[Bug 1226962]

2015-01-07 Thread Kendy-m
This bugreport got non-actionable in the meantime I am afraid; we should
close it as per comment 33, because fixes of 2 problems were already
provided, and also the information about the "Ignore system input
language" seems to be helpful.

If there are still trouble with the shortcuts, please file that as
separate report, and provide the following information:

* your locale / language settings
* your desktop environment, and its version
* LibreOffice version
* try also with the latest LibreOffice 'fresh' version, and tell if it is still
  present there
* if it is affected by Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages
  -> Ignore system input language
* exact reproduction steps (in the affected locale)

Thank you all for the reports and fixes!

The problem seems to be that certain new pdf files

As a wild guess it might be related to 256 bit AES encryption.

[Bug 348522] Re: gvfsd-gphoto2 copies files to RAM (unsuitable for really large files)

2015-01-07 Thread Craig McQueen
The memory usage seems to be proportional to the size of the files
copied. When I copied 370 MB of files, according to 'top' the gvfsd-
gphoto2 memory usage in RES column at the end was 420 MB. Memory is
freed when I unplug USB. So a workaround is to copy only a few 100 MB of
files, then unplug USB, then replug and resume.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. Package gvfs-backends is version
1.20.1-1ubuntu1.

[Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)

2015-01-07 Thread Kirils Solovjovs
** Please change the status of this bug to Confirmed

I can confirm that this is still happening in Utopic.

My story is same as Ritberg's.
After I connect via VNC to my vinagre daemon the io usage slowly (during approx
20 hours) climbs to 100% and the system proceeds to hang while excessively
writing to disk. strace shows that dconf-service is writing
/org/gnome/desktop/peripherals/keyboard/numlock-sate on and off all the time.

This might help to diagnose the bug:
Setting /org/gnome/desktop/peripherals/keyboard/remember-numlock-state to off
immediately fixed this issue for me without any additional side effects. I
recommend shipping default installations with this flag to off.
Please note that the device in question is Aspire V3-551G and the built-in
keyboard does not have a num lock led.

Original djvu file

While investgating the problem of evince taking an hour and twenty
minutes to print the attached djvu file, it was discovered that if it is
printed to a PS file it prints quite quickly, but then using ps2pdf to
convert the .ps file to a .pdf file takes 1 hour and 17 minutes.

Running the "top" command while the ps2pdf conversion is in progress
shows that gs from the ubuntu USER is at the top of the list with 100%
use of one of my four CPU cores (single CPU state/separate CPU states
can be toggled by pressing "1" while top is running). SHaRed memory was
fixed at 3776 KiB, while VIRTual memory size and RESident memory size
steadily increased to over 10 KiB each after 10 minutes and
continued to steadily increase to over 20 KiB before the conversion
completed after 1 hour and 17 minutes.

Unless I am mistaken, gs is ghostscript. This occurs on Ubuntu 14.04
"Trusty Tahr" with ghostscript 9.10~dfsg-0ubuntu10.2 and on Ubuntu 14.10
"Vivid Vervet" with ghostscript 9.14~dfsg-0ubuntu4.

The resulting .PS file is too big to attach here, so you will have to
generate it using Evince.

Some further comments by Till Kamppeter:

"Sending the PostScript file directly to a native PostScript printer, for
example using the command

nc -w1 9100 < Grammar\ 4.ps

leads to a printout in a reasonable time (2-3 pages quickly one after
each other, then 5 seconds pause, 2-3 pages again and so forth).

This means that the PostScript file produced by evince is awkward, but
GhostScript is really TOO slow, meaning that there is room for
improvement/fixing in Ghostscript.

Independent of this, the djvu software used by evince needs improvement,
too, first it should generate better, easier to process PostScript, and
second it should be able to directly convert djvu into PDF, as PDF is
THE standard format for printable documents under all operating systems
(please consider reporting an upstream bug here, too."

[Bug 1399047] Re: Update gnome core packages to 3.14

2015-01-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-shell - 3.14.3-0ubuntu1

---
gnome-shell (3.14.3-0ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (LP: #1399047)
  * Drop git patches included in new release

  [ Jackson Doak ]
  * Merge from debian. Remaining changes:
- debian/control.in:
+ Recommend gdm instead of gdm3
+ Add Recommends on network-manager since this
is required for network panel to work.
+ Depend on gnome-session which due to package
split now contains only the session files
- debian/patches/ubuntu-lightdm-user-switching.patch:
+ Allow user switching when using LightDM.
- debian/patches/ubuntu_lock_on_suspend.patch
  + Respect Ubuntu's lock-on-suspend setting.
- source_gnome_shell.py: Now we have upstart user sessions most
logging goes into the gnome-session-GNOME.log, so add this to the
  apport hook.
- debian/patches/revert_new_bluetooth.patch: revert changes requiring Bluez5
  * debian/gnome-shell.gsettings-override: Replace iceweasel with firefox

not existing on debian, check if the user is member of the "sudo" group
instead (Closes: #760722)

  [ Andreas Henriksson ]
  * Update debian/gnome-control-center.pkla with what is currently listed
in upstreams panels/common/gnome-control-center.rules since we don't yet
have/depend-on policykit-1 >= 0.106 which means the rules file is still
unused. This fixes automatic time/timezone, etc.

