[Bug 1255875] [NEW] After dist-upgrade to 13.10, gnome-session starts with just a black screen w/ mouse cursor

2013-11-28 Thread Martin Valgur
Public bug reported:

Normally, I would expect to be launched into the (classic) gnome
desktop. I can temporarily work around the issue by using xfce4-session
instead.

Starting gnome-session --session=gnome-classic from terminal (under xfce4) I
get the following message:
$ gnome-session --session=gnome-classic
gnome-session-is-accelerated: No composite extension.
gnome-session-check-accelerated: Helper exited with code 256
gnome-session-is-accelerated: No composite extension.

Perhaps relatedly, since upgrade to 13.10 some gnome apps have started having
errors, too.

Some system information:

uname: Linux to127 3.11.0-13-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 23 07:38:26 UTC

The system is running under VMWare and is connected to via NX/SSH (which should
not have any effect, I think).
All software packages should be at their latest versions. gnome session version
is 3.9.90-0ubuntu3.

The information I have provided is probably very vague. Is there
anything else I could do to clarify things?

[Bug 1245315] Re: alacarte fails to write a proper Categories=; line to .desktop files

2013-11-28 Thread Donjan Rodic
Same with Ubuntu 13.10 64bit upgraded from 13.04.
Editing the menus in gnome-panel or alternative application launchers/applets
doesn't work as well as it should. There is no easy and obvious way (e.g. just
dragdrop) to move the unnecessarily spammy new categories (Sundry, System
Settings separate from System Tools, lots of items in Other) into one
consolidated menu directory. But I guess that's another bug report.

[Bug 1232454] Re: Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity. dialog when resuming from suspend

2013-11-28 Thread Roger James
I think there are a number of bugs here.

The version I see is.

With Turn screen off when inactive set to 30 minutes and Suspend when
inactive for set to 1 hour. If I come back after an hour the screen has
turned off, but the computer has not suspended. When I wake up the
screen the dekstop has locked as expected, when I type in my password
the dekstop unlocks and shows the Computer will suspend very soon
because of inactivity. dialog.

This bug should probably be more like Computer will suspend very soon
because of inactivity. dialog prevents system from suspending.

I will call the the Type A version of this bug. I think it the same as
Bug #1243174 which is marked as a duplicate of this.

Does any one who sees them want to define types B,C, and D!

[Bug 1256093] [NEW] nautilus hangs when trashing second file named in bad encoding

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

first created file with name in bad encoding as described here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unzip/+bug/580961

Ziped file named in cp1250 encoding on windows ěščřžýáíé.txt (I'm adding this
file as attachment to simplify matter.)
then I unzip this file on Ubuntu 12.04

unzip ěščřžýáíé.zip
Archive: ěščřžýáíé.zip
 extracting: ?.txt

Extracted files goes to Trash via Nautilus, then again do unzip and next
moving of this file to trash makes hangs. I see neverending progress
bar. Top shows Nautilis is working on 99% CPU.

Now: pkill Nautilus, empty Trash and now moving unzipped file to trash
is ok.

[Bug 1256093] Re: nautilus hangs when trashing second file named in bad encoding

2013-11-28 Thread Quinn Balazs
Shouldn't this affect nautilus instead of unzip? The mishandling of the
zip file is covered in bug #580961, this seems to be an issue with
nautilus handling a badly encoded file. Does this issue still occur when
extracting the file straight into the trash?

** Package changed: unzip (Ubuntu) = nautilus (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Incomplete

[Bug 606292] Re: WebDAV backend leaks a lot of memory

2013-11-28 Thread Michael Terry
vkapas, I agree that this bug is still present in 10.04. But 10.04
Desktop is no longer supported. Please upgrade to 12.04, which
shouldn't have this bug.
