[Bug 792227] Re: opening more than one file in gedit causes cursor to spin for a period of time

2013-12-18 Thread Bib
I get this issue too, as I described here :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/392071/hourglass-pointer-launching-a-nemo-quicklist-sub-item-from-unitylauncher
 :
"Running raring 13.04 I meet a strange behaviour (non-blocking). When I launch
a home subfolder (e.g. Music) from the nemo launcher, the windows opens fine
but I always get the hourglass pointer for 15s, after which the pointer becomes
normal, whether I keep the window opened or I close it before the 15s laptime.
I don't use cinnamon (not installed), just nemo v1.7.2 from synaptic/software
center.
When I run nemo Music from a terminal or from the Alt+F2 prompt, I don't get
this hourglass. I don't get it neither when I just left-click the nemo parent
icon. I don't get this behaviour neither with LibreOffice icon sub-items.
I tried to specify the full path in ~/.local/share/applications/nemo.desktop
(Exec=nemo /home/me/Music) with no change in behaviour."
Since this post in askubuntu, I also tried to add StartupNotify=false in each
[Desktop Action ActionN] sub-section but this changes nothing.

[Bug 768264] Re: Evince: Copying a paragraph out of a pdf-file is making mistakes

2013-12-18 Thread madbiologist
On Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail", the second quotation mark is copied
correctly, but the first is not selectable at all and hence can't be
copied, possibly due to what I presume is a German convention of
diplaying the first quotation mark at the bottom of the line instead of
at the top like the second one.

Changing the extension solved the problem.

[Bug 1131220] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream()

2013-12-18 Thread David Henningsson
I had a quick look at the pactl list output and noticed the following
things:

1) You seem to be running the cinnamon desktop. This usually shouldn't
matter; but in this case actually it can. So I'm wondering if this is
also reproducible from a clean Live-CD of, well, saucy/trusty at this
point, and Ubuntu with unity desktop?

2) Only the Maudio card is present; is your onboard card disabled? If
so, is it related to you actually plugging it in while the sound
settings dialog is open?

Can easily be seen in gtk3 file managers such as nautilus & nemo. Also affects
games such as Aisleroit.
While not the worst thing in nautilus with the new 'auto open on hover' feature
it stil will bother some users.

Not really clear if this is a bug or intended..

[Bug 65489] Re: gnome-terminal tends to lock up

2013-12-18 Thread Seth
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 66104 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/66104

@RobT I've been seeing this behaviour too recently with big (maximized)
buffers with a lot of scrolling and switching terminals/windows.

Nvidia proprietary drivers, no SCIM (just US International keyboard with
English).

Have you ever found a cause for your intermittent freezes?

[Bug 637695] Re: Acer Aspire 5920 series hotkeys problems

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
RussianNeuroMancer, the Bug Description is written in a "catch all
format" that would be frowned upon up and downstream. Instead, let us
focus on one issue per bug report, so that each issue may be focused on
individually, and routed to the correct group for fixing.

Hence, this bug report will only focus on issue #4. Regarding all the
others, please continue to pursue fixes in the bugs already generated,
and feel free to create a new report, one per issue, for those not
having a report.

Regarding Acer MediaTouch, I would start with the linux (Ubuntu) and we
can take it from there.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1262380] [NEW] gtk+3.0 FTBFS on ppc64el

2013-12-18 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

gtk+3.0 fails to build on ppc64el with a test suite failure in the

gdb shows some kind of corrupted backtrace (the calling function is

(gdb)

Stepping through with gdb also shows signal_normal() being entered twice
in response to the first gtk_window_set_title() call, even though it
should only be called once.

This problem was not evident in the initial bootstrap of gtk+3.0, but
now is reproducible on both the launchpad builders and the porter
system. It could be due to a kernel upgrade after the initial
bootstrap, we're not sure.

[Bug 637695] Re: Acer Aspire 5920 series hotkeys problems

2013-12-18 Thread RussianNeuroMancer
> We were wondering if this is still an issue?
There is probably no more issues on kernel side, all buttons is recognized now
(including item 10) but Item 7 (Euro and Dollar) is waiting for Mir and Wayland
to be properly assigned.

Because of issue with Item 4 I reopen udev task (and reassign it to
systemd, since as I understand udev tasks now belongs to systemd).

Item 4: Fn+F2 recognition is broken now (recognized as NoSymbol). Info
about Fn+F2 in commentary #10 and scancode in #14.

Item 9 & 10: all buttons on Acer MediaTouch is now recognized, but
MediaTouch is still detected as touchpad (second SynPS/2 Synaptics
TouchPad device in xinput list) so no info from keymap utility. Is there
anything that can be done about Acer MediaTouch buttons to make it works
out of the box? To what package issue with MediaTouch belongs to?

** Package changed: udev (Ubuntu) => systemd (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)
   Status: Fix Released => New

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Fix Released

[Bug 1254106] Re: "browse files" on device does nothing

2013-12-18 Thread matteo sisti sette
If I open BlueTooth Settings, then select the device from the list on
the left, then click on the "Browse Files" button, then IT WORKS.

It's definitely the notification-area widget that it's broken.

I'm going to change this to "confirmed" because if we wait for someone
else to test it (let alone confirm it) we're going to wait forever.

There's enough information in this report to start fixing it.

[Bug 1254106] Re: "browse files" on device does nothing

2013-12-18 Thread matteo sisti sette
Please reconsider the reassignment to Nautilus.

I don't think the bluetooth widget in the notification area has nothing
to do with Nautilus. And when I click on the device listed there, the
computer does NOT EVEN TRY TO CONNECT to the phone; I guess it would
open Nautilus after establishing a connection to the device, so if it
doesn't even try I don't think Nautilus has anything to do here.

[Bug 461427] Re: Wired connection icon is useless if you always use wired connection

2013-12-18 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Package changed: network-manager (Ubuntu) => gnome-control-center
(Ubuntu)

** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
   Status: Opinion => Confirmed

** Description changed:

Why should I always have the wired connection icon visible? Does it
notify me I am connected by wire? Well, I'm always connected with wire,
so I know it. Actually, there is no other way to connect my computer, so
  this "notification" doesn't notify me.

I understand that someone will see WiFi signal strength or BT modem
connected or something more exotic instead of this unplugged jack. But
for wired people to be connected is like a default state. They don't
need to be notified about that. No new information — no notification
icon. Having stable wired connection also means generally you need
nothing to change. So user doesn't need a "shortcut" icon on the taskbar
to change his connection settings every 10 minutes. And if he does, he
could put some applet manually. No I 'm unable even to get rid of this
icon manually. I have to patiate it, which frustrates me a lot.
+
+ : "At the bottom left of
+ the panel should be a 'Show network status in the menu bar' checkbox."

[Bug 1253962] Re: hangs on startup

2013-12-18 Thread Jeroen Meijer
Same here, but it also happen on the play button in Rhythmbox itself. It
is an almost-certainty after the first login or boot (for me this is
virtually the same thing). Time counter and slider stay on 0:00, one
core goes to 100%, UI freezes. Closing brings up the dialog if I want to
kill it. Doing so and restarting Rhythmbox most of the times fixes the
problem, but not always.

Most definately started after moving from 13:04 to 13:10.

Hope this helps.

Jeroen
