[Bug 1264804] Re: Cannot blank DVD-RW
Hi, the drive tells libburn that the medium is not a DVD-RW but a DVD+R. xorriso forwards this info: Media current: DVD+R Media status : is written , is closed The perception of media type stems from 00 1b in the reply to the GET CONFIGURATION command GET CONFIGURATION 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 64 00 From drive: 356b 00 00 01 60 00 00 00 1b [...] The xorriso command -blank as_needed applies only to erasable media and to overwritable media. DVD+R is not among them. Thus you get: xorriso : FAILURE : Media is not of erasable type HP DVD+R RW Well, there are DVD+RW, DVD-RW, and DVD+R. If you see printed on the disc a large RW in a square label, and underneath smaller DVD+R, then it is indeed a DVD+R and not erasable. The misleading RW is the label of the DVD+RW Alliance which invented both DVD+R and DVD+RW media. [Bug 1264881] [NEW] DVD directory fails to update with new disc
Public bug reported: I encountered this while using dvd::rip, but it occurs outside of the program just looking in Nautilus. After ejecting a disc and inserting a new one, Nautilus still only displays the folder name from the previous disc in /media/user/DISC_NAME. It doesn't display the contents of the current disc. The new disc's name is properly displayed in the Devices section on the left sidebar but it doesn't display the active contents. In the case of a DVD, the new disc shows ony 2 blank files, VIDEO_TS.BUP and VIDEO_TS.IFO, with no AUDIO_TS or VIDEO_TS folder. Looking at the /media/user folder, it displays OLD_DISC_NAME in the main pane, which when clicked, highlights the NEW_DISC_NAME shown in the left sidebar but not the contents in the main pane (the 2 blank files mentioned above). The effect is that I can't play the new DVD since the contents aren't recognized (I've repeated this with several discs and gotten the same result, so I doubt it's a defective DVD).
