says it will send, says there is an existing report
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1063599
but... I tried that URL and I don't seem to have access to it. What gives?

[Bug 1169533] Re: totem não funciona

2013-04-17 Thread Adela Suhani
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We noticed that some of the sentences in this bug report
are not in English. If they were translated to English they would be
more understandable to triagers. Could you please translate them?

BWT, my latest ubuntu 12.04 box is often freeze.(mouse stop, any keys:
Ctrl+Alt+F1/Del, NumLock, CapsLock etc are not reponsible)
I tried check hardware:
run "sensors" command , and CPU temperature is ok(~30C) (most time, the freeze
occured when CPU load is not high)
check memory, passed.
run disk check, passed
and run some games, e.g: torcs, Never freeze.
It seems that the freeze mostly occurs when opening/saving files. but I can not
reproduce it.

Thanks!
