[Bug 1245300] Re: alacarte does not delete deleted application menu entries

2013-11-13 Thread André
I have just encountered this too. Before discovering
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/1241841 I was
having trouble getting a icon to appear for the application. I would
delete and recreate the entry (accumulating hidden duplicates) with no
success. I would then attempt to create my own entry from scratch, which
would never show up. It turns out that the hidden entries were
preventing the manually created one from being displayed.

[Bug 1131220] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream()

2013-11-13 Thread DancemasterGlenn
Having done some research on applying patches, and not being exactly
sure where to get the source to apply this patch to (and not being
totally sure what program I'd be getting the source for, precisely), I
think that it would be really super if one of you are able to provide me
with a 13.04 ppa for testing. I hope that that's still an option, and I
hope you won't be too bummed that I wasn't able to make proper use of
the patch myself. :( I would really like to test this fix, so if anyone
gets a chance I would appreciate further assistance. Thanks again for
commenting in the first place, I appreciate it.

[Bug 1238410] Re: Inconsistent cursor visibility with cursor plugin enabled

I do now see on 14.04 but much rarer occurrence then in 13.10. So I'll just

Can't say I've seen any downside to having the plugin disabled, other than the
'no visible cursor till mouse moved feature' which is of no importance here.

[Bug 1232299] Re: gnome-session-flashback with Compiz launches Unity if you create a user and log in for the first time directly with gnome-flashback

2013-11-13 Thread Ryan Tandy
Got it. The bug is in Compiz.

When Compiz starts up it looks for upgrade scripts in
/usr/share/compizconfig/upgrades and runs each of them. For each
upgrade, ccsProcessUpgrade
(compizconfig/libcompizconfig/src/main.c:4737) sets the Compiz profile
to the one mentioned in the filename ("unity" for all the scripts
shipped in compiz-gnome); I guess that is so that the affected plugins
are made active. But, it doesn't set the profile back afterwards!

So, the workaround for a new user account is:

mkdir -p ~/.config/compiz-1/compizconfig
for file in /usr/share/compizconfig/upgrades/*.upgrade; do basename $f; done >
~/.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/done_upgrades

Then Compiz won't run the upgrade scripts (since we told it they've
already been done), and we avoid setting the profile to unity.

Compiz devs, would you please consider trying to fix this bug? If I have
time I'll try to submit a patch, but it won't be soon...

[Bug 1251049] [NEW] alt+tab working only partially

2013-11-13 Thread fraktalek
Public bug reported:

Alt+Tab stopped working in Gnome Shell after I upgraded to 13.10 today.

When I press Alt+Tab the application switcher comes up but I can't cycle
through it after pressing Tab again. So this way I can switch only
between two applications there and back.

The application switcher works otherwise normally - I can use the mouse
pointer to choose a different application (while holding Alt). Also,
the Tab key works just fine on its own.

Interestingly, now when I switched to the Terminal and executed xev,
cycling through Alt+Tab worked - but just once, now it doesn't work
again.

[Bug 1238346] Re: on bootup wrong keyboard layout is recognized

2013-11-13 Thread YoBoY
After a second fresh install I still had this bug. But I also noticed a crash
report for ibus on my first login. So what I have tried who seems to have fixed
this :
 - delete the ~/.config/ibus folder
 - launch from the command line ibus-setup and check the "Use system keyboard
layout" on the "advanced" tab.

I don't know which one of these two actions resolved the bug, but so
far, my keyboard layout is the right one. If someone else can try and
confirm that.

[Bug 1251022] [NEW] Menu editor alacarte is completely non-functional in Ubuntu 12.04 (applied patch did not take)

2013-11-13 Thread Bryce Nesbitt
Public bug reported:

While bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/1079953 is
closed,
the issue persists. With alacarte 0.13.2-2ubuntu4 on Ubuntu 12.04, nothing
works.
Pressing *New Item* or *Properties* results in a crash. Checkbox actions don't
take.
And inexplicably "[x] report an error" does nothing.

But here's a console exception:

[Bug 1250979] [NEW] Nautilus forgets sidebar settings

2013-11-13 Thread Graeme
Public bug reported:

I've noticed this since maybe precise, but it's still present, so
reporting it. Basically, nautilus always forgets if you've opened the
sidebar with f9, and next time you open a nautilus window it's closed
again. I use the sidebar tons, so while this is a minor cosmetic
problem, it's also really annoying. ;)

[Bug 1250986] [NEW] nautilus extensions can't create menu separator

2013-11-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Currently nautilus extensions can't create menu separator.

Rabbitvcs (and some other packages) are implementing ugly fake menu
separators because of the missing feature.

I have created patch for this, and I hope it can be applied to ubuntu
nautilus package.

Nautilus bug report with the patch is at:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=712203

The issue is not a desktop/unity/gnome-settings-daemon/... one,

Why are you using that command?

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-11-13 Thread Vladyslav Stelmakhovskyi
Hi William

hmm. it seems its the one, which is crashed at startup
Tried to run manually and got:

vladest@vladest-Aspire-V3-771:~/Pictures$ gnome-settings-daemon

(gnome-settings-daemon:5755): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gnome-settings-daemon'
received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 190 error_code 8 request_code 140 minor_code 30)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

can it be caused some wrong settings?
if yes, which setting file to kill?

thanks

[Bug 1250657] [NEW] indicator-appmenu-applet crashes gnome-panel in gnome-flashback session

2013-11-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Adding indicator-applet-appmenu on gnome-panel in gnome-sessaion-
flashback under saucy results in crashing all other applets (including
indicator-applet) present on that panel. And the panel becomes unusable.

All other applets works fine without indicator-applet-appmenu.

`gnome-panel --replace` in terminal gives following error:

"
(gnome-panel:8145): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accelerator_parse_with_keycode:
assertion 'accelerator != NULL' failed

** (gnome-panel:8145): WARNING **: Unable to parse mouse modifier
'(null)'

Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 14: reading
configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.

assertion 'accelerator != NULL' failed

** (gnome-panel:8145): WARNING **: Unable to parse mouse modifier

"

Removing indicator-applet-appmenu, after crash, restores panel behavior
to normal.

[Bug 1250868] Re: gnome-control-center is not of version 3.8

2013-11-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Under Unity (which is the default desktop for Ubuntu) you can enter
modifier only keys in the text input entry and gnome-shell users can use
gnome-tweak-tool, there is a solution for everyone there ;-)

[Bug 1244158] Re: GNOME: Modifiers Only keyboard layout switch have no effect

2013-11-13 Thread John
> I have the same problem, reported this on the GNOME bug tracker but was told
> that this is Ubuntu's fault:

Same here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=712189

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install multiple keyboard layouts
2. Use gnome-tweak-tool to set layout shortcut to Alt-Shift
3. Use layout applet to set layout1 active
3. Press Alt-Shift

Expected behaviour:

- Indicator was layout1, now layout2
- Active layout was layout1, now layout2

Actual behaviour:

- Indicator was layout1, now layout2
- Active layout was layout1, still layout1

2013-11-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher

of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
