[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2014-04-02 Thread Kom-Si
One more rather unpleasant discovery: 'Delete' button stopped working.
The button itself is OK, I checked. It's all the new keyboard settings,
I guess. Keyboard Layout Chart shows my 'Delete' button as 'Pause'. And
there's no way I can change keyboard type (I have a mini, without Num
pad).

[Bug 1301291] [NEW] incoherent keyboard binding

2014-04-02 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Public bug reported:

Currently the following keyboard bindings are active by default

Shift+PgUp: Scroll up one screen
Shift+Ctrl+ArrowUp: Scroll up one line (learned this in question 32554)

Similar for PgDown and ArrowDown. This is obviously incoherent. I
suggest to make it Shift+$actionkey and drop the Shift+Ctrl+$actionkey
in all cases.

[Bug 1301312] [NEW] Gedit window resized on save

2014-04-02 Thread August Karlstrom
Public bug reported:

If the width of the gedit window is less than 529 pixels it is enlarged
to this width when saving a document. I use Lubuntu 13.10 with the
default GTK theme and the Blackbox window manager.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Gedit

2. Resize the window so that its width is less than 529 (in my case I
cannot make it narrower than 488 pixels)

3. Save the document (Untitled Document 1).

What happens: The width of the Gedit window is enlarged to 529 pixels.

What I expect: Unchanged window geometry.

[Bug 1242678] Re: evince cannot render some EPS files

Till, it seems like ghostscript upstream suggested that the /Orientation
use is buggy there, if that option is used by libspectre should that be
consider a bug there and should be changed to use '90 rotate' or such?

[Bug 1301447] [NEW] evince displays only first page of certain PDFs

2014-04-02 Thread Steve Chadsey
Public bug reported:

I have recently found that evince 3.6.1 (3.6.1-1ubuntu) will only display
the first page of certain PDF files. I can open the files in Adobe Reader
XI under Windows 7 Enterprise. In this manner I can confirm that the
documents have more than one page.

Evince properly handles the majority of PDF documents that I come across.
It appears that the files that evince thinks have only 1 page are PDF
version 1.7 according to file(1).

Here is an example. The Manuals for HP 6125XLG Ethernet Blade Switch
document listing [1] on hp.com lists several PDF files. HP 6125XLG
Blade Switch Installation Guide [2] opens correctly and evince shows
it has 33 pages (which Adobe Reader agrees with). Firefox has saved a
temporary copy of it, and file(1) shows:

  $ file /tmp/Download-2.pdf
  /tmp/Download-2.pdf: PDF document, version 1.6

The R2306-HP 6125XLG Blade Switch Command References document [3]
opens in evince, but evince shows that it has only 1 page (see file
evince-onepage.png). Adobe Reader shows that it has 15 titles of
various lengths. The first title, About the HP 6125XLG Blade Command
Refernces is 8 pages.

file(1) for this pdf shows:

  $ file /tmp/emr_na-c03933238-1-3.pdf
  /tmp/emr_na-c03933238-1-3.pdf: PDF document, version 1.7

Perhaps it is these composite PDF files that evince can't handle.

[Bug 1301479] [NEW] Have to input password twice

2014-04-02 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Public bug reported:

gnome-screensaver 3.6.1-0ubuntu11

Ubuntu trusty installed fresh from beta2, amd64, and kept updated ever
since.

In trusty, whenever the desktop is locked, I have to input the password
twice to unlock it.

At first, it looks like everything is ok after the first password
prompt. You type the password, the screen unlocks and you get to your
desktop. But for just about 1 or 2 seconds. Then all on its own it locks
again, and you have to type the password one more time.

I tried using ubuntu-bug to file this bug report, but it crashed:
$ ubuntu-bug gnome-screensaver

[Bug 1301544] [NEW] cannot boot with latest systemd updates

2014-04-02 Thread Julien Aubin
Public bug reported:

Hi,

With latest systemd updates with cgmanager support, system won't boot if
/usr is mounted on a different partition from /. The reason (that you
can see when booting system in failsafe mode and trying to launch dpkg
or anything and seeing that system is complaining) is that the system is
trying to load library libcgmanager.so.0 while udev is not fully started
and mountpoints not completely mounted.

Workaround consists in copying libcgmanager.so.0 and
libcgmanager.so.0.0.0 from /usr/lib/x86-64-linux-gnu to /lib/x86-64
-linux-gnu and everything is fine again.

This regression was introduced when fixing bug 1297363

[Bug 1291365] Re: gnome screensaver locks again shortly after unlocking

2014-04-02 Thread Ali Najafi
I tried some different conditions with Screen Turn-off time-out and Lock
settings, and I found the problem is not for the lock delay time, but
for screen turn-off.

When you manually lock the screen and thescreen turn-off time-out passed, you
will get the blank screen after unlocking; because the Unity lock screen has
prevented the screen to go blank.
So if you have “never” for screen turn-off, or unlock before the time-out
reaches, you won’t see the bug.

I try tu reboot in recovery mode and moun manually /usr partition, but if I do
it, the system does not starts correctly.

I've also tried to start with an old kernel, but does not work

Finally I moved all files of /usr partition tu root partition and rename it,
and system starts correctly.
I think it happens becouse I have a separated /usr partition, but I don't know
how package creates this problem.

[Bug 1301451] Re: System doesn't start correct if it has a separate /usr filesystem

2014-04-02 Thread Quinn Balazs
Systemd (through the auspices of the linux system itself) require that
/usr be present and mounted by the time it is started. The easiest way
to circumvent this issue (other than just moving /usr back to the
rootfs) is to create an initramfs that essentially will hide from the
system that /usr is split off and not pre-mounted. Systemd isn't the
issue here, there isn't a way to reliably bring up a modern system with
an empty /usr. There is little hope that this will be supported so your
best bet will be creating an initramfs that will mount /usr on top of /
before init is started. See http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd
/separate-usr-is-broken/ for some more information on this issue and the
reasons its pretty unlikely to be fixed. Going to set this as affecting
systemd and wait for someone else to make the call on whether this
really constitutes a bug.

[Bug 1291365] Re: gnome screensaver locks again shortly after unlocking

2014-04-02 Thread Ali Najafi
If we can call it workaround, one simple is here to prevent re-lock:

DISABLE “lock screen after screen turns off” or as the matter of security SET A
TIME-OUT instead.
(As you know it’s possible through System Settings Brightness and Lock)

After then you WILL face the blank screen after unlocking, but NOT the
lock screen again.
