[Bug 1026414] Re: Rhythmbox consistently fails on new installs trying to scan large home directory

2014-01-01 Thread Paul Whipp
I have a similar problem with a similar sized home folder in Ubuntu
13.10 x64.

I can't find any reference to rhythmbox if I launch dconf-editor or I
would try the workaround. rhythmbox is unusable on my system. I've tried
re-installing it to no avail.

[Bug 1265242] Re: Rythmbox volume control problem

2014-01-01 Thread exploder91
The bug with the volume control dissapears once music is stored for it
to find in the music folder. I re-booted the computer, re-launched
Rhythmbox and the volume was just as I left it. I have no idea why the
program would not remember the volume setting before the music folder
was populated but it does retain the setting once the media is there.

In your particular case EOG is probably doing the right thing:

You likely have a bad display profile setup.

There is a related bug (which you are likely NOT experiencing though):

[Bug 1264472] Re: 05ac:12a9 [Medion E7218] Can't pair iPad / iOS7 with Ubuntu via USB

2014-01-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Stephen Kun, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. Could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
please just make a comment to this.

If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel
available (not the daily folder) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc6

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 1264389] [NEW] Screen dims unexpectedly then stays dim until adjusted

2014-01-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Expected behaviour:
1) When AC power connected, screen does not dim.
2) When System Settings-Brightness and Lock-Dim screen to save power is
unchecked, screen does not dim
3) When (1) and (2) are false, screen dims after a period of inactivity
4) When keyboard or mouse activity, screen will undim.

Behaviour after upgrade to 13.10
1) Screen dims randomly when AC power is connected, seemly after inactivity
2) Screen dims instantly if AC power is disconnected then reconnected
3) Screen does not undim on mouse movement or keypresses
4) Opening or clicking on the brightness and lock menu undims the screen.
5) Dim screen to save power setting makes no difference (other than that to
adjust the setting, you cause condition 4)

[Bug 1265401] [NEW] Unpredictable behavior of Show sidebar

2014-01-01 Thread Thomas Jensen
Public bug reported:

I prefer to not have the sidebar show as default but when I do want it, I have
to press F9 twice.
Further more the show sidebar option seems to behave strangely (which is
probably due to the same bug). Sometimes it's ticked even though the sidebar
isn't shown.

[Bug 1265415] [NEW] no hint for how to disable the shortcut in Keyboard Shortcuts

2014-01-01 Thread zhiyuan.yang
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Package: Gnome Terminal 3.4.1.1
Description: When I try to disable a shortcut in Keyboard Shortcuts, I don't
know how to finish it and there is no hint about that. Only after searching the
AskUbuntu, I know I should use the backspace to delete a shortcut. From the
view of usability, I think there should be a hint about how to delete the
shortcut. Maybe we could use the text description or add a delete cross in each
column.

[Bug 1131220] Re: [soundnua]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in gvc_mixer_control_lookup_device_from_stream()

2014-01-01 Thread DancemasterGlenn
Well... bah. I guess we have a couple of options?

- you could walk me through installing debug symbols, whenever you have the
time. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy, but I'm game if you are.
- if there is some sort of changelog for gnome-control-center, we could still
look back through it to the time around when I filed my bug initially... the
sound menu definitely used to work with this card, so something roughly a year
ago must have broken compatibility for me. I just never really knew where to
look, or if it was specifically gnome-control-center I should be looking into.
- as a last-ditch option, i might be able to send you my interface... it would
suck to be without it, but if you thought having it would help diagnose the
problem and you cared enough to take a look, maybe it would be a good option?
Not sure where you live, so I don't know about shipping costs... I'm in eastern
massachusetts at the moment.

Anyway. Any of those things sound like a good plan?

[Bug 1265418] [NEW] Gtk3 bookmark can't be removed if it points to a file

2014-01-01 Thread Alistair Buxton
Public bug reported:

In the file requestor of Gtk3 you can drag files and directories to the
sidebar to create bookmarks. If the user drags a file here the bookmark
can never be deleted because the option is disabled.

To reproduce:

1. Open a Gtk3 application such as firefox, gedit etc.
2. Open the File Open requester.
3. Drag a file to the bookmarks.
4. Right click on the file bookmark.

Expected result: Should be able to click on Remove to remove the
bookmark.

Actual result: The remove option is always disabled.

Workaround: Edit ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks and delete the bookmark
line.

[Bug 1093185] Re: Nautilus browse network broken pipe on AFP after suspend

2014-01-01 Thread Abelardo
I really dont know how these types of bugs are assigned with importance
low? this is why linux cant be widely adopted because these bugs that
heavily refer to user interface are just ignored - this is frustrating.

can someone fix this bug, i would say importance medium no low.

[Bug 1244087] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 Main Menu editor Problem

2014-01-01 Thread Maura
Disclaimer: I'm a student, and not a Python programmer, and have only
been looking at Alacarte's code for an hour and a half or so. So this
might all be totally off-base.

Regarding the missing icon extensions, I think I found where it's
happening.

In ItemEditor.py (found here: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/saucy/alacarte/saucy/view/head:/Alacarte/ItemEditor.py
), line 68:

def set_icon_string(image, icon):
if GLib.path_is_absolute(icon):
image.props.file = icon
else:
image.props.icon_name = strip_extensions(icon)

I did some testing, and an icon path that got stripped on saving in Main
Menu return True when passed to GLib.path_is_absolute. So if icon is
being passed to set_icon_string properly, then we shouldn't have this
issue.

The only place where we see set_icon_string used is on line 144:

def set_icon(self, ctl, name):
try:
val = self.keyfile.get_string(DESKTOP_GROUP, name)
except GLib.GError:
pass
else:
set_icon_string(self.builder.get_object(ctl), val)

The value returned by self.keyfile.get_string(DESKTOP_GROUP, name) must
not be evaluating True in GLib.path_is_absolute. Why? No idea. And
that's about all the sleuthing I can do at 1 am. I might take another
look soon, though.
