[Bug 993378] Re: pastebinit sould be a dependency

2013-09-18 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
The question is, why be fixated on one specific client? There are
multiple clients, and most of the time, handing the URL to a pastebin
site instead of asking the users to install yet another software is much
more straight forward and helpful. In the channels I hang out often
enough a pastebin URL is part of the topic to point people at.

I'm not really that much convinced that this is the best approach to the
issue. Why not tell users instead the URL to the sites and use the web
interface which is capable of what they might need directly? Is it
because they might be stuck without a graphical environment? Is it that
common of an issue to hook into yet another
dependency/recommends/suggests loop.

Also, you point out, fedora has something installed by default - that
doesn't sound like it's done through a dependency, is it?

Just some thoughts. :)
Rhonda

[Bug 1126343] Re: eog cannot open default ubuntu wallpaper

2013-09-18 Thread Phillip Pether
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 172416 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172416

Can't open some other PNG files too, it's not just from opening Default
Ubuntu Wallpaper from /usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png

Some PNG files open, some others don't, I don't know if it's something
to do with the way PNG images get saved that Ubuntu can't read them. I
think this should be classed as Medium Priority, I do graphic work on
Ubuntu and it's annoying I can't open PNG files because of this bug.

[Bug 1227173] [NEW] On every startup Onboard asks for enabling accessibility

2013-09-18 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Twist convertible ultrabook. The tablet mode
(touchscreen-only operation, keyboard folded away) gets continuously
working better.

I use Onboard as on-screen keyboard to do text input on my convertible
in tablet mode (see bug 1210823). This works very well but there is an
awkwardness on startup. Every time when Onboard is started (in my case
by the laptop/tablet mode switcher script) a dialog pops up which reads:

--
Enabling auto-show requires Gnome Accessibility

Onboard can turn on accessibility now, however it is recommended that
you log out and back in for it to reach its full potential.

Enable accessibility now?
--

It gives me a No and a Yes button to answer. I click Yes to get
the keyboard. Then the keyboard works correctly for the rest of the
session (I have set it to show when I am in a text field and to hide
otherwise). It does not ask when I switch to laptop mode (which kills
Onboard) and back to tablet mode (restarts Onboard), but If I log out
and log in again, it asks again.

So it seems that it is not saved to be kept over sessions that I have
answered Yes to activate accessibility mode. So I am not sure whether
really Onboard is the culprit or perhaps gnome-control-center or gnome-
settings-daemon.

[Bug 959888] Re: Volume is busy. Unmount Anyway never works.

2013-09-18 Thread Nicolas Briche
Also happens when a mounted share start to behave strangely and zombies
a process with an open file on that share. And since the message is
modal desktop-wide, and loops indefinitely, and the process can't die,
the only solution is to CTRL+ALT+F1 and reboot from there. (of course,
you loose anything that can't be properly shutdown from CLI)

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 771896 ***

Hibernate is completly different from saving a session in a file. What's
about, many users? dual boot? power failure? This functionality is
mandatory for many users, a key functionnality. I really don't
understand the low priority.

@roignac I don't understand why the other bu is marked as fix
released.

2013-09-18 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1222725] Re: rename gnome-disk-utility to gnome-disks

2013-09-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
The upstream repository and tarballs are still named gnome-disk-utility.
That will need to be changed before Debian or Ubuntu will want to change
the packaging:

[Bug 835665] Re: Palimpsest should have a way to print out SMART data as plain text.

2013-09-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1227440] [NEW] Nautilus' Format option doesn't actually work

2013-09-18 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

As reported by GNOME, the new Format option when right-clicking on a USB
stick doesn't actually format the device.

This feature was added to nautilus with

https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=a73c8c773

If we can't fix this before Saucy freezes, it would be better to not
show the Format option in Nautilus.
