[Bug 1132700] Re: gnome-terminal = 3.7 requires sourcing of vte.sh login script
I'm not sure what 'supported' means in this context, but I guess it's something like the core/default packages of Ubuntu (e.g. config tools, default desktop including gnome-terminal etc.) as opposed to the additional software (e.g. other vte-based terminals). Am I right? I understand that the former category is more important, and that supporting two parallel versions is not ideal. On the other hand, blocking update of these components until all of them has a vte-0.38-based version released doesn't sound even worse to me. The weren't too many API changes, so for Ubuntu-maintained software the transition could probably be made really quickly. The bottleneck is of course apps that are not Ubuntu-specific. What really sucks is those apps that still use Gtk+2/vte-0.28, this ancient version of Vte contains dozens of severe bugs that were fixed in the mean time. (vte-0.36.3 is the first one I personally feel good about :)) However, at this point there's nothing we could do to urge them porting to Gtk+3. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1114379 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1114379 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132700 Title: gnome-terminal = 3.7 requires sourcing of vte.sh login script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-terminal/+bug/1132700/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1390068] [NEW] Gedit crashes when editing a file
Public bug reported: I am using Linux Mint (I don't know if I should report bugs here or somewhere else). After upgrading to Qiana, gedit has become very slow, in particular after long sessions of editing Prolog files, and seems to be very slow in finding matching brackets. I don't know if this can help, but I noticed that the bracket matching tries to match the symbols less than and greater than as if I was editing an html file; maybe it gets confused and finds too many unmatched '' symbols? Occasionally, it crashes. This happens rather often, but non- deterministically. This is the message I got: (gedit:6314): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gedit' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro'. (Details: serial 3222167 error_code 16 request_code 18 (core protocol) minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Thank you! [Bug 1377258] [NEW] /etc/default/rcS: UTC=no: Utopic time is off by 4 hours after boot
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Every day for the couple of several weeks when booting into Utopic the time is off usually by 4 hours. I went to time and date settings and the ability to check get time Automatically from the internet is greyed out. [Bug 1377258] Re: /etc/default/rcS: UTC=no: Utopic time is off by 4 hours after boot
Actually, option 1 would be to keep util-linux as-is and instead patch systemd to read the is hwclock local? from /etc/default/rcS instead of /etc/adjtime. slangasek | pitti: again, my concern is that reinstating /etc/adjtime is going to cause people to start misusing hwclock --adjust slangasek | which per Scott's analysis during the upstart implementation, we should not be doing ever I don't have much detail about why it's bad, but that seems to indicate that we should keep the UTC setting as it is for now, and keep the delta. ** Package changed: util-linux (Ubuntu) = systemd (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377258 Title: /etc/default/rcS: UTC=no: Utopic time is off by 4 hours after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1377258/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Even though you are probably seeing: appmenu-gtk is already the newest version. You're probably running on a 64-bit distro. Try installing the 32-bit library: $ sudo apt-get install appmenu-gtk:i386 and the messages like: 'undefined symbol: menu_proxy_module_load' should disappear. Also, 'sudo apt-get install --reinstall gtk2-engines-murrine:i386' will probably fix the 'Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: murrine' messages. Public bug reported: Orignally running Ubuntu 14.04 and upgraded to 14.10.
