[Bug 1226642] Re: Nautilus uses ubuntu username/password when acessing a windows share

2013-09-17 Thread Evan
** Description changed:

When the windows and ubuntu user accounts have the same name nautilus
will try to use the ubuntu username and password when accessing a
windows share. Nautilus will then keep retrying the same username and
password even though it didn't work the first time. This causes my
  account to be locked out.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create an Ubuntu account and a samba account with the same username but
different passwords.
  2. Set samba to lock out an account after 3 failed logins.
  3. Attempt to access the samba share from nautilus. (File > Enter Location >
"smb://windows/share")
- 4. Nautilus displays a message that the path does not exist. The actual error
message, as seen in the wireshark logs, is that the account is locked out.
+ 4. Nautilus displays a message that the path does not exist. The actual error
message, as seen in the wireshark logs, is that the account is locked out.
+
+ Expected Behavior
+
+ After step 3 nautilus will prompt for user name and password to use to
+ connect to the windows share. If the password fails, nautilus will
+ prompt for a new password and not keep retrying the old one.

  Workarounds

  - Use smbclient, it will not attempt to use your ubuntu username and passward.
  - Change one of the user names
  - Use the same password for both accounts

no keys are found if I try to use the Nautilus plugin. It says it will
now I try to run seahorse-daemon again and get the error message: "No
encryption keys were found with which to perform the operation you
requested. The program Passwords and Encryption Keys will now be
started so that you may either create a key or import one." But actually
nothing happens.

Now, if I try to run seahorse-daemon manually, I get the following
message: "** (seahorse-daemon:18267): WARNING **: Could not load desktop
file '/usr/share/gnome/autostart/seahorse-daemon.desktop': No such file
or directory"

So it seems it's only possible to use gnupg on Ubuntu now through the
command line.

[Bug 1226695] [NEW] Permission denied error creating folder on NTFS drive

2013-09-17 Thread John Russell
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.10
Evince 3.6.0-0ubuntu2
NTFS drive with 755 and 644 permissions - fstab options include:
uid=1000,gid=1000,dmask=0022,fmask=0133

Whilst saving a copy of a PDF to the NTFS drive, and pressing the "Create
folder" button, I can enter the name of the new folder but pressing return to
create it gets the following error message:
"The folder could not be created
Error creating directory: Permission denied"

Dmesg reports:
type=1400 audit(1379431072.830:251): apparmor="DENIED" operation="mkdir"
parent=1 profile="/usr/bin/evince"
name=2F6D656469612F6A6F686E2F57696E646F777320446174612F55736572732F4A6F686E2F446F63756D656E74732F5068756B65742F4B616D616C61204261792050726F6A6563742F506C616E6E696E672F5661534C61622F323031332D30392D31372F
 pid=4534 comm="evince" requested_mask="c" denied_mask="c" fsuid=1000 ouid=1000

The operation works with the same permissions on my ext4 /home/Documents
folder.

There is no problem creating the folder on the NTFS drive from Nautilus,
so the workaround is to create the folder first in Nautilus, then save
from Evince.

[Bug 1226642] [NEW] Nautilus uses ubuntu username/password when acessing a windows share

2013-09-17 Thread Evan
Public bug reported:

When the windows and ubuntu user accounts have the same name nautilus
will try to use the ubuntu username and password when accessing a
windows share. Nautilus will then keep retrying the same username and
password even though it didn't work the first time. This causes my
account to be locked out.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create an Ubuntu account and a samba account with the same username but
different passwords.
2. Set samba to lock out an account after 3 failed logins.
3. Attempt to access the samba share from nautilus. (File > Enter Location >
"smb://windows/share")
4. Nautilus displays a message that the path does not exist. The actual error
message, as seen in the wireshark logs, is that the account is locked out.

Workarounds

- Use smbclient, it will not attempt to use your ubuntu username and passward.
- Change one of the user names
- Use the same password for both accounts

Re: [Bug 1188393] Re: gimp fires asserts

2013-09-17 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
I think the issue is that I've disabled the global (top of screen) menus in
favor of in-window menus. I believe the removed packages are only
appmenu-gtk and appmenu-gtk3.

This is still a bug, though: either gimp requires those libraries (in
which case apt / dpkg should notice) or, more reasonably, it should not (in
which case the errors on stderr should not be emitted).

I begin to suspect this may not be gimp-specific given the above.

[Bug 1051877] Re: invalid cast followed by double free

2013-09-17 Thread Thomas Hotz
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. I can't reproduce this bug
on Ubuntu 13.04 with GIMP 2.8.4. I assume this bug is fixed in the 2.8
series of gimp.

[Bug 1188393] Re: gimp fires asserts

2013-09-17 Thread Thomas Hotz
Thank you for this bug report. I can't reproduce this bug on Ubuntu
13.04.

Am I correct that you upgrade from release to release?

InstallationDate: Installed on 2010-03-13 (1181 days ago)
InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Netbook-Remix 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386
(20091028.4)

I assume something went wrong here. Have you tried to do an "sudo apt-
get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" (if you have not done it by
yourself).

I'm setting this bug to Incomple until I get a response from you.
