[Bug 1264115] Re: Gedit hangs while searching in large file

2015-01-14 Thread Andre M
THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING, the immediatly starting search function stalls the
program in long files (e.g. I want to search for def, it stalls the program
with searching all d's and so on (gedit gets greyed out) for a minute)
You can add an option to preferences, if user wants immediate search for every
letter you enter.
Please fix this asap.

[Bug 1406807] Re: multiple engeines missing widgets in software updater on lxde

2015-01-14 Thread Rafael Laguna
That dialog works fine in Lubuntu default theme because it has GTK3
support. Those engines you mention are not GTK3, they are GTK2, so the
Update Manager (compiled in GTK3) doesn't work fine with them.

[Bug 1247366] Re: Evolution is missing bogofilter integration

2015-01-14 Thread Paul Smith
I believe this can be fixed with a simple patch to the rules file in the
Evolution Ubuntu package: if we set the BOGOFILTER environment variable
before we run configure then whatever value it has will be used during
the build without checking, and at runtime if the program exists the
plugin will be enabled (and if not it won't be).

** Patch added: Enable bogofilter plugin for Evolution

[Bug 1328381] Re: evolution looses write permission on remote authenticated caldav calendar intermittently

2015-01-14 Thread evobugreporter
I had the same issue (Evolution was not able to sync any calender entry).
After do some killall -KILL evolution* I could solve the issue.

I assume the problem could be related with unavailable owncloud server
during start-up of (Gnome, Evolution, or what services ever).

My owncloud is a test installation (Debian 64 Jessie) my Evolution is on
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (its Evolution 3.10.4).

My owncloud server is not always available (especially not during startup of my
Gnome system).
Restarting Evolution after starting owncloud VM it seems working.

Hopefully this helps others as well and maybe this could be fixed soon?

Hello,
Just to add this remark:
This bug affect eog, file-roller, and others specifics software like that when
you start more than one instance.
It's possible that the bug is not in eog especially but in a shared lib used by
theses programs.

[Bug 1410993] [NEW] Won't launch New Images if Already Open

2015-01-14 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1393227 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1393227

Public bug reported:

The eog image viewer that comes with Ubuntu 14.04 works fine if you
double-click on ONE image from a file browsers.

However, if you navigate to another folder and then double-click on
another image, eog doesn't gain focus like you'd expect, and it stays
minimized on the Unity launcher bar.

Anytime you double-click on an picture-image-file (jpg, gif, png, etc.),
EOG should gain focus and its window should come to the front of the
window stack. Currently if the program is already open, it doesn't
handle new launchings very well.

I think it should either launch multiple instance when you doube-click
on a picture in a different folder, or it should focus and display the
last picture you double-click on from the file-browser.

This might actually be a duplicate of bug# 1385292. That bug documents
IBus as the cause of this behavior, and shows how to workaround the
problem by disabling IBus for keyboard input: System Settings -

[Bug 1411112] [NEW] systemd-journal: Failed to join audit multicast group: Operation not permitted

2015-01-14 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

After upgrading a snappy system from 211 to 219, I'm seeing the
following errors at boot:

[ 88.772405] systemd-journald[704]: Failed to join audit multicast group:
Operation not permitted
[ 88.777304] systemd[1]: Started User Manager for UID 1000.
[ 88.778311] systemd[1]: systemd-journald.service: main process exited,
code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
[ 88.778667] systemd[1]: Failed to start Journal Service.

I've confirmed that a rollback to 211 fixes the problem.

This makes it impossible to debug changes to snappy itself, since snappy
logs to syslog which is only available via journalctl.

[Bug 427100] Re: JPEG2000 thumbnail causes browser to crash

2015-01-14 Thread Pascal Mons
There is definitely a problem with Nautilus and only with Nautilus. No
need to make jasper shoulder the GNOME responsibility.

On Ubuntu Trusty 14.04 I have installed both Marlin and Nautilus / Nemo.

Marlin has no problem previewing JPEG 2000 thumbnails in .j2k or .jp2
format.

However Nautilus [3.10] / Nemo (both) are constantly crashing. e.g.
nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in jpc_qmfb_join_colgrp()

On the command line running jasper is working fine too (Cevennes2.jpg is
coming right from the official website
http://www.openjpeg.org/index.php?menu=samples)

$ jasper --input Cevennes2.jp2 --output Cevennes2-bis.bmp --output-
format bmp

When will Nautilus behave appropriately for JPEG 2000 thumnbails ? This
is dating for years ...

[Bug 1408984] Re: No tool exists to test SNR TTFF on a handset

2015-01-14 Thread John McAleely
@pmcgowan, @olli what's the process for getting this into this week's
milestone? It seems it has sat in canonical-devices-system-image for 4
days without triage?

[Bug 1410765] [NEW] GIMP uses more system resources than necessary

2015-01-14 Thread Jeb E.
Public bug reported:

I am using GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.8.14 on Ubuntu 14.10 x64 on
my AMD Phonom II X4 machine packed with 8GB DDR3 RAM and more than the
recommended amount of SWAP-Space found in multiple locations throughout my PC,
and even though I have all this caching space and more plus a powerful
processor, GIMP still eats my computer's system resources alive even while
doing some quick editing and touch-ups, specifically when using the Heal tool -
The window will freeze up and continue what it's doing in the background, but
for that time being, it won't let me do much besides that.

It has now gotten to a point where GIMP uses so many system resources all at
one time where it locks up my (USB 2.0) keyboard for all apps and won't let me
use the keyboard at all until GIMP is done doing what it is doing.

I have even switched to the LowLatency Linux Kernel to help speed up my PC and
keep only needed background tasks while using minimal RAM.

See below for a HardInfo chart I pasted stating my Operating System
information:

-Version-
Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-29-lowlatency (x86_64)
Compiled: #39-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT Mon Dec 15 22:55:59 UTC 2014
C Library: Unknown
Default C Compiler: GNU C Compiler version 4.9.1 (Ubuntu
4.9.1-16ubuntu6)
Distribution: Ubuntu 14.10

Computer Name: SDB
User Name: jeb (Jeb Eldridge)
Home Directory: /home/jeb
Desktop Environment: Unity (ubuntu)
-Misc-
