[Bug 1263088] Re: search, next doesn't change pages when needed

2014-06-17 Thread Brian Norris
This issue is still present on trusty (14.04). I've built the patch from
post #8 (with some slight tweaking to the debian packaging info, to get
dpkg-buildpackage to complete successfully), and it looks to work OK.
Thanks (other) Brian!

Any chance we can get this merged?

Re: [Bug 1330942] Re: Gimp does not open pdf

2014-06-17 Thread pvanb
Not only that, when upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 I had a complete clean
install of my Linux (for unrelated reasons). But just to make sure,
after that I did purge and install GIMP again to make sure.

[Bug 1296275] Re: PTP Cameras not working on 14.04, works flawlessly on 12.04

2014-06-17 Thread Nick Rhodes
Hi,

I have a 2nd machine with a clean install of 14.04.
I did a full update and verified the bug still exists.
I downloaded and installed
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgphoto2/2.5.3.1-1ubuntu2.2/+build/6106218/+files/libgphoto2-6_2.5.3.1-1ubuntu2.2_amd64.deb
 via dkpg
Plugged my camera back in and worked first time.

Could others please test ?

[Bug 1296275] Re: PTP Cameras not working on 14.04, works flawlessly on 12.04

2014-06-17 Thread Scott Cowles Jacobs
For what it's worth, I solved my problem with the Kodak EasyShare Max
X990 with the fix in comment #44, and after a reboot, it auto-detected
and appeared in Nemo, and the "disk with photos has been detected, what
should I do?" window came up.

Interestingly, it appeared twice in the Devices section of Nemo - one
with each of the main two folders (store_00010001 and store_00020001,
the first of which is the only one with pictures, the other only has
sub-folders containing text files with "SQLite..." in them).

2014-06-17 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Árni, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libgphoto2 into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgphoto2/2.5.3.1-1ubuntu2.2 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

I tried it with various pdf files, including a pdf file created in GIMP.
Never works.

And yes, I am sure, it started a few weeks ago when I was still using

problem persists.

It might be a specific problem on my system, I don't know. But I have
not clue how to find out where the problem is.

This is not LibreOffice’s bug.

This has to do with the whole X server architecture. Deep level stuff.
An historical issue in Linux distros using X.

Citing Michael Meeks (from bug 48783):

“The X clipboard system relies on the app owning the selection to
provide the data; if you close the app - that app isn't there; so it
will fail.”

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/11334 for boring details and
funny rants.

[Bug 11334]

2014-06-17 Thread Jay
Bjorn has stated there is a workaround for this and i think it should be
implemented as other apps are also using the workaround. I dont think
linux users should be penalized by X's issue with the clipboard.

[Bug 1330935] Re: Nautilus error when unmounting locations

2014-06-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1330942] [NEW] Gimp does not open pdf

2014-06-17 Thread pvanb
Public bug reported:

Trying to open a pdf file gives the message (after selecting 'all

It is possible though to export an image as pdf.

specific change or update in other packages other than the regular updates from
Ubuntu repositories) and persisted after a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 and

[Bug 1330935] [NEW] Nautilus error when unmounting locations

2014-06-17 Thread Gabor Toth
Public bug reported:

I have opened remote server location with Nautilus and the opening and
handling worked all fine. Then I have unmounted the location by
clicking the "unmount" sign next to the location on the left tree panel.
The unmount worked fine, as expected, however when I moved the mouse it
was moving a folder that was under the mouse right after the unmount
like I would have grabbed that folder.

I did not grab the folder but by clicking on the unmount and after the
unmount got executed and the location disappeared from the tree view and
mouse grab was executed and even though I was not holding down any of
the mouse buttons it looked like I was grabbing one of the folders. By
hitting ESC I have cancelled the action and all went back to normal.

It can be reproduced every time on my system.

I have Ubuntu 14.04 installed (upgraded from 13:10) with all updates
installed and running on a Dell Inspiron 17R with 8GB RAM and a 120 GB
SSD.

[Bug 1330894] [NEW] "Value Propagate" dialog's "Propagating rate" spinbuttons are much too quick

2014-06-17 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Public bug reported:

gimp 2.8.10-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu 14.04

1. Select an area.
2. Choose "Filters" > "Distorts" [sic] > "Value Propagate...".
3. Using the spinbuttons, try to change "Propagating rate" to 0.50.

What happens: If you hold down the up spinbutton, the propagating rate
near-instantly changes to 1.00. If you hold down the down spinbutton,
the propagating rate near-instantly changes to 0.00. This makes the
spinbuttons pretty much useless.

What should happen: The spinbuttons change the value much more slowly.

The other fields in the dialog do not have the same problem.

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2014-06-17 Thread M4he
@Ajay: That's a rather subjective opinion! Search will always get slow on huge
folders. Because of the technical nature of type-ahead it is still fast even on
huge folder contents. When I use type-ahead it takes me less than 1 second to
choose and enter a folder.
I know my folders and their subfolders, I'm dependent on the speed of
type-ahead because I use a chain of multiple letter and enter key strokes to
navigate through many folders in a second. If type-ahead would be replaced by
search, the speed of search results would depend on the folder's content size
and I would not be able to use my quick chain of key strokes anymore due to the
irregular response time of the search.
I admit, this is a rather subjective opinion as well! But type-ahead has been
there for years, it is also integrated into the file managers of OS X or
Windows and into the majority of the Linux ones. Your solution mentioned might
be an improvement for _some_ people. But that doesn't mean it should replace
type-ahead. It could be added as an optional feature that can be activated
within the settings. Linux software in general is about configuration &
customization - not about claiming you know what is best by forcing your
opinion on others and killing features. The latter is exactly what happened to
nautilus and why we have this long discussion here.
