[Bug 1271163] [NEW] Hotkey is incorrectly mapped on Sony Vaio laptop

2014-01-21 Thread Emil Pavlov
Public bug reported:

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW250J laptop and the hotkey for suspending (FN +
F12) is mapped as brightness up instead. I followed the instructions on
Ubuntu wiki for troubleshooting hotkeys and found out with the help of
evtest that the hotkey is recognized as Event code 225

[Bug 1207812] Re: [Sony VGN-SR29XN_S] Iphone with iOS 7 does not work on Ubuntu

2014-01-21 Thread Francois
Using Ubuntu 13.10 x64 + IOS 7.0.4 + iPhone5s, it does not work by default.
After updating libimobiledevice package to
libimobiledevice4_1.1.6-git20140105_amd64.deb, I could plug my iPhone5s with no
issue.
It solve my trust-loop-problem.

[Bug 1168467] Re: phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error AND [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR*

2014-01-21 Thread Harald
Hi chenzero,

I am suffering from this bug, too.
I read at several places in the net that updating to a newer kernel would help,
as you mentioned.
I don't want to update the kernel, as long as there is no official update for
virtualbox.

But even in 12.04.3 there is no update for virtualbox. Also the kernel is not
an LTS kernel.
My wish would be, that there is an option in Update Manager that the kernel
is updated and that in LTS versions Virtualbox is updated in the repository if
a new kernel is available.

[Bug 1270074] [NEW] alt+shift doesn't change language at lock screen

2014-01-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After suspend, the lock screen panel appears and when trying to change language
(for me, from Hebrew to English and vice versa) using the alt+shift buttons, it
just won't change.
Happens every time.
I found a way to avoid it, and that's by either pressing with the mouse on the
he/en button or to press the switch user.. and there the alt+shift
combination does work.

[Bug 1210852] Re: gvfsd-http assert failure in g_error_free()

2014-01-21 Thread Gulliver Moy
Hi Sebastien, thanks for your explanation. Unfortunately I am still
having problems.

Here's what I took from your instructions. Steps I added myself to
overcome problems encountered are in square brackets:

- Run first line in terminal
- Run second line in terminal
- Make a new file with the contents of that link and put it in
/gvfs-1.18.2/debian/patches
- Add the name of this new file as a new line in
/gvfs-1.18.2/debian/ptches/series
- [cd to gvfs-1.18.2 because I was getting error about not finding Debian
change log.]
- [run sudo apt-get install devscripts from terminal because I was didn't
have the 'dch' command.]
- [installed GnuPG keys of Debian Developers from software centre because I
was getting errors some key errors somewhere].
- Run dch -i 'attempt to fix Launchpad bug number 1210852' in terminal
- [Edit changelog so that last edit appears signed by a previous editor (you
incidentally) instead of me because I was getting an error after running
debuild about my signature not containing a valid email address.]
- Run sudo apt-get build-dep gvfs in terminal.
- Run debuild in terminal.

Along the way I get a few warnings along the way but the way
(one common one being warning: Can't extract name and version from library
name `libgvfscommon.so' )
but the script continues until it finally ends with:

debuild: fatal error at line 1280:
running debsign failed

Also tried debuild -kA2D7D292 (obtained that key from gpg -k in the
terminal) but the problem persists.

It does leave a bunch of .deb packages on my computer but running them
just opens the software centre which displays messages such as Breaks
existing package 'gvfs-backends' dependency gvfs (= 1.18.2-0ubuntu1)
Error.

I have attempted resolving these issues myself to no avail. Any
pointers?

P.S. Am I treating Launchpad too much like a forum bothering you guys
with these questions here? Would I be better off presenting this to Ask
Ubuntu or something?

[Bug 1210852] Re: gvfsd-http assert failure in g_error_free()

2014-01-21 Thread Gulliver Moy
Ok, I've managed to get past the signing problem by setting up a gpg by
following the this guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GnuPrivacyGuardHowto
The command line option 'Using GnuPG to generate a key' was straigt forward.

The script finishes with 'Successfully signed dsc and changes files',
but I still get all the unapplying lines (don't know if that's a bad
thing) and the ones that start with W:

When I try to run the .deb files I still get the same errors in the
software centre.

[Bug 1253456] [NEW] Suspend takes 20 seconds

2014-01-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

My ThinkPad X220 with Ubuntu 13.10 (upgraded from previous versions)
takes 20 seconds or more to suspend. This wasn't the case with 13.04.

During those 20 seconds I can reactivate the screen (which turns off
properly) and then login and use the laptop (until it suspends after
some time). If I login before suspend, I don't have to login on resume.

The issue is present with all of these ways to suspend:
- closing the lid
- using the Unity menu - Suspend
- sudo gdbus call -y -d org.freedesktop.login1 -o /org/freedesktop/login1 -m

Calling sudo pm-suspend on the other hand always works immediately. I
can't use this as a workaround, because it doesn't ask for the password
on resume.

For logs, see this bugreport:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd-shim/+bug/1252121)
pm-utils version is 1.4.1-12ubuntu1

I don't know if this is designed like this on purpose or a (related?)
bug: The login screen I get after resume is quite different from the one
I get on normal startup (see other bug report for details on that).

Yes, that's the screensaver, while the initial one is lightdm.

As pm-suspend works, this is not a bug in pm-utils but somewhere in the
higher levels. Can you please enable system D-BUS debugging as on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingDBus and create/attach a system D-BUS
debug log what happens when you run sudo gdbus call -y -d
org.freedesktop.login1 -o /org/freedesktop/login1 [...] or just use the
