Re: [Bug 1384250] Re: Issue with windows not displaying in Ubuntu Trusty 14.04

2014-11-01 Thread Jon Irwin
Steps:

Open LibreCalc - ok
Open spreadsheet with data - ok
Highlight data - ok
Click on DataPivot Tablecreate - ok
Select source window appears - ok
Click on OK for current selection - ok
LibreCalc then frosts over as the pivot table window should be front of
screen and accessible.

All I can do now is use Alt + Tab to preview this window and shut it
down.

Hope this is useful.

 Title:
Issue with windows not displaying in Ubuntu Trusty 14.04

Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu:
   New

 Bug description:
I've got a Lenovo All-in-One pc and recently upgraded from the
   previous long term distribution.

I've hit on the following problem. When a sub-window of say Firefox is
called up, the window loads, and I can see it in the quick scroll
function that it has loaded. However, I can't then access this new
window. I can close it down using the open window tab function.

With Gimp, this means that I can't currently use it. With Librecalc
when I tried to do a pivot table I can't access the options window
that loads up with the command options, although I can see it
scrolling through the open windows with Alt+Tab.

Seems to be an issue irrespective of the programme I'm trying to use.

Grateful for any help you can offer. I did try to use apport but that
crashed when I was trying to submit it.

incomplete upgrade? Please try sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-
get -f install to clean up. If that still does not work, please
copypaste the output of apt-cache policy udev libudev1.

[Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2014-11-01 Thread Sascha Heuterer
Hey guys, I've written a script
https://github.com/Anachron/scripts/blob/master/display.sh which I
invoke at the startup of my system
https://github.com/Anachron/scripts/blob/master/startup.sh , which
checks the system every second for changed display settings. (It will
generate a list of attached screen devices and compare to the old list)
If a change has been detected, it will check what displays are used and
will setup a predefined behavior.

This works pretty well! Whenever I attach/detach screens from my pc, it will do
as it says.
Also, the interval of 1 second may be overkill for you, but it doesn't need any
CPU power (under 1%) and it seems very smooth.

You should run the command xrandr before using/modifying the display script to
get a list of possible devices that you can use.
That's what always bothered me with linux, and that's my solution.

I hope you enjoy!

[Bug 1388478] [NEW] gnome-terminal does not change window title after returning root account

2014-11-01 Thread if.gnu.linux
Public bug reported:

If a user change user to root via sudo su command then exit root account
by writing exit, gnome-terminal does not change window title to default
one or profile's preferred title.

Steps to produce bug:
1- Open gnome-terminal - title of the terminal shows user's preferred title
like Terminal or if@machine_name
2- sudo su - title of the terminal changes to root@machine_name
3- Exit root account by exit command
4- Title of the terminal remains root@machine_name

What I expect to happen:
1- Open gnome-terminal - title of the terminal shows user's preferred title
like Terminal or if@machine_name
2- sudo su - title of the terminal changes to root@machine_name
3- Exit root account by exit command
4- Title of the terminal should change to user's preferred title like Terminal
or if@machine_name

[Bug 1387708] Re: [TOPBLOCKER] Location services not getting location

2014-11-01 Thread Loïc Minier
To test whether the low-level HERE stack gets a location, put
http://people.canonical.com/~lool/espoo-cli on your phone (will be included
along HERE bits in the future) and run with:
chmod a+x espoo-cli
GLOG_logtostderr=1 GLOG_v=100
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/custom/vendor/here/location-provider/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf
./espoo-cli 5

NB: 5 is the number of location updates after which the tool exits; updates
should come in at approx 15s interval. Output looks like:
I1101 21:30:01.285964 4403 cli.cpp:117] Requested number of updates is 2
I1101 21:30:01.299002 4403 cli.cpp:133] Starting location updates
I1101 21:30:01.301888 4403 cli.cpp:141] Starting GLib main loop
I1101 21:30:11.304612 4403 cli.cpp:158] Location: tstamp=1414891811 lat=xyz
long=foo hor. acc.=2569 alt=nan vert. acc.=nan tech=cell
I1101 21:30:11.306061 4403 cli.cpp:170] Remaining updates: 1
I1101 21:30:26.736821 4403 cli.cpp:158] Location: tstamp=1414891826 lat=xyz
long=foo hor. acc.=2824 alt=nan vert. acc.=nan tech=cell
I1101 21:30:26.738348 4403 cli.cpp:148] Stopping location updates

This worked for me on mako and krillin with respectively latest vivid
and rtm from yesterday (139); however I did manage to get a general
error in one case on krillin, seemingly because I started this when the
device was still booting.

Interestingly, I get tech=cell for krillin and tech=wifi for mako,
despite both being on the same table; this suggests these dont have the
same wifi and/or cell visibility.
