[Bug 199167] Re: Owner changed after saving file

2013-06-27 Thread Will Rouesnel
Confirmed for 13.04 as well.

When logged into an SFTP share as root, if I edit a file by another user
and hit save the file's permissions get reset to root:root.

This is a very big problem editing web-pages or configuration files
which might been specific ownerships and not be world-readable since
they then can't be loaded.

[Bug 575877] Re: gnome-keyring mysteriously asks for keyring password on startup

2013-06-27 Thread markling
Further info.

The keyring password request started appearing after I opened a Software
Centre account. It seems to appear when the Software Updater runs.

This might suggest - in relation to kwill's question - that the problem
is related to different passwords.

The Software Centre asks for a new username and password. The request is
for a low security setting: a software feeback forum on the web. It is
sensible to give it a password other than your primary/root password. It
is therefore most likely to be different to your keyring password.

This, by the way, is the only time the system ever makes mention of a
keyring password. The request for a keyring password is meaningless to
the user. The error is therefore twofold: a failure of the Update and
password manager - if, that is, they are indeed using a software forum
password for software updates; and a failure of the user
interface/experience - in that the request for a keyring password is a
breakdown of usual user protocol.

[Bug 1168582] Re: Google talk Requires Authorization after suspend/resume

2013-06-27 Thread Tristan BENOIST
I experience the same bug. If I want empathy to connect to my google
talk account I must delete it from my account list and suppress the
authorization for ubuntu in my google account settings then I have to
add again my google account in ubuntu.

One thing strange is that when I add again my google account, chromium
(which is not my default browser) is launched to a blank page
(about:blank) twice: for the login page and for the authorization page.
This does not stop the authorization process.

I am runnig a 13.04 ubuntu version uptodate.

[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-06-27 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Tomas, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gdm into raring-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/3.6.1-0ubuntu4.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1193018] Re: GOA support not completely split

2013-06-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ok, I've looked at this and committed a fix for this to the ~ubuntu-
desktop branch but there's a bit more to be done…

Without that .so, Evolution won't be able to connect to Google Calendar.
This is especially confusing because with evolution-data-server-uoa
installed, Ubuntu Online Accounts includes a provider labeled 'Evolution
Data Server - Access your Google calendar'.

Also I found that I couldn't close Evolution until it eventually timed
out trying to access my Google Calendar.

That .so depends on libgoa indirectly because it depends on libgdata
which depends on libgoa. That doesn't seem to me like an easily
removable dependency.

Here's some ideas for fixes:
- Have evolution depend on evolution-data-server-goa
- Split that .so into a separate package, maybe evolution-data-server-gcal and
have evolution-data-server-goa and a new package,
evolution-data-server-uoa-gcal depend on it. That has an added benefit of users
not seeing an option for Access your Google calendar provider when the
default Ubuntu install doesn't actually provide a UOA-linked Google calendar
client.

[Bug 1043246] Re: modem manager crashes with SIGSEGV (Lubuntu 12.04)

2013-06-27 Thread Artyom Khropot
I made a tricky install of modemmanager 0.6 on 12.04 LTS (which originally
uses MM 0.5) and the bug disappeared.
So I think it's purely a modemmanager bug, already solved in the last version.

[Bug 727207] Re: file-roller cannot extract single file with special character in file name

Closing due to age (and because the file extracts fine for me in 13.04).

If a similar problem appears in 13.04 please open a new report.

[Bug 1195530] [NEW] Nautilus cannot properly determine properties of file over gvfs samba share

2013-06-27 Thread Mike Beach
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 13.04
Release:13.04

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16
  Candidate: 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu16 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Mounting a samba share via gvfs (files navigating to the server and
authenticating) displays the files. Right-clicking on any file and clicking the
permissions tab gives The permissions of file cannot be determined. (see
screenshot attached)

The properties display correctly from the command line:

mike@mike-Latitude-E6510:/run/user/mike/gvfs/smb-share:server=ulysses,share=mike/comics$
 ls -l babies.jpg
-rwx-- 1 mike mike 72238 Apr 21 10:09 babies.jpg

I can verify read/write by opening the file (reading) and deleting it
(writing) or even overwriting it, but the following fails:

* Open the image using Image Viewer
* Rotate it
* Click Image  Save

Could not save image 'babies.jpg'. You do not have the permissions
necessary to save the file.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1195568] [NEW] glib2.0 2.37.3-1ubuntu1: invalid changelog entry format

2013-06-27 Thread Daniel Hartwig
Public bug reported:

The changelog entry for 2.37.3-1ubuntu1 is unterminated [1], flowing in
to the next entry for the unreleased debian changes. The following does
not conform to changelog format as defined by debian-policy [2]:

glib2.0 (2.37.3-1ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise on unrelease Debian SVN (glib is in NEW there). Remaining
change:
- Build-Depend on python:any for cross building.

glib2.0 (2.37.3-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=low

  * libglib2.0-tests: Depend on shared-mime-info required by contenttype test.
  * New upstream release
  * 0001-Revert-g_file_set_contents-don-t-fsync-on-ext3-4.patch: Drop, now
upstream.
  * debian/tests/installed-tests: Add a new DEP-8 test to run the
installed-tests. Doesn't use the test runner yet as this isn't packaged.
  * Refresh patches.
  * Update symbols file.

[1] Resulting in perhaps parser errors, for example (perhaps unrelated)
http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/saucy/glib2.0 fails to list the binary
packages built by this source.
