[Bug 1155575] Re: Rhythmbox not reading 'year' tag

2013-09-16 Thread Jenne_87
I have re-read my complete library today.
Here, I have the same problem.

All "Year" tags are displayed as "Unknown".

ubuntu 13.04 x64
rythembox 2.98

The program is unusable without "year" tags.

[Bug 760344] Re: gvfsd-http not closing tcp connections

2013-09-16 Thread HRJ
Ok, I looked again at the launchpad headers, and I think I understand
the situation better now. Please correct me if I am wrong:

The Ubuntu patchset has been updated and will be part of the next
release. Hence it has been marked as "Fix Committed". (If you click the
link "Fix Committed" it shows a nice legend of what it means).

The "Invalid" tag is only for the upstream package, because probably the
upstream package doesn't have the bug anymore.

For "Precise" and "Quantal" the status is "triaged" which means the fix
hasn't been backported yet.

Now a request, can someone apply the patches to Raring atleast? That
will not only help a lot of Raring users, it will also help test the
patch better.

[Bug 760344] Re: gvfsd-http not closing tcp connections

2013-09-16 Thread HRJ
The outspoken users here seem to be a little too brash. I think rudeness
is uncalled for. Please "request" the developers for help gently.

To the developers, please provide more information before closing the
bug. This is a reproducible bug and I think it is a security concern in
two ways:

1. By default, connections are being established in the background. This
could be used to track users on the server side.

2. These connections are then not getting closed!

Even if you don't agree that this is a security issue, this is
definitely a valid bug!

Also, I am a little confused about what is called upstream bugs v/s
ubuntu bugs. If Ubuntu is maintaining a patchset, should bugs be tracked
against Ubuntu or upstream? Secondly, is there a Ubuntu patchset
involved here?

Finally, which packages are affected? If I don't want any of these
connections until the bug s fixed, which all packages should I remove
from my system?

Thanks!

[Bug 1153934] Re: Some radio streams which used to play OK don't play after updating to rhythmbox 2.98 or higher due a gvfs bug

2013-09-16 Thread Jenske
Unfortunately, having had this problem several months and _not_ having
found any solution -- the killing of gvfsd-http did not work for me -- I
almost accidentaly bumped into Clementine.

This program works perfectly for me and so I've threwn away Rhythmbox.
I'll be using Clementine for the future. Clementine does play the
audiostreams I'm used to listen to (e.g. http://217.23.7.117:8128 and
http://mp3.streampower.be/klaracontinuo-high).

So in a sens killing Rhythmbox did the job for me ;)

[Bug 1226308] [NEW] Sync gconf-editor 3.0.1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-09-16 Thread Artur Rona
Public bug reported:

Please sync gconf-editor 3.0.1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * debian/patches/git_selection_change_segfault.patch:
- replaced previous patch by the version commited to git, it's a bit
  simpler and should address a segfault issue as well (lp: #945893)
  * debian/patches/git_selection_change_segfault.patch:
- replaced previous patch by the version commited to git, it's a bit
  simpler and should address a segfault issue as well (lp: #945893)
  * debian/patches/git_selection_change_segfault.patch:

  simpler and should address a segfault issue as well (lp: #945893)
  * debian/patches/git_selection_change_segfault.patch:
- replaced previous patch by the version commited to git, it's a bit
  simpler and should address a segfault issue as well (lp: #945893)
  * debian/patches/01_nodisplay.patch:
- dropped, without it gconf-editor is not listed in i.e unity dash
  * debian/patches/selection_change_segfault.patch:
- block "changed" signal during model changes to avoid having
  callbacks wrongly called, which leads to issues (lp: #912116)

Delta has been applied in Debian:
git_selection_change_segfault.patch -> 02_fix_assertion_failed_crash.patch

Furthermore, in Debian are small changes, as well.

Changelog entries since current saucy version 3.0.1-1ubuntu2:

gconf-editor (3.0.1-2) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Josselin Mouette ]
  * Update repository URL.

  [ Andreas Henriksson ]
  * Add debian/patches/02_fix_assertion_failed_crash.patch (Closes: #670586)
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.4
  * Add build-dependency on autotools-dev to fix outdated helper files.

