[Bug 1355966] Re: [FFE] Implement AbandonScope (etc)

2014-11-04 Thread Martin Pitt
This is not Debian bug #756076. That is about cleaning up "closing"
loginctl sessions after logging out (which I implemented in upstream git
now). But this bug is about actually killing the leftover background
processes in the cgroup and the logind session if KillUserProcesses=yes
is set in /etc/systemd/logind.conf. (At least how I understand it).

** Changed in: systemd-shim (Debian)
   Importance: Unknown => Undecided

** Changed in: systemd-shim (Debian)
Remote watch: Debian Bug tracker #756076 => None

** No longer affects: systemd-shim (Debian)

** Summary changed:

- [FFE] Implement AbandonScope (etc)
+ KillUserProcesses=yes does not work under systemd-shim

** Description changed:

+ When enabling KillUserProcesses=yes in /etc/systemd/logind.conf, user
+ background processes and logind sessions aren't actually being
+ killed/cleaned up after logout. This works fine under systemd, but not
+ under upstart with systemd-shim.
+
+ = Original report =
+
Currently, logout produces the following error in upstart systems:

systemd-logind[15351]: Failed to abandon scope session-c7.scope
systemd-logind[15351]: Failed to abandon session scope: No such interface
'org.freedesktop.systemd1.Scope' on object at path
/org/freedesktop/systemd1/unit/session_2dc7_2escope

Whlie the cgroup is being autoremoved when empty, the more important
bug is that StopSession won't forcibly kill the cgroup. These methods
should be added at some point.

I should have read "had xmodmap generate a new .Xmodmap" instead of
"Made the system…".
I still wonder why I could not find this by myself.

I'll try. Thanks a lot for sharing.

[Bug 1348384] Re: evince and okular do not render eps files correctly resulting in a black background

2014-11-04 Thread Christopher Mendillo
Thanks Edouard,

Yes, I can confirm that appending the "showpage" command to my eps files
causes them to be rendered correctly by evince and libspectre. From what
I can tell reading the latest EPS standard
(https://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/ps/5002.EPSF_Spec.pdf),
as you say, showpage is allowed in eps, but should be redefined by
programs that import eps. evince libspectre should do so in order to
display correctly formatted eps files that lack the superfluous showpage
command.

2014-11-04 Thread Willem Hobers
Hey Tim

Thanks for your advice. I did not realize I have ppa packages installed.
But you are very likely right. Just one question, if I may: one of the
first messages the "normal" upgrade process gives is that it will "block"
the third party software sources before starting the upgrade process. In
this case that also happened. Should that not have made the upgrade
possible, just like purging the ppa's would? Just a n00b question...

[Bug 1325252] Re: file-roller crashed with SIGSEGV in open_progress_dialog_with_open_destination()

2014-11-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sebastien Bacher, thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I've
mistakenly not provided an example document, and no longer recall the
click-for-click reproduction scenario.

As an update has been provide to file-roller since then, and I've not
reproduced it unzipping various ZIP files, let us close this for now. If
I can reproduce it in the future, I'll be sure to include the file.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1389336] [NEW] Use geoclue-2.0

2014-11-04 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

Geoclue2 (source package geoclue-2.0) is a separate, parallel-
installable version of geoclue1 (source package geoclue). We will
likely shortly have both in main (see MIR bug 1388294) and it would be
great to be able to demote geoclue1 to universe and only support one
version of the service.

The packages associated with this bug all have a reverse depends on
geoclue1 in some form or patches to remove support for geoclue-2.0
because it wasn't in main yet (e.g. gnome-settings-daemon).

Porting from geoclue-1.0 to 2.0 apparently isn't terribly trivial. But
we have at least six months to do it.

[Bug 1389250] [NEW] Location updates stop when screen is locked for a bit

2014-11-04 Thread Loïc Minier
Public bug reported:

Hi,

1. start one or more location using apps; see that they get location updates as
you move around
2. lock your screen, wait 30s
3. unlock screen, none of the apps get any location update anymore
4. kill and restart one of the location using apps, all apps now get location
updates again

Our location-service/platform-api/qt/etc. stack should resume location
updates after locked screen / sleep.

Cheers,

[Bug 1361906] Re: gvfsd-ftp crashed with SIGABRT in g_mutex_unlock_slowpath()

2014-11-04 Thread Jean-Philippe Fleury
I solved this problem by updating gvfs (version 1.20.2-1ubuntu2 on
Ubuntu 14.10) with a newer version (1.22.1-1) from Debian Unstable.
Steps:

- Install the package "debian-archive-keyring":

sudo apt-get install debian-archive-keyring

- Add the following line at the end of the file "/etc/apt/sources.list":

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib

- Refresh repositories:

sudo apt-get update

- Update gvfs:

sudo apt-get install gvfs

- Delete or comment the line previously added in the file
"/etc/apt/sources.list".

