[Bug 961338] [NEW] Filters not working

2014-05-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In some special scenarios the filters are not working, steps to
reproduce:

1) Open the dash, go to apps lens, click the "Filter results", so that the
filters pane is shown.
2) Close the dash.
3) Use the lens shortcut to summon the dash (Super+A) for apps lens.
4) Click on any of the filters - the result set will not change (unless you
switch to a different lens view and back).

This can be reproduced using any lens, not just apps (when using proper
shortcut).

[Bug 1262068] Re: nvidia-prime should support gdm also

2014-05-20 Thread Rob
I spent some more time and was able to get things working on my machine,
so I though I'd share how. Note this is definitely a hack but it works
and perhaps Alberto or Tim could give directions on a temporary fix that
is less hacky while we wait for the official fix to be posted somewhere.

1. In /etc/gdm/Init/Defaut, add the line /sbin/prime-offload right
before the exit 0. Or better, write your own script to call "Default"
and then run prime-offload.

2. Unlike older version of nvidia-prime, newer versions don't appear to
generate an xorg.conf file. But with my hack fix, it still needed when
in "nvidia" mode. So after I do a "prime-select nvidia" I create an
xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/ with the following contents:

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "layout"
Screen 0 "nvidia"
Inactive "intel"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia"
Driver "nvidia"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "nvidia"
Device "nvidia"
# Uncomment this line if your computer has no display devices connected to
# the NVIDIA GPU. Leave it commented if you have display devices
# connected to the NVIDIA GPU that you would like to use.
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "none"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "intel"
Driver "modesetting"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "intel"
Device "intel"
EndSection
##

Then reboot for nvidia mode. Note that when you want to enable intel
mode, you'll need to remove this file and reboot.

Like I said, a total hack but it enables nvidia mode for me which is all
I needed for now.

One other issue I saw was that the /etc/init/nvidia-prime.conf has some
specific use of lightdm. Whatever it's doing there, I guess it needs to
do for gdm as well.

2014-05-20 Thread Santeri Savonlahti
I removed all other input methods than Finnish keyboard using ibus-setup
(where only US layout was shown as an input device). Problem occured
again and checked ibus-setup: Finnish keyboard layout was not an option
as an input device anymore, US layout had made a comeback as the only
option.

After restarting shell Finnish keyboard is still there, but as a second
option after US.

[Bug 1320540] Re: Print options should be saved per printer across sessions

2014-05-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The Ubuntu team has some capacity to fix issues/improve its
softwares/help upstream, it doesn't mean we can/want replace upstream
and do most of the work on the softwares we are distributing. You don't
have to report to their bug tracker, but it increases the odd that
somebody is going to look at your problem, it's also a needed step for
change to upstream code (even if the Ubuntu team comes with a fix, we
are going to upstream it because we don't want to carry the change in
Ubuntu only, there is no reason they should not benefit other users)

[Bug 1314904] Re: Remote publishing does not work in GNOME/XFCE on trusty

2014-05-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks Jim. Having another build of shotwell without those changes is
mostly up to the derivatives (e.g Ubuntu GNOME), they can maintain a
package/build for that if they feel the need. If I were in that team I
would just add UOA as a depends, since it's an infrastructure component
in Ubuntu, but that's not my call

[Bug 1314904] Re: Remote publishing does not work in GNOME/XFCE on trusty

2014-05-20 Thread Jim Nelson
So, first: If the users install ubuntu-online-account, does that fix the
problem for them? If so, we should communicate that to them.

As far as easy solutions, if adding back the dependency is off the
table, then my only other suggestion is to distribute an unmodified
version of Shotwell (or, at least, w/o the UOA plugins and w/
Shotwell's). I suspect that's also off the table, in which case I don't
have any suggestion other than more code changes, i.e. a warning dialog.

[Bug 1320540] Re: Print options should be saved per printer across sessions

2014-05-20 Thread Daniel Betschart
Upstream Bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=730467.

Sometimes I ask me why I report bugs to Ubuntu, if I have to report the
bug to upstream also. If upstream does not fix the problem, Ubuntu
should have the chance to fix it and to make Ubuntu better. If this is
not the case, Ubuntu is not better than upstream. I understand this for
software not in the main repository, but for Evince, which is in main?

[Bug 1320016] Re: gnome-settings-daemon-localeexec is not started on login

2014-05-20 Thread Agusti Dosaiguas
I've done some debugging: http://askubuntu.com/questions/465412/how-
can-i-debug-why-gnome-settings-daemon-localeexec-is-not-started-on-login

My findings are that gnome-settings-daemon receives a SIGTERM when I
login, shutsdown and it does not start again.

I understand that this is not the intended behaviour. Should the SIGTERM
be sent to gnome-settings-daemon in the first place? If so, why isn't it
started again?

I've attached the syslog with gnome-shell debug enabled. You can see
gnome-settings-daemon starting, but not dying.

[Bug 1321373] [NEW] Image Viewer shows colors more subdued

2014-05-20 Thread JohnBokma
Public bug reported:

When opening the same JPEG image in Gimp, Firefox, Shotwell and the

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Red_capsicum_and_cross_section.jpg

If I open this image in Chrome on an iPad it looks similar in color to

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-05-20 Thread Mr Lee
Another update... I've lost the connection twice now. It works for a
couple days, then breaks. Now I'm at the point where Blueman doesn't
even find the device. I've been playing with it--reversing, repeating,
reinstalling--but I can't get it back.

Bearing in mind that I know next to nothing about this sort of thing, it
seems to be Python-related. I use Quodlibet (written in Python), and
one time the Bluetooth speaker connection seemed to break immediately on
closing Quodlibet.

[Bug 1239087]

2014-05-20 Thread Phillip Susi
FYI, when you unbind the scsi disk driver by writing the 1 to the delete
knob in sysfs, it takes care of issuing the synchronize cache and
start/stop unit commands. You can see this in dmesg. You mentioned the
usb mass storage driver, which I would not have thought of. I'd bet
that is the issue. My guess is that most drives appear to work because
they shut off their LED when given the STOP UNIT command when the scsi
disk driver unbinds, but if the usb mass storage driver is still bound,
some drives decide to keep the LED on.

We can change the string to "Send" in utopic, no in "trusty" (neither

So you mean that the string will be updated in trusty-proposed, but in
trusty-stable will be "send via mail". Or it is unable to name it send
because it will corrupt the work of smth? Could you clarify this
sentence, please, I can't understand clearly :)

[Bug 1314904] Re: Remote publishing does not work in GNOME/XFCE on trusty

2014-05-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Jim, I can bump the setting to high if you want but I doubt it's going
to make a difference.

I don't think anyone on our side is going to have the free slots, this
cycle, to make the publishing work without ubuntu-online-account. In
those conditions the obvious fix would be to add back the
depends/recommends that got dropped, but the Ubuntu GNOME remix team
didn't want of that depends ...

Do you see any other easy solution to the issue? (I guess we could work
on adding a dialog telling users "you need to install UOA to use that
feature", that shouldn't be that much work)

I use Ubuntu 14.04 and this bug still present. If you can, please fix
it. I use Alt+shift and this combination does not work with other keys
in programs.
