[Bug 1314820] [NEW] locale date-time format not displayed in 14.04-nautilus
Public bug reported: ubuntu 14.04's version of Nautilus has omitted a critically important feature for a File Manager to have: ISO date-time format. In ubuntu 12.04's version of nautilus an ISO date-time setting was offered in the Preferences Display tab ( dconf-editor setting existed as well). MAKING MATTERS WORSE: 14.04 Nautilus does not even display correct date-time format when the locale is set to one that defaults to the international standard [e.g., System Settings > Language Support > Regional Formats = English (Denmark)] Ubuntu's file manager should display the international standard for date-time format. [Bug 882307] Re: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken
I am having this issue in 14.04. I have actually nautilus-dropbox in case it matters, I did not test without dropbox. Reproduction: 0_ open nautilus, go to some file. 1_ F2 key to edit name 2_ Ctrl+c to copy the name 3_ Esc 6_ F2 key to edit name again at this point the problems begins: (nautilus:9723): Gtk-WARNING **: Inserting action group 'ClipboardActions' into UI manager which already has a group with this name 7_ Ctrl + c (this is probably doing nothing because the action is "unhooked" by now due to the previous problem 8_ Ctrl + v (nautilus:9744): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_clipboard: assertion 'gtk_widget_has_screen (widget)' failed (nautilus:9744): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_clipboard_request_text: assertion 'clipboard != NULL' failed Thoughts: _This could be related to transitioning from GtkAction to GAction. _Something is being done to the copy/paste actions when pressing F2; probably disabling them and reenabling them afterwards; it seems someone is assuming that adding the actions back will simply update them, but it is not happening that way. My 2 cents. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882307 Title: [list-view] After copying text from a rename entry, file copy menus items are broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/appmenu-gtk/+bug/882307/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1314723] Re: gnome-panel crash
** Description changed: gnome-panel crashes infrequently (about every 2 weeks) for one user. This user has 4 panels, one with the menus and clock, one with the window switcher, one with launchers, and one with the virtual desktop switcher. After the crash, logging out or rebooting, then logging back in results in gnome-panel settings reverted to defaults. The user must recreate his 4 panel configuration. I have scoured the web for anyone else with this issue, but have found nothing. It may be important to note that the user's home directory is on a mounted NFS share. /var/log/syslog shows the following: Apr 29 15:34:23 milner2 kernel: [ 178.563806] gnome-panel[2264]: segfault at 2036a6544a ip 7f8602dfed9c sp 7 fffeefe7c40 error 4 in libgobject-2.0.so.0.3200.4[7f8602dcd000+4d000] Apr 29 15:34:26 milner2 gnome-session[2175]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-panel.desktop' killed by signal - ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gnome-panel 1:3.4.1-0ubuntu1.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-60.91-generic 3.2.55 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-60-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.6 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Apr 30 11:57:07 2014 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120424.1) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US LANGUAGE=en_US: SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-panel UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + + SegvAnalysis: + Segfault happened at: 0x7f8602dfed9c : mov (%rax),%rbp + PC (0x7f8602dfed9c) ok + source "(%rax)" (0x2036a6544a) not located in a known VMA region (needed readable region)! + destination "%rbp" ok + SegvReason: reading unknown VMA + SourcePackage: gnome-panel + Stacktrace: + #0 0x7f8602dfed9c in g_type_check_instance_cast () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgobject-2.0.so.0 + No symbol table info available. + #1 0x7f85f882f72b in ?? Specifications are one thing, but there needs to be also something providing the functionality. While KDE's Klipper is run by default, I'm rather sure it doesn't implement this, I have no idea about other desktops, but IIRC GNOME has never really officially included a clipboard manager, so it's a question of how many users would have it there.
[Bug 1314641] [NEW] Options Number of elements & thumbnails set for local folders but are active for remote folders as well
Public bug reported: On Debian wheezy - Nautilus 3.4.2 On Ubuntu 14.04 - Nautilus 3.10.1 Both the options "Show Thumbnails" & "Show number of elements" are set to "Local folders only". What you expected to happen - When I mount a davfs or cifs remote folder, only shown folder names without the number of elements inside the folder and for the images, their file names with generic thumbnails. What happened instead --- When I mount a davfs or cifs remote folder, thumbnails are created for images and pdf and the number of elements is showed. For folders with lots of images, pdf or dir & subdirs, it takes really a long time to show its content and it consumes lots of unnecessary process on the server. [Bug 1292209] Re: Locking screen does not work in case of fullscreen gnome-terminal
It happened again now (up-to-date 14.04 LTS now): screen started to fade out after pressing CTRL-ALT-L, then it stuck in the middle of process, I can move the mouse, but I can't do anything neither with mouse or keyboard. What helped: switching to text console (CTRL-ALT-F1) login, then killing gnome-terminal. After that, I can switch back to X.org (ALT-F7) and I see the unlock screen now. However of course this is not an ideal solution, and I lost all of my (tons of ...) gnome-terminal windows. Again: it seems it happens sometimes, if I press CTRL-ALT-L when I have a fullscreen (not maximized, but full screen) gnome-terminal on the current workspace. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292209 Title: Locking screen does not work in case of fullscreen gnome-terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1292209/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly
The workaround from #21 does not work for me too. I think I found a way to reproduce the bug. - I use two layouts, US and TR - other layout options: - - `switch to next source using: Shift + Super L` - - `switch to previous source using: Shift + Ctrl + Super L` - - `allow different sources for each window` - - `new windows use the default source` (EN is the default source) - I change layout to secondary layout ( TR in my case ) - everything is normal until I `alt+tab` to another window - then the layout goes back to US - If i rapidly press `alt + tab` between two windows the keyboard layout randomly switches between US and TR -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246272 Title: Keyboard layout changing randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1246272/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1261060] Re: sometime empathy chat dialogs open empty/with a negative unread count
Hi Chris, Thanks for your efforts. I've installed 3.8.6-0ubuntu9.1, and unfortunately it's inconclusive. For me (as with others), the error occurs when I have no chat window open with the correspondent and I am sent a new message. In this case, the main list of contacts shows the "flashing light" (there's also no integration with desktop notifications, so I don't get the "blue envelope", but that might be an unrelated bug). When I click on the contact with the flashing light, I still see the "(-1 unread)" in the title bar. However, whether the message shows up seems to be a bit random. The first time I tried it, the messages appeared. This was with three messages, so maybe the later ones had some kind of "flush" action that caused the earlier ones to appear. The second time I tried it, I saw nothing in the window. The name of the contact showed a "white speech bubble" showing that there was an unread message, but there was no message. The title bar said "(-1 unread)". The third time I tried it, it worked (I saw the new message). However, the (presumably) previous message was visible. Interestingly, it's not "styled" in the same way: it doesn't appear in a little speech bubble with colours, but is instead plain unstyled black and white text. Hope this is useful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1261060 Title: sometime empathy chat dialogs open empty/with a negative unread count To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/1261060/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
