[Bug 1394253] Re: Bluetooth discoverability confusing

2014-11-28 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
After force-closing System Settings and relaunching it, there is a tiny
pause the first time I visit the Bluetooth screen, but none on
subsequent occasions, and none when I exit the screen. So the timers
aren't working. The checkbox animation is probably bug 1276066.

This doesn't require any design work: the spec already spells out that
there should be a one-second pause between entering the screen and
starting discoverability, and a one-second pause between stopping
discoverability and exiting the screen.

[Bug 1397316] [NEW] GObject signal functions make python apps crash

2014-11-28 Thread Monsta
Public bug reported:

Calling GObject signal functions (signal_handlers_block_matched,
signal_handlers_unblock_matched and others) in a python app makes it
crash. This bug has been fixed upstream for some newer versions of
pygobject, but the older version (3.2.2-1~precise) in Ubuntu 12.04 is
still affected.

The test app (which crashes in Ubuntu 12.04) is in the attachment.

Please fix it. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 231385] Re: EOG opens images with 99% zoom (blurry) instead of 100%

2014-11-28 Thread pabouk
There is a new bug report specific to Ubuntu 14.04 / 14.10: bug
#1296487

Could you please vote (and subscribe) there?

---
@Rasmus Graver: Why not just make the window 2px bigger to fit the image on
100%.

Because the difference is not always 2 pixels. Try to change the theme
to High Contrast - the bug will not show up. Try to disable the toolbar
in EOG - the bug will not show up. ...and anyway adding two pixels will
not be a correct fix and the problem would probably manifest different
ways in the future.

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2014-11-28 Thread Mekk
Scanning via this bug I also noticed, that in dconf-editor
desktop/ibus/general/ has some ugly values:
- engines-order is ['xkb:us::eng', 'xkb:pl::pol']
- preload-engines is ['xkb:pl::pol', 'xkp:pl(intl)::(null)']

I can play with those but I am not sure what do they mean.

Where can one read about ibus-settings ? Looks like GUI configuration
not quite saves what I click, so I am OK with configuring those
manually, but would not like to do it blindly…

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2014-11-28 Thread Mekk
As my case is slightly specific, let me describe it too. I use specific
variant of Polish keyboard - pl(intl) instead of default pl (it is
simply much better considering extra symbols). This variant is
configured in unity settings (I finally removed all other keyboards from
there), while fighting with the problem I also configured it in
/etc/default/keyboard.

Since I updated to 14.04, at chaotic moments (at least a few times a day
but I did not spot any rule yet), my layout silently switches back to
'pl'. Whenever I spot it, I issue setxkbmap 'pl(intl)' and get my
keyboard back ……… for some time. And again, and again. Thing is not
login/reboot related, one of my machines works continuously for weeks
(and presents me this problem every day). I experience it both on
„normal Unity desktop” and on somewhat specific machine with
Gnome+Awesome.

I noticed that ~/.dmrc (I have no clue what it is and where it comes
from, I checked it as it was mentioned above) has WRONG layout
(Layout=pl without variant)

It may be of importance (someone above mentioned mixed language
settings), that I have LANG=en_US.UTF-8 (and other locale similarly).

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly

2014-11-28 Thread Mekk
As I googled out http://osdir.com/ml/ubuntu-bugs/2014-05/msg08453.html
let me also mention that I had „use-system-keyboard” disabled.

And short summary from my side: we have many sources of possible
keyboard settings (~/.dmrc, dconf-editor settings,
/etc/default/keyboard, keyboard settings in Xorg, maybe more). Those
can be edited by various means (different preferences dialogs, *conf-
editors, gsettigs) and it seems some of those happen to be generated
from some others at not-so-clear (for me) moments by not-so-clear (for
me) apps. While the system is executing, one can impact keyboard via
setxkbmap or similar APIs, by keyboard switching shortcuts/panels and -
it seems to me - by some background processes (IBUS?)

The result is that I have completely no idea where my settings are taken
from, what impacts them and why do they change and when.

The bug as such looks like an effect of some inconsistency between those
various settings.

Debugging it in detail could be hard, but if somebody clearly described
what is the INTENDED priority of all those settings, it could be
possible to examine whether it is respected.

[Bug 1382843] Re: corrupted double-linked list

2014-11-28 Thread Janne Moren
This may be the same bug I hit all the time since upgrading to 14.10.
Shotwell is all but unusable right now. The situation is the same. It
seems to happen in these cases:

* I try to upload things to Flickr and it starts opening the upload dialog;
* It uploaded, but then I try to remove the flag on the selected picture with
ctrl-g;
* Once it died just from trying to scroll the image list.

But the message I get is somewhat different from above. One of these
two, generally:

*** Error in `shotwell': free(): invalid size: 0x10fa7eb0 ***
Avbruten (SIGABRT) (minnesutskrift skapad)

*** Error in `shotwell': malloc(): memory corruption (fast): 0x11b6a290
***
Avbruten (SIGABRT) (minnesutskrift skapad)

It happens with the latest version as of today (0.20.2), and the
previous version. I've attached a backtrace and a log.

** Attachment added: gdb backtrace and log

[Bug 1397486] [NEW] gfvs freezes nautilus after switching networks

2014-11-28 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

To replicate:

1. Connect to a SFTP or Samba share via nautilus.

2. Change networks, eg by suspending and resuming in a different
location or by manually forcing a change to a network. For instance, I
change from a 10.1.1.x network to a 192.168.10.x network and back again.

3. Open nautilus.

The expected result is that nautilus should open immediately.

The actual result is that nautilus does not open for some minutes.

The workaround is to manually kill the gvfsd-smb and/or gvfsd-ssh
processes. So there is some timeout issue in gvfs that is freezing
nautilus. If the gvfsd-* processes cannot see the mounted shared drive,
this should not prevent nautilus from functioning properly.

This is an issue in both Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10
Package: gvfs 1.20.2-1ubuntu2
