I just copied a 1GB trusty live CD from my local computer to a davfs-

longer see it now, none of the gvfs-related processes were consuming
more than 40MB. I still run trusty, I verified the upstream patch is
indeed applied. So, yes, this is fixed. I believe you are seeing
something else. I suggest you open a new ticket with similar

 Status in GVFS:
   Fix Released
Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu:
   Fix Released

 Bug description:
   Binary package hint: gvfs

Copy video files from my Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS with 16GB SD Card is a
 very hard problem.
It uses about 1 or 2 times the file dimension that you are copying.

   I have 2GB of memory (1GB RAM + 1 GB SWAP) and I can't backup some
videos because they are too big.

Also copying files from the computer to a media device (camera,
smartphone etc) is broken for the same reason.

Re: [Bug 1310965] Re: rhythm box overwrites track information

2014-10-06 Thread martin.wheatman
Hi Gordon,

I'm not so sure this is a bug, and I need to revisit the bug report.

I've checked out the headers within the MP3 files (something like):
od -a track.mp3 | head -50

This shows that some of the tracks do contain the wrong information;
however, file (track.mp3) hasn't been updated since 2011 - long before I
upgraded to 14.04. This would suggest that the file has always been
incorrect, but the old rhythmbox seemed somehow to display the correct
information.

However it got the correct information is not working. Maybe it would
be nice to have a cddb look up function in rhythmbox to update any old
tracks like this?

My ability to rip CDs has degraded, do you get that too?

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2014-10-06 Thread Superman ha Muerto
SOLVED (at least in my case).

What I've done:

Open system settings - language support

In my case, appeared a message indicating that some installation was
missing, and if want to do it now. I did.

After that, I've checked the language tab and the regional format
tab. In my case they contained mixed data: the system was configured in
english, but the language appeared to be spanish. In the regional
formats, the same: spanish as the date and currency configuration: I've
changed both to english and restarted.

Apparently this solved the issue.

[Bug 989484] Re: system does not suspend automatically

2014-10-06 Thread spark
I have this problem too on ubuntu gnome 14.04 . A 10 minute suspend time
is just way too short. Is there another fix or way of extending to half
an hour or more?

[Bug 1378151] [NEW] Commands not saved to .bash_history when a leading space is present

2014-10-06 Thread Craig Hume
Public bug reported:

If typing a command in gnome-terminal that contains a leading space,
that command is not in the scroll back history and not saved to
.bash_history. The command is executed as expected.

An example as follows
$ date
Tue Oct 7 11:09:23 EST 2014

but no scroll back history exists.
After closing gnome-terminal and opening again, the command is still not
present in .bash_history or the scroll back.

[Bug 1323434] Re: Awful memory leaks when using image editing software

2014-10-06 Thread EliCoten
For reference I've posted a related question to see if I can do some
more investigation myself here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/533052
/how-to-find-and-report-memory-leak

Meanwhile it seems to be shared memory that is leaking so I'm wondering
if it is actually a problem in the X Server or graphics driver?
(Although it's only drawing applications that seem to suffer from the
problem).
