[Bug 1121624] Re: evolution-alarm-notify crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

2013-12-10 Thread Ville Ranki
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1050743 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1050743

I'm getting an almost similar crash which happens daily when i start the
computer. The function is g_object_new_valist().

I usually send the error report, but i have not found any traces of it on
launchpad. According to stack trace, the crash happens in
alarm_queue_init() -> config_data_get_timezone() -> g_settings_new() ->
g_object_new().

This is on ubuntu 13.10 with all updates installed. Let me know if need
to provide any more information.

I uploaded the "flush the right bus" fix into trusty, as I really want

still does not seem to be sufficient.

[Bug 1131919] [NEW] Changing gtk-key-theme-name to Emacs has no effect

2013-12-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I've tried changing org.gnome.desktop.interface.gtk-key-theme to "Emacs"
in dconf-editor, and I also have an application which tries to change
the setting in its own widgets using GtkSettings. Neither have any
effect, the control keys still behave the same as with Default.

This seems to be specific to Ubuntu, I don't have the same problem in
Debian unstable. FWIW I'm using the Radiance theme, but the key theme
should be independent anyway.

2013-12-10 Thread Martin Pitt
** Changed in: systemd-shim (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Status: Fix Released => Incomplete

** Description changed:

As per request from bug #1184262, this is a new report, along with dbus
  (to be attached)

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10
  Package: systemd-services 204-0ubuntu19
  Uname: Linux 3.12.0-custom x86_64
  ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1
  Architecture: amd64
  Date: Sun Nov 17 20:24:41 2013
  MarkForUpload: True
  SourcePackage: systemd
UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-17 (31 days ago)

  SRU INFORMATION:
- FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab
+ FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty
already)

Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known regressions.

TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected to
fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network now
does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked this
  would count as failure/regression.

[Bug 861493] Re: evince doesn't print duplex on duplex-able printers

2013-12-10 Thread Julian Foad
I confirm this bug with evince 3.4.0 on Ubuntu 12.04.3.

On my system, if one of the following paper sizes was selected PRIOR TO
opening the Print dialogue, then the "Two-sided:" drop-down list control
is populated with only a "One Sided" option:

  Letter Small Margins 8.5x11in
  A4 Small Margins 210x297mm

If one of the following paper sizes was selected PRIOR TO opening the
Print dialogue then it is populated with three options: "One Sided",
"Long Edge (Standard)", "Short Edge (Flip)".

  US Letter
  A4
  Letter Borderless 8.5x11in
  A4 Borderless 210x297mm

Changing the paper size while the Print dialogue is open does NOT CHANGE
the set of options in the "Two-sided" control. If an option is included
and selected then it works: two-sided printing is performed on the
selected paper size. Therefore I conclude that this appears to be (at
least partly) a bug in the operation of the Print dialog rather than a
bug in the printing itself.

One work-around is to select a paper size such as A4, cause that setting
to be "saved" (e.g. click on "Print Preview" and close the preview) and
then re-open the Print dialogue. The "Two-sided:" control will then
contain three options. Select the desired paper size and two-sided
option and select Print. In my tests, by this means two-sided printing
then proceeds successfully on any of the paper sizes I have tried.

Accepted gtk+3.0 into saucy-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/3.8.6-0ubuntu3.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See

enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,

[Bug 1259643] [NEW] Strange keyboard layout switcher behaviour after reboot

2013-12-10 Thread n0dwis
Public bug reported:

I use Alt+Shifl L keys combination to switch keyboard layout. But after reebot
it be changed to shift + alt. Literally. I should to press Left Shift then Alt
to switch language. Reverse combination (Alt + Shift) don't work. In Text Entry
Settings everything looks fine - combination remain.
If I change combination to another, even Alt+Shift to Shift+Alt, switcher work
correctly independend of which of keys be pressed first. But only to a next
reebot.

This behaviour started about a week ago.

I have now tested your test-tmpl.ps file and dine some fixes on the

it. The fix will get into Ubuntu with the release of cxups-filters

[Bug 1214352]

2013-12-10 Thread Iveand
Update: attempting to open a .odt on a remote linux share using sftp (so
not using samba) will result in the SAME ERROR. The .desktop sed hack
does NOT solve the problem in this regard. So, from what I know there
is no workaround for Ubuntu 12.04.3 to open .odf files on sftp shares.

confirming the problem still exists in Ubuntu 12.04.3, with LO 4.1.3 PPA

sudo sed -i 's/X-GIO-NoFuse=true/#X-GIO-NoFuse=true/'
/usr/share/applications/libreoffice-* as

as alluded to above does seem to help.

[Bug 1259717] Re: Menu editor does not add items or menus

2013-12-10 Thread Len Ovens
I can see that this does nothing as you say. I am not sure what it
should do though. I would think it should create a *.menu file somewhere
like in .config/menus. or perhaps whereever the click on the folder icon
puts it. This does not seem to happen. Have you tried this on xubuntu
(stock xfce)? Once the menu file is created, I would not expect it to
replace the main menu but to be usable as a second menu on the same
panel or bottom panel.

[Bug 1257505] Re: Create Unity Control Center so can remain on old GNOME Control Center version

2013-12-10 Thread Robert Ancell
** Description changed:

Ubuntu/Unity uses GNOME Control Center as the application to configure
the Unity session. We've made a lot of changes appropriate for Ubuntu
and Unity (61 patches) which makes it hard to maintain and creates a
conflict for Ubuntu GNOME to use the control center. Unity 7 will be
replaced by Unity 8 in the future which has a new settings interface.

So we can continue to remain on the current version of GNOME Control
Center but allow Ubuntu GNOME to continue to update we will create a new
project lp:unity-control-center which is a copy of GNOME Control Center
3.6 but with appropriate renaming so both can be installed.

A number of packages that refer to gnome-control-center need to be
updated to refer to unity-control-center (see bug tasks).

A PPA for testing is https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/+archive
- /unity-control-center/+packages.