[Bug 1382843] Re: uoa publishing on flickr, corrupted double-linked list error

2015-01-07 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Mike, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libsignon-glib into utopic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libsignon-
glib/1.10daily13.06.25-0ubuntu3.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 525161] Re: sometimes it's never print out any page and hangs on

2015-01-07 Thread Till Kamppeter
Sending the PostScript file directly to a native PostScript printer, for
example using the command

nc -w1 9100 < Grammar\ 4.ps

leads to a printout in a reasonable time (2-3 pages quickly one after
each other, then 5 seconds pause, 2-3 pages again and so forth).

This means that the PostScript IS awkward, but GhostScript is really TOO
slow, meaning that there is room for improvement/fixing in Ghostscript.

Independent of this, the djvu software used by evince needs improvement,
too, once it should generate better, easier to process PostScript, and
second it should be able to directly convert djvu into PDF, as PDF is
THE standard format for printable documents under all operating systems
(please consider reporting an upstream bug here, too.

[Bug 678421] Re: Error message for a faulty ~/.profile script

2015-01-07 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Egon, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gdm into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/3.10.0.1-0ubuntu3.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 998491] Re: window icon does not work with all dialogs

2015-01-07 Thread Roald Fernandez
This isn't really a bug, as far as I understand it.

The documentation might be a bit confusing, but it says that the
parameter --window-icon sets the "window icon". Which is exactly what it
does. However, this icon isn't usually shown (though you can confirm it
has been set using `xprop`), which gives the impression that perhaps
this parameter should allow to change image in the
info/warning/message/question dialogs.

In fact, the TODO file lists this as one of the future tasks:

* Would be nice to have an option to use your own icon in the
info/warning/message/question dialogs
- Suggested by Kevin Krinke

However, if this is to be considered a bug, and that --window-icon should not
only set the gtk window icon, but also the displayed image, then the attached
patch fixes it (for zenity-3.14.0).

** Patch added: "Patch so that window-icon also sets icon in
info/warning/message/question dialogs."

Evince 3.14.1-0ubuntu1 (which uses poppler as it's renderer) prompts for
a password when opening the attached file. Adobe Reader and Firefox
34's built-in PDF viewer can open the file.

The file has been created by a professor and is about Java programming.

Renaming the file to script.pdf and attempting to convert the file with
ghostscript 9.10 via this command:

gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=unencrypted.pdf
-c .setpdfwrite -f script.pdf

gives this warning:

This file uses an unknown standard security handler revision: 6
Error: /undefined in pdf_check_password

GPL Ghostscript 9.10: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

Ghostscript 9.15 now supports the PDF security handler revision 6 - see
http://www.ghostscript.com/doc/9.15/News.htm

Perhaps you can reuse the new ghostscript code?

[Bug 525161] Re: sometimes it's never print out any page and hangs on

2015-01-07 Thread madbiologist
"Print to file" in evince 3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1 on Trusty only has an
option to print to a PS file, so I did this, then ran ps2pdf.

Running the "top" command shows that gs from the ubuntu USER is at the
top of the list with 100% use of one of my four CPU cores (single CPU
state/separate CPU states can be toggled by pressing "1" while top is
running). SHaRed memory was fixed at 3776 KiB, while VIRTual memory
size and RESident memory size steadily increased to over 10 KiB each
after 10 minutes and continued to steadily increase to over 20 KiB
before the conversion completed after 1 hour and 17 minutes.

Unless I am mistaken, gs is ghostscript. The ghostscript version on
Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr" is 9.10~dfsg-0ubuntu10.2. However not that
Christopher's conversion on Vivid also took ~2 hours. The ghostscript
version on Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" development version is 9.14~dfsg-
0ubuntu4

[Bug 1322925] Re: Copy, paste stops working randomly in Ubuntu 14.04 nautilus

2015-01-07 Thread Ahmad Syukri Abdollah
Thanks to Alexander's comment on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/988251/comments/29,
I was able to work out steps to reproduce the bug.

1. Open a Nautilus window.
2. Go to location with write permission
3. Select a file and try to rename.
4. When prompted to rename (filename becomes a text entry), open new tab.
5. Select a file, try to copy and paste. You will see that file is not copied
and pasted.
6. Go back to original tab. If the file that was selected in step 3 is still
selected, unselect it.
7. Try to copy and paste. It should work.
8. Try to rename again, and open new tab.
9. Close old tab, and try to copy and paste. It won't work, and there is no way
to restore, except opening a new window.
