[Bug 1272870] Re: no context pane plugin for trusty rhythmbox installation

2014-03-15 Thread fossfreedom
I've added a patch file to this bug report that resolves this issue - it
is indeed a packaging issue. Hope this helps.

This applies to the debian/rhythmbox-plugins.install file in the
rhythmbox package

also added is a patch to ensure that rhythmbox-plugins is made a
dependency. It always has been in the past versions of ubuntu. It
should also be moving forward since it is the default in Gnome and thus
Ubuntu Gnome needs this fix.

[Bug 247123] Re: Rhythmbox cannot download some podcasts (port 8000)

2014-03-15 Thread Adam Smith
I've confirmed this two ways

1) I used a python program to mock a web server, I've checked it responds to
HEAD requests on non-standard ports
2) When I right click on a podcast feed and select properties, I can see that
it is not showing the port number on the URL, even though I know it does in the
podcast XML.

[Bug 247123] Re: Rhythmbox cannot download some podcasts (port 8000)

2014-03-15 Thread Adam Smith
Looking at the debug log from both rhythmbox and my test code, I can
confirm this. Note that if I change the server and podcast XML to port
80 this test works fine.

When I add the podcast URL, rbox debug output clearly references 8080

(10:06:42) [0x2655ca0] [rb_uri_could_be_podcast] rb-file-helpers.c:596:

When I select the TRACK to be played rbox debug clearly is NO LONGER

[Bug 1244087] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 Main Menu editor Problem

2014-03-15 Thread Viktor Mileikovskyi
I can not perform any editions. No moving, no folder creation. Starting
from a terminal causes only one message repeated twice:

(alacarte:13511): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure:
assertion 'gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) != NULL'
failed

And nothing else in terminal window. Tested on Ubuntu 13.10 X64 fresh
install and upgraded from 13.04.

The same problem in OpenSUSE discussed at
http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/486011-Can-t-edit-menu-or-item-properties-in-Alacarte

With best regards.
Viktor.

[Bug 1292936] [NEW] shotwell crashed with SIGABRT

2014-03-15 Thread Mark Bennison
Public bug reported:

After update to Ubuntu 14.04 latest alpha (all packages up to date as at
15/3/2014) I opened the application. SHotwell launched and then went

screen then went grey and the application stopped responding, although I
could see the imported images in the greyed out window so they imported
OK.

[Bug 1292965] [NEW] Unlocking screensaver needs two redundant steps

2014-03-15 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Public bug reported:

Up-to-date 32 bit 14.04 on Lenovo L520 notebook. After locking the
screen eg with CTRL-ALT-L I want to unlock it, so I give my password. It
works, but sometimes after some seconds of unlocked state (I already
working, ie typing etc) the screen fades out again and I have to give my
password again to unlock. It's even more interesting with my wife's
account (on the same machine/OS though): she must type her password two
times, and the second password prompt follows immediately, not the very
same case as mine.

It's another issue and I am not sure if it's related at all: after
locking the screen never turns off, which was the behaviour before
upgraded to 14.04 and I guess the normal behaviour, as it's not so
useful to waste power to show the screen for hours, it should goes of
after locking till some keypress and/or mouse movement, I think.

[Bug 1267787] Re: Menus in gnome-session-flashback are bloated in Trusty

2014-03-15 Thread Tim
Utilities and Sundry come from gnome-shell. gnome-shell uses gnome-menu,
which is shared with gnome-panel. The reason they are sparsely populated
is because many of the applications in these two categories are not
installed by default.

Reverting the gnome-applications.menu is not a solution since it will
break the current gnome-shell behaviour (of having utilities and Sundry
folders).

gnome-shell 3.12 no longer uses gnome-menus, but presumably gnome-
classic would.

[Bug 1261619] Re: Update GNOME Terminal to 3.10.2

2014-03-15 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Yes, please do upgrade! There's been many changes-fixes-improvements to
gnome-terminal. If you don't upgrade, Trusty LTS's default terminal
emulator will lag behind by 3 major Gnome releases, this just doesn't
sound right.

Vte ships the /etc/profile.d/vte.sh script, to be sourced by bash/zsh.
Once it's done, opening a new tab keeps the directory as it did
previously. I don't see why it'd take more than ten minutes to get this
working distro-wide. (For myself, I just had to add a source
/etc/profile.d/vte.sh line to my ~/.bashrc, that's all.)

Even if you choose to just do the upgrade as Debian did and take the
heat, that heat would be asking users who complain to add something
to their .bashrc, probably much simpler/better than asking them to
upgrade gnome-terminal.

It's likely that Vte will be upgraded to 0.36 (as shipped by Gnome 3.12)
for Trusty, since this version contains plenty of important bugfixes and
improvements over the currently shipped 0.34. A new feature of vte-0.36
is rewrapping lines on resize. There's a corresponding gnome-terminal
setting to disable this, this is necessary because a giant (or infinite)
scrollback makes resizing very slow, so users should be able to decide
if it's worth the price for them. If gnome-terminal is not updated, at
least this config option will have to be backported. And it's probably
already more hassle than just updating and doing that vte.sh thingy.
