[Bug 1003449] Re: [keymap] Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000

2014-03-26 Thread Martin Pitt
So that actually looks fine. The zoom in/out keys produce proper key
values, and the camera symbol produces KEY_IMAGES, i. e. open your
photos.

Unfortunately these key codes are all 255, so they can't be used in
X.org (bug 313514). This will get better with Mir, Wayland, or similar
technologies.

I retitle/reassign this bug for the scan code that is missing for the
Flip key.

** Summary changed:

- [keymap] Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000
+ Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000: Flip key produces no scan code

** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed = Incomplete

** Description changed:

+ Update from pitti: remaining issue is that the Flip key does not
+ produce any MSC_SCAN evdev event. This needs to be fixed in the kernel
+ driver for that keyboard. It looks like it should produce the
+ corresponding key code KEY_CYCLEWINDOWS.
+
Using MS Digital Media Keyboard 3000 four keys don't report any X events
(checked with xev), all the other keys seems to work. The keys are zoom-
in, zoom-out, camera and flip-key (showed in attached image). The HID
kernel level got the events correctly, checked using cat
  /sys/kernel/debug/hid/0003\:045E\:0730.0002/events . Kernel events:

Public bug reported:

Hi all!
To allow easy tab, spaces, EOL etc. search/replaces, it would be quite useful
to add the ability to wok with regular expressions (minimal set: \r \n \d \D \s
\t \w \W).
Thank you!

[Bug 1297773] [NEW] WebDAV moves files using PUT and DELETE instead of MOVE

2014-03-26 Thread Matt Ward
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.04
Release:13.04
(I'm told this also happens on 12.04)

WebDAV moves files using PUT and DELETE instead of MOVE

How to reproduce the issue:

Pre-requisites:
  - WebDAV server.
  - Packet sniffer (e.g. Wireshark) or set appropriate log levels in the WebDAV
server to observe HTTP requests being made.

Mount a webdav server:
1. open a nautilus window
2. use menu files connect to server
3. enter the server address (e.g. dav://localhost:8080/alfresco/webdav) and
connect

Create two folders: test-move1 and test-move2.

Create a text file in test-move1 named move.txt with some short text in
it.

Select the file in nautilus and type Ctrl-X.

Navigate to test-move2.

Move the file by typing Ctrl-V.

Observed behaviour:
A multi-request move operation is executed.

GET on test-move1/move.txt
HEAD on test-move2/move.txt
PUT on test-move2/move.txt
...
DELETE on test-move1/move.txt

Expected behaviour:
The move is performed using the WebDAV MOVE command.

By using GET, PUT, DELETE instead of a single MOVE:
- The client must wait for the entire file to be downloaded before it can be
uploaded to the new location. By using MOVE the entire operation may be highly
optimized and performed only on the server.
- Any associated metadata (including versioning) for the file is lost - since
we are in fact creating a new file and deleting the old one.
- There is a lack of atomicity and potentially, data integrity. What would
happen if an update is made to test-move1/move.txt just before the DELETE
happens?

2014-03-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1292021] Re: gconfd-2 is polling every 30 seconds calling periodic_cleanup_timeout

2014-03-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Colin, that's the right package, sorry if my comment confused you. I
was mostly pointing out that gconf is a legacy service, it's still used
by mostly because some code didn't get ported to gsettings/dconf yet.
It's going to drop/stop running at some point, but meanwhile it seems
fine to change the polling delay.

Do you plan to send a patch/do the change yourself, or would you prefer
for somebody in the desktop team to do that?

[Bug 1292021] Re: gconfd-2 is polling every 30 seconds calling periodic_cleanup_timeout

2014-03-26 Thread Colin King
@Sebastien,

I messed around with a concept of a fix, https://code.launchpad.net
/~colin-king/gconf/lp-1292021 - however I'm not sufficiently experienced
to know how to get this fix into the package, so I'd prefer if the
desktop team could handle it for me. Is that OK?

AFAIR, you need the three most recent patches attached to that bug.

And make sure to install the config schema stuff before running.

[Bug 1283966] Re: Looping while selecting the same object is causing the application to die raising a dbus no reply exception

2014-03-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, that's a bug in gedit actually. gedit/gedit-window.c declares the state
property as GFlags:
g_object_class_install_property (object_class,
 PROP_STATE,
 g_param_spec_flags (state,
 State,
 The window's
state,

GEDIT_TYPE_WINDOW_STATE,

GEDIT_WINDOW_STATE_NORMAL,
 G_PARAM_READABLE |

G_PARAM_STATIC_STRINGS));

But gedit_window_get_property() calls g_value_set_enum() on the GValue;
it should be g_value_set_flags().

[Bug 1288241] Re: gnome-screensaver is running twice and prompts twice to unlock

2014-03-26 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Actually, in my case it was apparmor-notify. It was starting via the old
/etc/X11/Xsession.d mechanism which made it start on a different bus.
Moving the autostart to /etc/xdg/autostart fixes this issue for me.
Thanks to Sebastien and Marc for helping me diagnose this. Assigning to
myself-- I'll fix it in the next apparmor upload. If people are still
seeing this issue and they do not have apparmor-notify installed, please

[Bug 590243] Re: Add blank screen now option

2014-03-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
The problem with this suggestion is, what if you wanted to lock the
session *and* blank the screen? Would you have to choose Lock first,
and then Blank Screen Now from the lock screen? That would be too much
bother. Or would just choosing Blank Screen Now lock the session as
well? Being next to a Lock item would make it seem like it didn't,
even if it did. All that, plus the cognitive burden of an extra item in
the menu.

The solution is much simpler: Lock should always blank the screen
*and* lock the session. This is no burden: when the time comes to
unlock, any keypress or touch of a pointing device will wake the screen.
And this is why, when locking is disabled, the menu item is still there
but says Start Screensaver instead.

[Bug 1232299] Re: Compiz doesn't undo profile change after processing upgrade

2014-03-26 Thread Ryan Tandy
I've been poking at this a bit. This change makes the bug go away when
using the ini backend, but not gsettings. I'm not sure whether there's a
separate bug in the gsettings backend, or whether this change is
incorrect. I'll put some more time into it when I can. Hoping to get it
fixed for trusty.

Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the

might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system

10.1.0-1ubuntu1 is available

is available
libdrm-intel1 version 2.4.52+git1402191830.c5de5a~gd~s required, but 2.4.52-1
is available
libglapi-mesa version 10.2~git1402270730.51fc09~gd~s required, but

3.8.4-0ubuntu3 is available
libgl1-mesa-dri version 10.2~git1402270730.51fc09~gd~s required, but
10.1.0-1ubuntu1 is available

is available
libxkbcommon0 version 0.3.1+git20130619.6f06eb59-0ubuntu1~13.04~ricotz0
required, but 0.3.1-2 is available
libdrm2 version 2.4.52+git1402191830.c5de5a~gd~s required, but 2.4.52-1 is

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.
