[Bug 1157914] [NEW] time never catches up to reality after VM sleep
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I run Ubuntu in a VM, then sleep the VM for a little while, I expect time to eventually catch up to reality, because I have "Set the time ... Automatically from the Internet". However, time never does catch up. I can trigger a catch up by toggling the datetime indicator to "Manually", wait a little bit, then toggle back to "Automatically from the Internet". I may have to do this a couple of times to fix the time. This tells me that it's not a problem with the VM environment specifically, but a problem with coordinating time over the internet. [Bug 1289581] [NEW] closing document in presentation mode does not work
Public bug reported: Using the command line, I open a PDF document (a multipage document having the A4 paper size, generated with pdflatex). E.g. evince myfile.pdf I switch to the presentation mode (F5). Then I want to close the document using the usual keystroke Ctrl w. The whole display becomes white and the document is not closed. Pressing just Ctrl (while the display is blank) turns the document page back to the visible status (in the presentation mode). The only way to close the document is first to exit the presentation mode (and afterwards it can be closed normally). [Bug 1245188] Re: Unable to set the physical keyboard LED to show an alternative layout
@Sebastien, please do not make new unity-control-center less functional than last usable gnome-control-center (I mean full-functional version 3.4.2 in Ubuntu 12.04). And as I wrote before in bug 1270574 - please realize the following - "keyboard layout settings must be consistent between gnome-control-center keyboard, indicator-keyboard and gnome-tweak-tool and /etc/default/keyboard". As I remember pre-installatio of gnome-tweak-tool by default (see bug 1270572) is not possible because of dependence on gnome-shell. For now I unable to configure almost all settings on GNOME FlashBack session in Ubuntu 14.04 with unity-control-center (see for example bug 1282637). I still hope that unity-control-center will provide users with universal interface for system configuration (and session-independent). [Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.
I've found one more highly annoying issue regarding layout switch. The active application loses the focus for a short time, causing all sorts of misbehavior depending on the application. [Bug 1289495] [NEW] Applications temporarily lose focus on layout change
Public bug reported: A child of bug 1218322 (aka keyboard layout switch being a complete disaster since 13.10). When switching layout using a hotkey (e.g. Alt+Shift), the currently active application loses focus for a short period. Depending on the application, it causes all sorts of misbehavior, including: - In Gedit, press Ctrl+F to search for something, and change the layout in the middle of typing the word you're searching for. The search dialog closes and subsequent letters are inserted into the text file. - In Libreoffice, press Ctrl+F to search for something, and change the layout in the middle of typing the word you're searching for. The previously entered word gets selected, hence the next keypress erases it. - In Firefox, begin composing a Gmail message. Highlight a part of the text with the intent that the next keypress will erase it and replace with the key pressed. Switch layout before pressing the desired letter. Notice that the highlighed part is lost. - In Firefox, inside Facebook's list of active chat users, begin searching for a username. Change the layout. The entered text (partial name of a friend) is lost. - In any GTK app, try entering a Unicode character by Ctrl+Shift+U followed by the number. While entering the number, change the layout. (E.g. I switch between Hungarian and English, where Hungarian unexpectedly produces "ö" where my intent is "0"). The partial Unicode hex code is lost, I have to start again by Ctrl+Shift+U followed by the hex code. I'm sure there are plenty of similar issues. Changing the keyboard layout should be transparent to applications and should not break the flow of typing characters under any circumstance. [Bug 965953] Re: Indicator menus are too short and scroll when opened from screen bottom
@Ian Lane: The issue happens only when the panel is at the bottom, not at the top. The issue also most frequently happens with Skype, but also sometimes with other applets such as network-manager or dropbox. It appears particularly after the menuitems in the menu change, such as when a new Wireless network has been detected or the network adaper looses/gains a connection. Try pulling the network cabel from your notebook and the network-manager menu will collapse to 0px height. After that only a restart of the applet can fix the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/965953 Title: Indicator menus are too short and scroll when opened from screen bottom To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/965953/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1263228] Re: icons in indicators are small (difficult to view on FullHD display and smaller than was on 12.04)
Thank you, Dmitry! It seems that I marked more packages that it really needed, but indicator-messages has small icons too. Sebastien, I'm sorry, but small Ubuntu circle in "Application" and "Places" menu bar come from gnome-panel package ( + Right Mouse Click on a panel -> Add to panel -> "Menu Bar"/"A custom menu bar"). I grepped my system for "A custom menu bar" - and this string is located in /usr/bin/gnome-panel file (you can test it on your 14.04 system with 'cat /usr/bin/gnome-panel | grep "A custom menu bar" -a'). So gnome-panel package is affected too. Problem may come from system-wide library as glib or pixman, I do not know exactly. ** Also affects: indicator-messages (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to indicator-keyboard in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263228 Title: icons in indicators are small (difficult to view on FullHD display and smaller than was on 12.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1263228/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
