[Bug 1195077] [NEW] date and time displays "Date format not supported"

2013-06-26 Thread Kat Volk
Public bug reported:

I attempted to change the time display in the top menu bar of the unity

this message being displayed instead

For > 3.8 it is just required to source the vte.sh script. It is no
longer required to mess around with exporting an updated PS1.

As a workaround, add the following line to the end of ~/.bashrc:
. /etc/profile.d/vte.sh

[Bug 808106] Re: Shortcut for changing tabs should be Ctrl-PgDn/PgUp

2013-06-26 Thread markba
I don't understand. In the upstream bug report it is stated that Ctrl-
Alt-PgUp/PgDn is part op GTK. I tested it and indeed it works with both
gedit and nautilus. However, nautilus does also have Ctrl-PgUp/PgDn. Is
that part of GTK also or is it a specific implementation of nautilus?
And: if it's part of GTK, how come gedit does not have that behaviour?

I'm closing this since it was also closed by the gedit developers. They
say that these keyboard shortcuts are part of GTK, not gedit and can be
customized in GTK.

[Bug 321720]

2013-06-26 Thread James H. Cloos Jr.
Adobe would have to document XFA forms before this even could be
addressed.

The most up to date info I could find on that front is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XFA#Standardization

As long as Adobe keeps XFA forms proprietary they are not potable and
livecycle and acroread are the only way to deal with them.

Speaking only for myself, I’d go so far as to say that private,
unpublished extensions to the PDF format make the file not PDF.

Support for ECMA-Script, on the other hand, is merely a matter of
coding.

Until poppler or evince add it, you might want to try compiling mupdf
master

  (git clone git://git.ghostscript.com/mupdf.git)

with -DV8_PRESENT=1. You’ll need to install v8 first. Your
distribution might pacakge it, else look at http://code.google.com/p/v8.

[Bug 1192202] Re: LibreOffice doesn't work right

2013-06-26 Thread papukaija
Thank you for your reply. The crash is most likely related to the crash
in your graphics driver (ie. bug 1191334) so I'm moving this bug to the
brasero package as it looks like that Brasero fails to burn the CD
correctly. Thanks.

** Package changed: libreoffice (Ubuntu) => brasero (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => New

** Summary changed:

- LibreOffice doesn't work right
+ Discs burnt with Brasero cannot always be opened in Windows

** Description changed:

- Every time i try to work with libre office seems it is very difficult
- and no secure. The libre office writer window gets dark ,freezes and
- saves the document without me asking for and not even showing that it is
- saved. Who saves my writting and puts in stuff that when i transfer this
- on a cd doesn't work the most of the times.
+ CDs burnt with Brasero fails to open in friends' computuers on Windows
+ but open fine on my computer. The filename of the PDF file on the CD has
+ a rhombus between the letters meaning that something is wrong.

[Bug 891959] Re: RuntimeWarning: PyOS_InputHook is not available for interactive use of PyGTK

In detail, I downloaded the hplip-3.13.6.run installer and followed the
installation instructions (that is, just execute "sh hplip-3.13.6.run") but
after a while, maybe just at the end of the installation procedure, I got the
following message:

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py:127: RuntimeWarning:

[Bug 1194875] [NEW] Empathy still receives messages while offline and not running

2013-06-26 Thread Brian Curtis
Public bug reported:

I'll be using google chat through my gmail account in the browser and
it doesn't matter how many times i kill telepathy-gabble or empathy-
chat, I will still receive a message on empathy sent to my telepathy-
gabble account.

I don't think this is specifically telepathy-gabble since I have killed
telepathy-gabble many times and this issue still reoccurs. In fact I
can't find a way to stop receiving messages yet.

Reproduce:
-Launch empathy, setup (or use) a telepathy gabble account and receive an IM.
-Quit empathy
-kill empathy-chat telepathy-gabble in terminal
-receive an IM from a telepathy-gabble contact.

I added telepathy-gabble because there is still a 50/50 possibility it's
related to that package as well.

[Bug 1194783] [NEW] Gnome Control Centre Display configuration throws error

2013-06-26 Thread Cefn
Public bug reported:

I am able to launch and run the Gnome monitor/display control utility by
launching the following in Lubuntu 13.04

sudo gnome-control-center display

...but whenever I try to actually trigger a change to the display
layout, it throws the following error in a dialog...

Failed to apply configuration: %s
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files

I suspect this is because some dependency of gnome-control-center is
implicit. Perhaps there is a service which I need to manually start
before this will succeed.

This is important as the behaviour of the Gnome monitor control is much
richer than other xrandr wrappers like lxrandr or arandr, and in general
having access to gnome controls (e.g. for mouse configuration) would be
far preferable to the minimal Lubuntu ones.

In particular I would like to retain control of which is the primary
screen (in Compiz and LXDE) so that the panel stays on the correct
monitor, regardless of the specific layout (currently with the correct
layout for the physical placement of my monitors, the panel arrives on
the wrong monitor and is invisible). This feature only seems to exist
within the Gnome control panel.

[Bug 1194769] [NEW] Nautilus thumbnails disappeared and won't return in Ubuntu 12.04

2013-06-26 Thread Peter-and-Crazybear
Public bug reported:

When I first upgraded to 12.04 from 11.04 [via 11.10] the thumbnails
were just perfect. I think [not 100% sure] that once when I had to
reinstall grub to boot, all desktop icons except folders and LibraOffice
docs are represented by clocks - not thumbnails!?! I have tried a
variety of fixes I see posted, but NONE worked, so far. I fear that
endlessly trying repairs could damage the entire system and I'd have to
re-install [for me an extraordinary amount of work, given how my system
is set up!]. I see one other person who reported the exact same thing
happen when they re-installed grub, so wonder how and if that was the
problem and how to repair. I have tried to edit the gconf and the
settings in Nautilus and a few other 'tricks' suggested. None had any
effect and luckily none further damaged the system, as far as I can
determine...but I'm left with a horrible looking desktop and it is very
difficult to find photos without the thumbnails!

[Bug 1194767] [NEW] printer recognized, scans, but DOESN'T PRINT! HELP! PLEASE!

2013-06-26 Thread Peter-and-Crazybear
Public bug reported:

I have a Canon Pixma MP540 printer. OK, not the best or most modern, but
it did work [after MUCH work! - hours of] in Ubuntu 11.04. Since
I've upgraded to 12.04.2 [a few months ago] I have been UNABLE to find a
fix. I see many suggested on the internet, but they either are for other
Cannon models, too complex for me to figure out what is being suggested,
or don't work. it is a real pain to have to reboot to Windoz to print
something! Any pointers on how to solve this problem or new updates on
Ubuntu's end would be most appreciated. The printer is recognized and
scans finebut every print job just winds up in the print que
forever.

[Bug 1006490] Re: Gnome Classic 12.04 panel applet “Force Quit” locks up system, hardware reboot to recover

2013-06-26 Thread Peter-and-Crazybear
Yes, the one that come with the 12.04 install freezes all up. I can't
even get rid of it..I just try not to touch it. However, I added via
terminal another force-quit and it works fine. They just need to add the
working one to the install package - or make that one install properly.
