[Bug 1327754] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon slows or prevents gnome-flashback session logout
Public bug reported: If gnome-keyring-daemon is running, selecting "logout" from menu in a gnome-flashback session (Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty) will not log out, but hang (or it is possible that it becomes extremely slow). Killing gnome- keyring-daemon before the clicking logout button will solve the problem. The gnome-keyring package version is 3.10.1-1ubuntu4 and it is from the main repository. The Samba developers are pretty adamant that this isn't a bug in any version of their software. They place the blame for this problem squarely on the shoulders of Iomega, Zyxel, and anybody else who modified their code for their NAS boxes. The problem, apparently, is that newer versions of Samba hit servers with multiple requests at the same time, and for some reason the Zyxel and Iomega boxes can't handle this. That's all well and good, but when I 'apt-get install gnome-session- flashback' and restart I see nothing but the same text login prompt, and there's no indication of what should be installed to have this session actually launch. To me, that brings up the notion that dependencies be set so the package can "provide a significant amount of functionality." Surely there's something gnome-session-flashback can depend on (even indirectly). Why not an "or" list if X11/Wayland is what is Depended upon. Or, if there's nothing to Depend on, how about at least mark as Suggests or Recommends the package/packages that would launch this session. Do I need to install GDM/LightDM to launch this? I barely know what LightDM is, and that's why I'd want the package to tell me what I need to use it. I have a Canon PowerShot S95 and it is not detected either in Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. It used to work in previous ubuntu releases. Have to eject the SD-card from the camera and use my laptop to import the pictures and then use a usb-stick to copy them onto my desktop PC. [Bug 1327910] [NEW] gnome-disks should display a copyable disk UUID
Public bug reported: I needed to get the UUID of my swap partition (to compare and/or supply it to the `swapon` command). So I ran Ubuntu `disks`. When I click my swap partition, Disks shows some useful info about the partition (which I can copy, yay, but only field-by-field, boo!). But the panel doesn't show the device UUID. It should. As a poor workaround, if I choose gears icon > Edit partition, the dialog has a Type drop-down with "Linux Swap (0657fblah-blah-blah)" in it. But I can't copy that, so I have to retype it, which is silly on a computer. The advanced workaround is to root around in /dev/disk/by-ThisAndThat. This problem remains in Ubuntu 14.04. Pressing F1 in the Disks window now brings up some help (yay!), but GNOME Help » Hardware » Disks & storage » "Manage volumes and partitions" is light on details and says nothing about these icon badges. Besides giving these badges a tooltip, the panel underneath showing partition details (e.g. Size, Device, Partition Type, Contents) should also show the star and play triangle icons, each followed by the textual information that the icon is supposed to convey. To correct myself, the UUID in gears icon > Edit partition > Type dropdown "Linux Swap (0657fblah-blah-blah)" seems to be the UUID for the type of partition, not the partition found on disk.
