[Bug 778054] Re: Trouble when removing transitional packages
wine1.4-common went away properly in raring. It's a transitional package in precise but not for the traditional reason (a package rename), but rather as a workaround to ensure the multiarch dependencies work out correctly when upgrading from 10.04. While it contained no files, it did have a purpose in making the dependency chain resolve correctly. [Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
I just realised this bug with gvfs, as randolf just pointed out, could very well be directly related to the problem I have been experiencing since 12.10 with LibreOffice hanging randomly sometimes opening and somtimes saving files opened from a samba share mounted with Nautilus sometimes causing data loss. Sometimes I have had to reboot to recover from a hung Libreoffice session when saving to a samba share and retype entries into my spreadsheed on local disk and then copy it up to the samba share. As a work around for now I am using Smb4K to get my Windows shares mapped so I shall test my theory out. If this is right, and from the sounds of it this bug affects several packages related to music and office (not just nautilus), you are quite right Romano to get this risen to critical status. [Bug 406373] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in rb_encoder_encode()
I got something like this problem. It gives me a kernel error. The problem occurs when I try to use Rythmbox to copy tracks to my ipod. i686 xubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 the same. I filed as crash report. It has been like this for many months. I had been waiting for upgrade in the hope that this would correct the problem. It has not. I have meanwhile been copying tracks for my ipod onto a usb and then doing the transfer using Rhythmbox on another machine running Xubuntu 12.04 i386. The later Xubuntu version did not install on this machine because the kernel dropped support for non-PAE CPUs. This may suggest a kernal problem. The following line appeared in kern.log when Rhythmbox crashed: May 21 19:46:03 Bonzo kernel: [36390.947600] rhythmbox[5566]: segfault at 30 ip 7f5a9122ecd0 sp 7fff127575e8 error 4 in libgstpbutils-1.0.so.0.6.0[7f5a9121f000+22000] This may be a different error to the one being dealt with here. [Bug 271755] Re: variable rate mp3 have wrong length
This bug is still present in version 2.98 under ubuntu raring 13.04. Seeing the importance set to LOW, while 5 years passed from the first report, is outraging. Most of my files are vbr encoded mp3, and I cant check song duration, cant jump to a position in song, or see where the current playing position is, because rhythmbox shows incorrect duration for mp3 songs encoded in variable bitrate. This is unacceptable for a media player, and should have been resolved years ago. I hope you recognise what a major bug this is. I really like your player, but unfortunately this bug makes it neccessary to have another player, so I can jump into vbr encoded songs too. [Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)
Hi Martin, I don't think we should close it just yet. The key still maps to micmute (as you mention), and upstream udev and X and gnome-settings-daemon all agree on f20. I can prepare a bzr branch if it makes things easier. Alternately we could just wait for udev v199 or greater to land in the distro, but I don't consider it closed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408903 Title: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/408903/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1100386] Re: Server installations on VMs fail to reboot after the installations
Although this is fundamentally a kernel issue, the current kernel infrastructure would really only be able to abort anyone use the 'being replaced' framebuffer when we switch from efifb to a DRM framebuffer. This change will likely be extensive and slow to get through upstream. Also plymouth will have to be modified to handle being aborted and reconnect to the replacement transparently. In the short term we can avoid this issue the same way we avoided it for vesafb by demoting the driver to a secondary display. This means we only use efifb at all if no DRM driver appears. Neatly avoiding the issue. As we have now (early saucy) moved udev over to systemd sources I have proposed this against both udev and systemd. udev for raring and systemd for saucy. I will attach patches once they are tested. ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Raring) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Raring) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Raring) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Raring) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Whitcroft (apw) ** Also affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu Raring) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu Raring) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu Raring) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu Raring) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Whitcroft (apw) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Andy Whitcroft (apw) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1100386 Title: Server installations on VMs fail to reboot after the installations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1100386/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

If i do ctrl+alt+F1 and go back then i can see the icon muted and gnome unstuck. But mute button seems to do nothing from this point. Button worked on previous Ubuntu version up to lucid or maverick, but im not sure which one it is. [Bug 1067876] Re: Missing "Safely Remove Drive" option from Quicklists. Only have "Eject".
What's the matter with the developers of Nautilus? Under Ubuntu 13.04, I can no longer see all attached drives. Instead, 'Computer' now displays the root directory of the main drive, which is wrong. My mobile broadband dongle doesn't show up at all anymore and it seems to have been affected after constantly removing it without being able to eject it. I now have to use Disk Utility to eject it properly. If Disk Utility can see all attached devices and provide the ability to eject them, then why can't Nautilus anymore? Besides this big problem, the arrangement on the toolbar is so inconsistent and there is no status bar anymore to show the total number of items. Please restore essential functionality and provide a decent interface. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1067876 Title: Missing "Safely Remove Drive" option from Quicklists.
