[Bug 1376530] [NEW] GTK apps crashing with "Attempt to unlock mutex that was not locked"
Public bug reported: Attempting to run some GTK apps (e.g. pyrenamer) on 14.10 results in an immediate crash, with the message "Attempt to unlock mutex that was not locked". https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735428 seems to be the relevant upstream bug, and there is a patch here: https://github.com/GNOME/gtk/commit/79c3ff3c4ed74bbcc820dac2d5180fa4d48d55ec To some extent, this seems to be the result of individual projects using GTK incorrectly, and some fixes have been made to those individual projects. *However*, I am also seeing this bug occur in a closed source third party application, Stata 13. As Emmanuele Bassi mentions in the Gnome bug thread, there are probably a lot of applications out in the wild affected by the same issue, that in some cases cannot be fixed, so it would be good if a fix could be included in the versions of GTK that Ubuntu ships. I tested Xubuntu 14.04 for a couple of days, and there the background of the icons is transparent. So it doesn't covers this much of the screen. [Bug 1339352] Re: [FFe] Update to 3.12
** Description changed: Upstream is 3.12.4, Debian is 3.12.4-1, Ubuntu is 3.8.6-0ubuntu12 + + empathy 3.12 brings in many bug fixes over 3.8.6 that is currently in + utopic, this update was somehow overlooked earlier however it does not + use GtkHeaderBars and CSD's so from a UI perspective would be fine for + ubuntu-desktop. + + We have had this release on the gnome3 ppa's for the best part of a + cycle and there are no major issues with it. In the last few days a few + of the -desktop team have played around with it also and not found any + critical issues. ** Attachment added: "upstream NEWS file" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1339352/+attachment/4221225/+files/NEWS -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1339352 Title: [FFe] Update to 3.12 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-themes-standard/+bug/1339352/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