[Bug 1225413] Re: graphic

2013-09-16 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

The following warning is thrown:

Affects all video formats on sftp. Thumbnails are shown for local files and
thumbnails are shown for images on sftp.
All necessary codecs are installed on both machines. And they're both running
ubuntu 13.04 (Issue first popped up after 12.10 upgrade)

There appears to be a related bug:

[Bug 1125011] Re: screen save still active after being disabled

2013-09-16 Thread fyo
This appears fixed (in that the idle-delay is correctly set) after
applying today's updates to 13.10 daily. The combobox still does
defaults to showing Never.

That is, selecting "Never" now changes the idle-delay value to 0, as
expected.

The patch set contained updates to gnome-control-center
(3.6.3-0ubuntu37) as well as gnome-settings-daemon (3.8.5-0ubuntu3).
None of the changes stand out as likely candidates, so I'm unable to
explain what fixed the issue for me.

[Bug 1125011] Re: screen save still active after being disabled

2013-09-16 Thread fyo
Running latest 13.10 daily.

This appears to be a very simple bug in gnome-settings-center where the
"Never" option is plain broken.

The behavior is easy to verify by using dconf-editor.

Setting the"Turn screen off when inactive for:" variable to any of the
other options updates a variable called "idle-delay" in
gnome::desktop::session. Selecting 10 minutes, for example, sets the
value to 600. An hour to 3600.

Selecting "Never" doesn't change the variable.

Manually changing the "idle-delay" value to 0 results in the expected
"Never" behavior.

Presumably, this is what the "Never" option should do, although
disabling the "gnome::desktop::screensaver::idle-activation-enabled"
bool would accomplish the same thing.

Related, gnome-settings-center doesn't correctly check the idle-delay
value and simply sets the combobox to Never when the Brightness & Lock
screen is entered.

[Bug 1065979] Re: external/internal monitors mirrored on boot when laptop lid is closed

2013-09-16 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Booting laptop in docking station with lid closed results in low
resolution (1024x768/aka clone mode) on external monitor
+ * Low resolution desktop (1024x768) when user logs in, must be manually set
to optimal resolution for external montior
+ * non-technical users would find the default behaviour not the desired
behaviour.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Steps to Reproduce:
+ 1. Connect an external monitor to laptop.
+ 2. Boot system with lid closed with a clean new user
+ 3. Login screen is shown at 1024x768 ( the highest common resolution
supported by both the displays)
+
+ The laptop display ( say 1366x768) should have a lower resolution than
+ the connected external monitor ( say 1920x1080 ) .
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ * I dont see any regression potential here, as this does not change any
default behaviour.
+ * User must manually activate this "new" behaviour .
+
+ [Other Info]
+ * test packages have been posted to -
http://people.canonical.com/~ritesh/work/gsd/
+ * Update to this, and update default to "follow-lid"
+  $ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xrandr \
+default-monitors-setup "follow-lid"
+  * test as usual
+
+
-
+
  If I put my X220 in a dock, and plug in an external monitor. Then I
  close the lid and turn on the computer, the computer will boot up with
  both the internal laptop screen and external monitor on and mirror.
  Because I can't see the laptop screen, I would expect the external
  monitor to be only on at its maximum resolution. I've actually tried
  this without the dock by plugging in an external monitor to my laptop
  and shutting the lid during boot quickly, the same problem persists.
  This problem is exhibited on Precise/Oneiric as well as Quantal.

- In particular this specification mentions this behavior:
+ In particular this specification mentions this behavior:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Blueprints/MultiMonitor
  In this user story:
  """Alan goes to the office, puts his laptop with the lid closed into a
docking station and boots it up. The external display should be run at its
native resolution. Later that day he needs to see a customer. He suspends the
laptop and takes it out of the docking station. At the customer he wakes up the
laptop and the internal screen is used at its native resolution. Finishing his
visit the laptop is suspended, brought back to the office. There it is placed
in the docking station, woken up and the external display should run again at
its native resolution."""

[Bug 1065979] Re: external/internal monitors mirrored on boot when laptop lid is closed

2013-09-16 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
Allow for "follow-lid" behaviour .

if two monitors are connected, go to "xinerama" mode by default, when
the internal display is closed, choose the best resolution on the
external display.
