[Bug 1264818] [NEW] Reload file button doesn't show when File explorer is visible

2013-12-29 Thread Stéphane V
Public bug reported:

When the File Explorer pane in visible on the left (F9), the button
reload the file is displayed outside of the visible area.

This seems to be a display bug. The position of the button seems to be
computed without taking into account the width of the File explorer
pane, and is displayed outside of the window.

Steps to reproduce :
 - open a text file
 - display the file explorer (F9)
 - modify the text file from another source (command line touch myfile.txt)
 - come back in gedit to see the this file was modified message at the top of
the window
 - It is impossible to reload the file because the button reload is not
accessible

Workaround :
 - close the file explorer to see the button (F9)

[Bug 1264804] Re: Cannot blank DVD-RW

2013-12-29 Thread Thomas Schmitt
Hi,

the drive tells libburn that the medium is not a DVD-RW
but a DVD+R. xorriso forwards this info:

 Media current: DVD+R
Media status : is written , is closed

The perception of media type stems from 00 1b in the reply
to the GET CONFIGURATION command

 GET CONFIGURATION
 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 64 00
 From drive: 356b
 00 00 01 60 00 00 00 1b [...]

The xorriso command -blank as_needed applies only to
erasable media and to overwritable media.
DVD+R is not among them.
Thus you get:

xorriso : FAILURE : Media is not of erasable type

 HP DVD+R RW

Well, there are DVD+RW, DVD-RW, and DVD+R.

If you see printed on the disc a large RW in a square label,
and underneath smaller DVD+R, then it is indeed a DVD+R
and not erasable.
The misleading RW is the label of the DVD+RW Alliance
which invented both DVD+R and DVD+RW media.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas

[Bug 1264881] [NEW] DVD directory fails to update with new disc

2013-12-29 Thread dennis1200
Public bug reported:

I encountered this while using dvd::rip, but it occurs outside of the
program just looking in Nautilus. After ejecting a disc and inserting a
new one, Nautilus still only displays the folder name from the previous
disc in /media/user/DISC_NAME. It doesn't display the contents of the
current disc. The new disc's name is properly displayed in the Devices
section on the left sidebar but it doesn't display the active contents.
In the case of a DVD, the new disc shows ony 2 blank files, VIDEO_TS.BUP
and VIDEO_TS.IFO, with no AUDIO_TS or VIDEO_TS folder.

Looking at the /media/user folder, it displays OLD_DISC_NAME in the main
pane, which when clicked, highlights the NEW_DISC_NAME shown in the left
sidebar but not the contents in the main pane (the 2 blank files
mentioned above).

The effect is that I can't play the new DVD since the contents aren't
recognized (I've repeated this with several discs and gotten the same
result, so I doubt it's a defective DVD).

I'm running 13.10 64-bit, with nautilus 1:3.8.2-0ubuntu2.1 and dvd::rip
0:9.8.11-0ubuntu4

2013-12-29 Thread Seth Arnold
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

You appear to be running a release of Ubuntu that is no longer supported.
Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases for information on our
currently supported releases; consider using one of the LTS releases,
as they will be supported for the longest amount of time.

Some additional information on upgrading can be found in our community