- Refresh repositories:

sudo apt-get update

[Bug 1387219] Re: Mouse pointer disappears and cursor stops blinking

2014-11-04 Thread Michael Lindman
I installed libgtk-3-0 v 3.14.4-1 which removed ubuntu-desktop any some
other applications. I then reinstalled the missing applications,
restarted my computer and the problem with gedit was fixed but the
libgtk-3-0 package was listed as broken and the package management
system wouldn't let me install new software so I reverted libgtk-3-0
back to 3.12.2-0ubuntu15 and the problem with gedit is still fixed. I
hope this helps with finding a solution as wouldn't recommend anyone
trying what I did to fix it as I have no idea how or why it happened and
I wouldn't want anyone to break their system.

[Bug 1389218] [NEW] Print multiple pages fails

2014-11-04 Thread RJoshua Preis
Public bug reported:

After update to Ubuntu 14.10 the "multiple pages on on sheet" function
does not work well.

When I tray to print multiple pages (for example 4 pages on 1) i does
not work . The page shows then only every 4 page in the left top corner.
It looks like that the other 3 pages are over jumpt.

If i use "print to file" or a other printer makes no difference.

I use evince 3.14.1 with the germane translation.

[Bug 1389209] [NEW] In home lens categories are automatically turned off

2014-11-04 Thread vanadium
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.10
Release:14.10

  Installed: 7.3.1+14.10.20141016-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 7.3.1+14.10.20141016-0ubuntu1

Seemingly randomly, categories in the home lens are turned off
automatically. On a subsequent search, results from that category are
not returned. When the user presses to clear the search window,
the default categories are enabled again.

Opening "Filter results" in the Dash allows to follow the status of the
categories.

Detailled description of the problem:

- Both my "Applications" and "Files&Folders& categories are open
- projects: after a short while, many files and folders appear. however,
I notice that "Applications" is being disabled.
- firefox: rather than having the familiar firefox icon appear, I see a
few files (that presumably have been downloaded with firefox). Indeed, even
while the typing erased the previous search term, "Applications" continues to
be disabled, and thus is not searched from the home lens. Pressing and
then retyping the query re-enables the Applications lens again.

Expected behaviour: as soon as a new query is entered, all Categories
should be re-enabled. Typing "firefox" from the home lens always should
reveal the firefox icon, unless the user actively chooses to disable the
Applicationa category.

I have the impression this happens when there are many results from one
single category. e.g I can reproduce this typing the name of one of my
folders, e.g. "Projects", under my "Documents" folder. Such a query
presumably retrieves all files with "projects" in the path name. At that
point, other lenses appear to be dissabled, and unfortunatelly remain
disabled when the user enters a new query.

[Bug 1389200] [NEW] Type ahead discards first character

2014-11-04 Thread vanadium
Public bug reported:

Nautilus apparently clears the keyboard buffer sometimes, e.g. when
moving to another directory. If the user is using type ahead rather
rapidly, as power users do, the first character typed while a nautilus
window is opened or while switching to a new folder is discarded.

Steps to reproduce

Type a few letters of a folder in the current directory, press
then immediately continue type the name of a folder underneath. If the
folder is opened for the first time in the session, and if the folder is
larger, opening the folder will take a tiny bit of time. However, the
first character the user was already typing may have been discarded.

Expected behaviour: user keystroke should not be discarded but be used
when nautilus is again ready to accept keyboard input.

Description:Ubuntu 14.10
Release:14.10

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu15
  Candidate: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu15

Same here. Gedit is practically unworkable. When editing text files the

[Bug 1389159] [NEW] Clicking on search results doesn't take you to the corresponding page

2014-11-04 Thread Alberto Salmerón Moreno
Public bug reported:

When searching inside a PDF document in Evince, a side panel opens with
the results found (updated live while typing the search string). Each
search result item shows a bit of text and the page number.

When clicking a search result, Evince should take you to the
corresponding page. Instead, Evince does nothing, so you have to go to
that page manually.

It used to be the case that the current page also jumped to the first
search result (if the current page does not have any), but not anymore.
I guess these two bugs are related.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open PDF document with Evince
2) Click on search button (or press Ctrl+F)
3) Type some text expected to be found in the document
4) Click on one of the search result items on the side panel

Expected result:

5) Evince shows the page in which the result is found

Actual result:

5) Evince does not change the page that is currently showing.

[Bug 1387131] Re: Cannot change evince key bindings

Hi

Since I'm refering to the latest stable version of Gnome's documentation:
https://help.gnome.org/users/evince/stable/shortcuts.html.en
wich is, by the way, the documentation that I'm redirected to when I go to
"Help -> Help -> Keyboard Shortcuts" in Evince 3.10.3 (latest) itself, I don't
see how this can be outdated...

Can you please redirect me to the supposed-to-be more valid & current
documentation? (and correct the redirection in Evince's "Help->Help"

[Bug 1316508] Re: Evolution EWS forgets default folder settings

2014-11-04 Thread Ian Redfern
Problem now fixed and can no longer reproduce.

evolution-ews_3.12.7-1
evolution_3.12.7-0ubuntu1

Ubuntu 14.10 AMD64

Draft Messages and Sent Messages folders now stay as On This Computer
rather than changing every restart, and this has been working for over a
week.

Note that to solve another crashing problem I deleted my folders.db,
installed the debug versions of the Evolution packages and moved all the
messages out of my local Sent folder - no idea if these actions affected
this bug.
