[Bug 1030207] Re: Rhythmbox stops playing near the end of an MP3 track
I probably would test it and let you know, but: 1. I only use Rhythmbox on my new computer in another room now. 2. Rhythmbox seems to be quite resource-demanding, so it works much better on a computer with a couple of Intel Xeon E5 processors and 32GB of RAM than this old clunker with one Pentium 4 and 3GB of RAM. That computer uses Ubuntu 13.04, instead of 12.04. 3. My music collection resides on an external hard disk which I leave plugged in to the computer. 4. [Bug 1299829] [NEW] keyboard for Bambara not usable : name in evdev.xml points to Malayalam.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I am dong research in africa, languages, I have little knowledge about Linux/Ubuntu. I have been implementing bambara keyboards for Windows and Mac OSX (with Ukelele). A year ago I noticed that I could not use the keyboard for Bambara, apparently it was giving access to a strange asian language. Since then, my Ubuntu computer is updated regularly, it now runs Ubuntu 13.10 I spent a lot of time yesterday, I share what I found : 1) the in rules/edvdev.xml for this keyboard is "ml" this code is actually the one for a language called Malayalam, spoken in Kerala, south of India. Nothing to do with West Africa, and it's this language alphabet which is displayed when a user selects the Bambara keyword. I changed it to "bm", which is the ISO 639-1 code. (I changed also the ! layout section in evdev.lst) 2) the "ml" file in symbols is actually for Bambara! Some of the keys defined are obsolete, it does not align with the keys used by other SIL.org keyboard, but it is for bambara. I copied this file into a file called "bm" and renamed "ml" as "ml-old" I updated the bm file to align it to the SIL standards. This fixed it... only partially : the Malayalam keyboard does not display any longer when I select Bambara. I does now display the bambara keyboard. But : it still displays the one defined in the old "ml" file, not the one I corrected in the "bm" file!!! I messed up, restarted several times, to no avail : still the old obsolete keyboard. The only thing that works is that I can now use the keyboard variant which is defined in my "bm" as "French (Mali, alternative)" with my new keys definitions. When I add the basic "Bambara" keyboard, it displays the old layout. In the drop down list of keyboard at the top right of the screen, it is there... but greyed out. "French (Mali, alternative)" is OK for my personal use, but my objective is to make it available generally as "Bambara". Please help. Of cours I'm OK to supply the "bm" file Jean-Jacques, Paris ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment saucy -- keyboard for Bambara not usable : name in evdev.xml points to Malayalam. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1299829 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1303310] [NEW] Screensaver isn't triggered right after the first boot
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi all, as previously posted on Ubuntu-Bugsquad ML: I noticed that on a fresh boot the screensaver will not be triggered, may be because no user is already logged so there's no such policy enabled.[0] Now, the downside of this behaviour is that computers turned on and awaiting for users to be logged in will stay indefinitely with their monitors/screens on, wasting energy and degrading the hardware. Nowadays it's a common practice in public institutions and companies to shut down every device that's not running any critical service mostly for two big reasons: a. security measures and b. to cut energy and hardware waste to save money. The problem is that on next morning when staff turns on the systems again the machines will keep their screens on all the time until coworkers or general public - like on a public library - arrives. I could think of several workarounds like adding a cron job or even something simpler, an 'at' command to every /etc/rc.local to instruct to `xset -display :0 dpms force off' at a given time to ensure the monitors will be properly off after system boot until users arrive, but I would prefer to stay away from any non-necessary hack if there's an official, supported way to do this. Thank you very much! [0] I'm guessing here, I'm not familiarized with Ubuntu's internals... [Bug 1247259] Re: rhythmbox unresponsive every few seconds
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected saucy third-party-packages ** Description changed: Since I updated to 13.10, rhythmbox is not usable.
