[Bug 760344] Re: gvfsd-http not closing tcp connections
Ok, I looked again at the launchpad headers, and I think I understand the situation better now. Please correct me if I am wrong: The Ubuntu patchset has been updated and will be part of the next release. Hence it has been marked as "Fix Committed". (If you click the link "Fix Committed" it shows a nice legend of what it means). The "Invalid" tag is only for the upstream package, because probably the upstream package doesn't have the bug anymore. For "Precise" and "Quantal" the status is "triaged" which means the fix hasn't been backported yet. Now a request, can someone apply the patches to Raring atleast? That will not only help a lot of Raring users, it will also help test the patch better. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760344 Title: gvfsd-http not closing tcp connections To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/760344/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 760344] Re: gvfsd-http not closing tcp connections
The outspoken users here seem to be a little too brash. I think rudeness is uncalled for. Please "request" the developers for help gently. To the developers, please provide more information before closing the bug. This is a reproducible bug and I think it is a security concern in two ways: 1. By default, connections are being established in the background. This could be used to track users on the server side. 2. These connections are then not getting closed! Even if you don't agree that this is a security issue, this is definitely a valid bug! Also, I am a little confused about what is called upstream bugs v/s ubuntu bugs. If Ubuntu is maintaining a patchset, should bugs be tracked against Ubuntu or upstream? Secondly, is there a Ubuntu patchset involved here? Finally, which packages are affected? If I don't want any of these connections until the bug s fixed, which all packages should I remove from my system? This appears fixed (in that the idle-delay is correctly set) after applying today's updates to 13.10 daily. The combobox still does defaults to showing Never. [Bug 1125011] Re: screen save still active after being disabled
Running latest 13.10 daily. This appears to be a very simple bug in gnome-settings-center where the "Never" option is plain broken. The behavior is easy to verify by using dconf-editor. Setting the"Turn screen off when inactive for:" variable to any of the other options updates a variable called "idle-delay" in gnome::desktop::session. Selecting 10 minutes, for example, sets the value to 600. An hour to 3600. Selecting "Never" doesn't change the variable. Manually changing the "idle-delay" value to 0 results in the expected "Never" behavior. Presumably, this is what the "Never" option should do, although disabling the "gnome::desktop::screensaver::idle-activation-enabled" bool would accomplish the same thing. Related, gnome-settings-center doesn't correctly check the idle-delay value and simply sets the combobox to Never when the Brightness & Lock screen is entered. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1125011 Title: screen save still active after being disabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1125011/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
