[Bug 1174529] Re: Nautilus searches All Files when it should search Home
Yes, quick-search feature and Ctrl-F do the same. This 1) makes them reundant. 2) makes quick-search mostly unusable for the original purpose - that is, quick selection of a file without having to scroll through long lists. Suppose the user wants to find ".profile" in $HOME. Expected behaviour: type ".p" and it would be 2-nd or 3-rd file after selected. What happens instead: the first pressed key nearly freezes nautilus as it tries to dig through the whole $HOME/* tree - then it may eventually show every ".*" file down there or may freeze completely. Until then, it does both intense disk seeking and CPU consumption. The problem: even in best-case scenario, scrolling a long list is faster by many orders of magnitude in any place with big subtree, like $HOME or /usr/share. Meaning quick-search is almost useless for quick searching. Both points mean it's a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174529 Title: Nautilus searches All Files when it should search Home To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1174529/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1263088] Re: search, next doesn't change pages when needed
Hi Sebastien, This version of Evince shows this behavior with all the pdfs I've tested it with. I'll try to send one small example as soon as possible. However, I can add something that might help find the problem: I'm using Awesome as a WM and I already noticed some strange behaviors between previous Evince versions and this WM. For instance, when I open a pdf, then move to another "tag", then come back, I can't move inside the pdf pages with the arrows, I need to clic inside the Evince window, then switch to another tag and come back for the arrows to work again. It's as if Evince would not have recovered the mouse focus. However, the other keys, even Home and End do not show this problem... [Bug 1232454] Re: "Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity." dialog when resuming from suspend
IMO there are three separate bugs here. The first bug is the dialog itself. Why is there such a dialog? It's not necessary. The second bug is that the dialog sometimes prevents suspend from working. And the third bug is the dialog not closing itself when the system resumes. This is merely cosmetic but makes Ubuntu look amateurish. It'd be a workaround which might not even completely fix the problem. To fix the bug we need to find out why gnome-session isn't moving through the phases. In my investigations so far I've found out that neither upstart (turned it off; still happens), the indicators (removed as much of them as I could find, exported INDICATOR_ALLOW_NO_WATCHERS; still happens) are to blame, gnome panel or gnome-session (reverted to the 13.10 version; still happens). Something holds up gnome-session until it hits a timeout, at which point the session continues to load. Run gnome-session as gnome-session --debug and look at the log and you'll see that. [Bug 1215098] Re: iPhone with iOS 7 does not work on Ubuntu
I'm using Linux Mint and get this bug on Mint 16 (based on Ubuntu 13.10), but not on Mint 15 (based on Ubuntu 13.04). Whereas Ubuntu itself shows the bug in both versions. So that may relates to either different kernel versions (Mint does not make the same kernel updates as Ubuntu), or to different versions of libimobiledevice in Mint 15, and Ubuntu 13.04 (if they are different at all). In Mint 16 I installed the libimobiledevice version compiled by Iuri Diniz (see comment #58 in this thread). That package works great, solves the bug. Thanks, Iuri. There is only one remaining issue with the iPhone. I use to mount it not only in Linux, but also through a VirtualBox running Windows XP and iTunes inside a window in Linux Mint. It Mint 15 that is absolutely no problem thanks to USB filter configured in VirtualBox. The same configuration does not work with Mint 16, unfortunately. [Bug 1256961] Re: new glib (2.39.1) causes some indicators & nautilus to not load promptly
Yes, it makes sense. Of course this is not proper fix, but at least session starts without delay. I think there can be side-effects... 1) If nautilus is autostarted in Desktop phase (/usr/share/applications/nautilus-classic.desktop). With workaround gnome-panel will start after nautilus not before. This means that nautilus will think that all screen is available for desktop icons. When panel will start nautilus will redraw desktop icons in new place because now nautilus will know that not all screen is available. I hope you understand what i tried to tell... My pc is fast enough, i don't see this redraw (icon reposition), but it might be because nautilus-classic is not used in my session. 2) For example, if skype is autostarted in not minimised state could result in case when window is opened in top/left corner and panel is drawn over window. But I think that window manager should reposition window when panel is started. You should check if this is or is not problem. I am using metacity gtk3 version and heavily modified gnome-panel version so I think my tests may not be true for standard installation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256961 Title: new glib (2.39.1) causes some indicators & nautilus to not load promptly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/1256961/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1242984] Re: Gedit context menu font is monospace
This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-themes - 13.04+14.04.20140117.1-0ubuntu1 --- ubuntu-themes (13.04+14.04.20140117.1-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=low [ Andrés G. Aragoneses ] * Ambiance: support zebra striping for treeviews This is a rework of Andrea's patch (committed in r220: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-art-pkg/ubuntu- themes/trunk/revision/220) that doesn't introduce a visual glitch on progress bars inside treeviews (because of this visual glitch, the r220 patch was reverted in r234: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-art-pkg/ubuntu- themes/trunk/revision/234 and bug LP#945430 had to be reopened), and therefore allows us to have a theme that implements zebra striping treeviews when applications choose to use them via `self.treeview.set_rules_hint(True)` API. . (LP: #945430) [ Lars Uebernickel ] * Fix some theming issues in gedit (file browser toolbar and context menu font). (LP: #1242984) * gedit: make search occurences label readable.
