[Bug 1282203] Re: gnome-terminal not respecting Enable menu access keys setting, inside the Unity desktop environment.

2014-03-05 Thread Max Bowsher
I observe that the menu access keys are correctly disabled if
UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 is set in the environment, disabling the global menu
to revert to menu bar drawn within the gnome-terminal window.

Therefore, I've marked the bug as also affecting unity, as it seems
highly likely that at least some of the fix will need to be in Unity
rather than gnome-terminal.

[Bug 1288241] [NEW] gnome-screensaver is running twice and prompts twice to unlock

2014-03-05 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

$ ps auxww|grep [g]nome-screensaver
jamie 3180 0.0 0.2 441840 23612 ?Sl Mar04 0:05
/usr/bin/gnome-screensaver --no-daemon
jamie 3944 0.0 0.2 437496 23280 ?Sl Mar04 0:00
/usr/bin/gnome-screensaver --no-daemon

The symptoms appear the same as bug #556255, but this is on Trusty. This
has been happening off and on for a couple months.

Nothing in ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/, not listed in
~/.config/autostart, and nothing in ~/.config/upstart/. I do have this in
/etc/xdg/autostart/:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 518 Feb 9 2013 gnome-screensaver.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 466 Mar 30 2010 gnome-screensaver.desktop.dpkg-old

but as you can see, the timestamp on gnome-screensaver.desktop is quite
old and this only started happening in the last couple of months.
Perhaps this is related to the supposed upstart race in bug #1271591?

[Bug 1288241] Re: gnome-screensaver is running twice and prompts twice to unlock

2014-03-05 Thread dino99
Cant confirm here on Trusty i386:

oem@dev32:~$ ps auxww|grep [g]nome-screensaver
oem 2103 0.0 0.3 178320 16180 ?Sl 07:20 0:06
/usr/bin/gnome-screensaver --no-daemon
oem@dev32:~$

but what is strange for that LTS release is : we are mixing 3.6, 3.8
and 3.10 gnome packages. That gnome-screensaver is a 3.6 one for
example. Should be a good decision to only have 3.10 packages at least
(or better, as 3.12 is very close now, and even better than 3.10).

[Bug 1288334] [NEW] Devices mounting in with Ubuntu GUI with nautilus

2014-03-05 Thread Pietro Goglio
Public bug reported:

1) I have installed and disinstalled several unix application for hard drive
managing. Now I find in my nautilus two Windows partition of which one is fake
and empty. From the command line I have verified with the command df -T and
this is the results:
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Mar 4 10:24 ./
drwxr-xr-x 25 root root 4096 Feb 10 16:20 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13 Feb 14 14:35 .created_by_python-fstab
drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4096 Dec 8 2011 System/
drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16384 Mar 3 10:30 Windows/
So it seems everything correct.
How can I sort it out?
2) If I unmount my device from the GUI, the only way to remount them is through
the command line as root, how can I do through the GUI?
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Any help or contribution will be highly
appreciated. Thanks very much.

[Bug 1086806] Re: Rhythmbox encoder missing plugin

2014-03-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package rhythmbox - 3.0.1-1ubuntu12

---
rhythmbox (3.0.1-1ubuntu12) trusty; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/10_encoding_use_ubuntu_profiles.patch,
debian/patches/GstLameMP3Enc,GstVorbisEnc.prs:
- use a consistent naming for the ogg/mp3 preset profiles, rename it
Ubuntu rather than (ubuntu-default) since that's the string used
in the selector. That should fix the issue where rhythmbox reports
some missing plugins errors when copying cds (lp: #1086806)

As GUI you can use Gnome Mplayer or SMplayer.

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2014-03-05 Thread eraserix
Is it really still important to be able to upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10?
12.04 is supported for 3 more years, 12.10 for something like a month.
Once 14.04 is out, you will be able to upgrade from 12.04 directly.

[Bug 1264368] Re: GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID was not found when attempting to remove it - warning when leaving Network menu of g-c-c

2014-03-05 Thread Curtis Gedak
Messages of the form GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 6 was not found when
attempting to remove it also occur when running GParted.

For example on Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 beta1:

$ sudo apt-get install gparted
$ sudo gparted
==
libparted : 2.3
==

(gpartedbin:2677): GLib-CRITICAL ** Source ID 7 was not found when
attempting to remove it

(gpartedbin:2677): GLib-CRITICAL ** Source ID 6 was not found when
attempting to remove it

(gpartedbin:2677): GLib-CRITICAL ** Source ID 26 was not found when attempting
to remove it
...

I have only seen this occur with Ubuntu 14.04. My suspicion is that
there might be a regression in GLib, or possibly a mismatch with GTK and
GLib.

[Bug 1288411] [NEW] udev restart on upgrade broke my wireless state

2014-03-05 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

Upgrading on trusty today, my wireless connection suddenly cut out, with
network-manager reporting that wireless is disabled. Looking at the
logs, I see that udev was upgraded, and that as part of that upgrade
udev was restarted. I had to toggle the wireless switch on my laptop
off and on again to get the wireless to come back.

I don't know why udev is being restarted on upgrade in Ubuntu - this is
a delta from the Debian package, where udev is never restarted.

try to find out if either:
- the iOS 7 device was coupled with the specific hardware before ugrading

- the Ubuntu 12.04 installation is not yet updated to a newer kernel (or

shutdown while testing a dbus-monitor script to work around a problem in in
my java app :)
Seems like your logoff is pretty broken, a simple test java app with a jframe
and a shutdown hook (only) always returns non-zero on logoff (and doesn't run
the hook) and other gnome programs crash regularly there. Something is rotten

** No longer affects: hundredpapercuts

** Bug watch removed: GNOME Bug Tracker #478806
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478806

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-session

Getting stuff added to autostart is much too difficult. First of all,
guessing that it's in System-Settings-Sessions is not very obvious.
Second of all, actually adding stuff to the list is close to impossible
if you're not familiar with the layout of the Linux filesystem.

Possible solutions in order of preference:
  1) Add it to the context menu in the gnome menu. If a program is set to
autostart, make this obvious by putting a tiny emblem of some sort in its menu
entry.

  2) Add a new (sucks, I know) entry to the system-settings menu called
Autostart or something. In there, present the list of stuff that's in
the gnome menu and put a checkbox next to each entry to make it start
  automatically.

  3) Keep the tab in the gnome-session-preferences, and replace the
current Add dialog with a widget that allows you to select a program
from the gnome menu and hide the Add dialog under some sort of
  Advanced thing.
