[Bug 1201180] Re: Pressing power button turns off the PC ignoring the presence of another session manager

2013-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
It seems gnome-session got fixed for this now. When I press the power
button, I now get the usual dialog that asks you what to do
(shutdown/reboot/etc.)

I'll add a task for kde-workspace as apparently it's still not working
under KDE. I. e. the KDE session needs to inhibit logind's power button
handling if it wants to handle the power button itself, similar to what
gnome-session is doing in gsm_systemd_add_inhibitor()
systemd.c#n750)

** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
   Status: Triaged => Fix Released

** Also affects: kde-workspace (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided

On the affected install yes, python-nautilus is installed but it doesn't
seem to be p-n per-se.

If I only use one of the example extensions that's in the n-p package
then no poor behavior (open-terminal.py
However if I use the "geditas" extension (geditas.py), from the nautilus
actions extra ppa then the poor behavior occurs.
So it seems more an issue with that extension then n-p itself
(- whether other extensions from that ppa cause issue haven't tried but
most users aren't installing n-p unless they're using an extension(s) &
that ppa is the most common source of such.

[Bug 1237179] [NEW] file-roller can't extract a compressed file as normal user

2013-10-08 Thread Miguelángel León
Public bug reported:

As normal (administrator) user file-roller cannot extract files, it
complains with a message box saying (translated from spanish) Owner
can't be stablished: Operation not allowed.

I can extract as superuser, nevertheless, changing the owner using
nautilus as superuser crashes nautilus. Once, nautilus said the user
logged in didn't exist, I couldn't reproduce this last message anymore.
using cat /etc/passwd shows the user with a correct ID.

I cannot be sure if the problem is about file-roller or is a user
administration problem

[Bug 1237169] [NEW] CD Drive widget does not show selected drive

2013-10-08 Thread Phillip Susi
Public bug reported:

I could have sworn I filed this a few years ago but can't find it now.
The cd drive selection widget in the sound-juicer preferences shows a
blank instead of the default drive. Upstream has a recent commit to fix
this, which I have cherry picked and hope to get into saucy before final
freeze the day after tomorrow, and then back port to 12.04.

[Bug 1237121] [NEW] Keyboard: cannot bind "Alt L" to "Key to show the HUD" => Disabled

2013-10-08 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

When clicking on "Key to show the HUD" in the Keyboard's Shortcuts settings, I
cannot set the default itself:
 1. Pressing the left Alt key results in the shortcut to get disabled (it says
"Disabled" then)
 2. There's no possibility to cancel the editing
 3. There's no possibility to reset the value to its defaul

WORKAROUND: use ccsm and (re-)configure the shortcut in the Ubuntu Unity
Plugin.

[Bug 1174663] Re: gvfsd-http eats 100% CPU

2013-10-08 Thread Mehdi
I use socks proxy now and then, and I have encounter the exact problem
several times. I can confirm the bug, yet I'm not sure if it's occurring
only when using socks proxy.

I'm getting 100% cpu usage from the following process:

/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-http --spawner :1.7 /org/gtk/gvfs/exec_spaw/2

the trace for the process outputs the following in an "endless loop":

[pid 7705] poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}], 1, 0) = 0 (Timeout)
[pid 7705] recvfrom(9, "", 4, 0, NULL, NULL) = 0

2013-10-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks! I'm setting it as confirmed, I've seen those issues as well. it
seems to be due to buggy clients' registration, need some investigation
to figure which one and how to be more robust to those. I'm busy on
other work at the moment but I'm going to try to come back to that one a
bit later (it should have enough details for others to pick it up as
well)

I'm confused. this is a regression and there is no official workaround
or fix. and you flag this bug as low priority. how can a regression be a
low priority?

[Bug 1236787] Re: merci permettre utillisation de la langue francaise

2013-10-08 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

@Markus: Ubuntu doesn't provide a recommended way to add back that
option without tweaking at the moment, tweaking the configuration works
but it's not a supported workflow and you can't blame the distribution
if you get it wrong...

[Bug 1205893] Re: Zoom in/out in universal access not working

2013-10-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-control-center -
1:3.6.3-0ubuntu43

---
gnome-control-center (1:3.6.3-0ubuntu43) saucy; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/unity_no_zoom_controls.patch: hide the zoom controls under
Unity. The upstream code only shows them when gnome-shell is running,
but unity takes the dbus namespace for other compat reasons which leads
to have the option even if there is no zoom backend (lp: #1205893)

[Bug 991481] Re: Constant dns traffic for daisy.ubuntu.com

2013-10-08 Thread Evan Dandrea
** Description changed:

Watching GNetworkMonitor's network-changed signal causes constant DNS
  traffic.

Andy Whitcroft points out that the NETLINK_ROUTE socket set up by
- GNetworkMonitor will fire events every time there an ARP entry appears
- or disappears.
+ GNetworkMonitor will fire events every time an ARP entry appears or
+ disappears.

Unfortunately, we currently need an additional layer of connectivity
checking because checking NetworkManager's state for CONNECTED_GLOBAL is
not enough to know whether we're really online. Ubuntu does not yet use
  the NetworkManager connectivity check [1].

The likely solution to this bug is a replacement for GNetworkMonitor in
  whoopsie.

  1: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~daisy-
  pluckers/whoopsie/trunk/view/head:/src/connectivity.c#L326

  Original report follows:

Every few seconds, I see a dns query for daisy.ubuntu.com. After
removing whoopsie, the traffic goes away.
