Still looking for a solution on this. I'm Xubuntu 14.04 an I know that it was possible to type ñ using AltGr+N before. Seems odd to me that this bug is a low priority. The results are pretty poor UX. We would like to ship this for Ubuntu GNOME, however I suspect that Ubuntu and the other flavours that ship totem, probably won't want these changes.
