[Bug 1310003] Re: The program 'gnome-session-properties' is currently not installed

2014-11-02 Thread Tim
gnome-session-properties is not deprecated (although it will come back
in proper ubuntu packages for Vivid).

similar functionality is provided by gnome-tweak-tool now.

[Bug 1387282] Re: bluetooth devices are missing when booting with systemd

2014-11-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Steps:
- Adjust our udev rules to call path_id for rfkill devices also under upstart
- Adjust rfkill upstart jobs to call lib/systemd/systemd-rfkill load/save, so
that both init systems use the same state files. These include the path_id
under systemd, so that needs to be consistently available.

Computer/usr/share/applications folder.
Right click on theapplication you want added
Select "Copy to..."
Click on "Desktop"folder onleft side of panel
Click Select button.

Done.
more complicated than drag and drop from the launcher, but fully effective.

[Bug 1388623] [NEW] Nautilus window leaves icon on the screen

2014-11-02 Thread dangyogi
Public bug reported:

The Nautilus application will leave an icon on the screen when you start
to drag a file and then press ESC to cancel. This icon is not attached
to the Nautilus window and persists on the screen even when Nautilus is
closed. The icon also appears on all workspaces when multiple
workspaces are enabled. This icon is always on top of all other
windows, so gets in the way of other work.

The only way that I know how to get rid of these icons is to log out and
log back in again.

[Bug 1380848] Re: Apps and services use large amount of CPU after unity8 resets

2014-11-02 Thread Thomas Voß
We should assign this bug to an overarching component/project as
multiple independent services (media-hub, location-service, dbus-daemon)
are affected.

However, one idea that came to my mind: It might be that a spurious
posix signal is causing these issues, probably a SIGHUP somewhere,
arising on a thread that the respective signal is not blocked on. I will
keep on investigating into that direction.

[Bug 881376] Re: "Low disk space" warning popping up repeatedly.

2014-11-02 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
I also confirm that this is still a problem in 14.04.1. Although in my
case it started to be a problem recently.

I had two partitions excluded already from popping those messages and
they were quiet. But for some reason when I reached low disk space on
another partition they also started to bug me with low disk space
messages.

The curious thing is that if I check "Don't show any warnings again for
this file system" and then press "Ignore" the messages will display
endlessly for all the partitions with low disk space. But if I just
click "Ignore" for the first partition that display low disk space
dialog then I won't get any more such messages (it will end on that
one).

[Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB

2014-11-02 Thread zzarko
As time goes by, my 14.04 64bit instalation performs worse and worse
when doing anything with USB discs (flash or HD, doesn't matter).

If I start to copy a big file from/to flash USB, started programs
usually work to a degree (if they don't require access to HD), but if I
try to start something simple, like a terminal, during this, it will be
started AFTER the copying was finished.

Similar thing happens when copying from/to USB HD, only not as severe as
with Flash USB discs (the system is somewhat less laggy).

This is something that was frequent in my win xp days and after I
switched to Linux in 2005 I tought that something like this is waaay
behind me. Now, newer versions of Ubuntu are again showing me the joys
of system lockup while working with USB discs.

[Bug 896595] Re: Ubuntu does not remember LID brightness

2014-11-02 Thread Jingguo Yao
After recovering from screen dimming, the brightness is set set maximum
for my case. For this problem, I follow the instructions in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight. After adding
"acpi_backlight=vendor" kernel parameter, the problem is fixed.

But during the boot of Ubuntu, I still get the following error message:

thinkpad_acpi: Unsupported brightness interface, please contact ibm-
acpi-d...@lists.sourceforge.net.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit with a Thinkpad T440S.

This still happens on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. I am using Thinkpad T440S.
The following workaround works for me:
