[Bug 1406376] [NEW] Can't move to trash in data partition
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a clean install of Ubuntu 14.10. I partitioned my disk into / (20GB) and /data (230GB) partitions. I then created /data/home/ubuntu, moved my /home there, and bind mounted /home to /data/home/ubuntu. I then created symlinks for ~/Downloads, ~/Music, etc... to /data/Downloads, /data/Music, etc... Whenever I delete files directly inside ~/ they seem to go to the Trash (in ~/.local/share/Trash), but when I try to delete files in other folders that are linked to /data (for example ~/Downloads, or /data/Downloads) Nautilus says: "File can't be put in the trash. Do you want to delete it immediately?". To fix it, I attempted to create trash folders with permissions 1700 and chowned to my user in the following places (to no avail!): * /data/.Trash-$(id -u) * /data/.Trash * /.Trash-$(id -u) * /.Trash ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- Can't move to trash in data partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406376 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1404990] [NEW] system monitor wrong if cpu offline
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I observe two faults in the Ubuntu 14.04LTS system monitor: 1. If a CPU is marked offline, the system monitor does not report any higher-numbered online CPUs. E.g.,: a. Run system monitor - it reports 8 CPUs. b. Mark CPU 3 offline, via: echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/online c. Restart system monitor: It now reports only 3 CPUS (1,2,3). The system monitor display not change immediately, so I suspect the immediate failure is caused at system monitor initialization, presumably because it assumes that the first offline CPU indicates the end of CPUs for this system. Which is not true, of course. 2. In the system monitor display, CPUs are numbered 1...N, for an N-CPU system. This is incorrect, because CPUs are numbered from 0, not 1. This can lead to confusion when looking at what particular processors are doing. ** Affects: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- system monitor wrong if cpu offline https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1404990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1411720] [NEW] Nautilus Crash when Displaying /usr/share/pixmaps Thumbnails in Trusty 14.04
Public bug reported: After Upgrading from Precise 12.04 to Trusty 14.04 (Fresh Install + transfer of packages) I can't open my /usr/share/pixmaps folder in Nautilus 3.10. Displaying the thumbnails makes it crashing. Packages : nautilus 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.4 Problem type : Crash Title : nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in FT_Render_Glyph_Internal() Architecture :amd64 CurrentDesktop : Unity That was not the case in Precise 12.04 /usr/share/applications is displayed appropriately. Again, as reported days ago https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1410918 (JPEG 2000 .jp2 .j2k thumbnails crashed Nautilus 3.10), the Marlin File Manager has no problem for displaying these thumbnails. The source of the cause is again GNOME Nautilus 3.10. They seem to do a poor job for displaying thumbnails, although in modern OS(s) this is an essential part of the system and why the Mac OS X is praised by Professional Photographers and others in the multimedia arena. When was this bug's importance last considered? It was opened in 2008. [Bug 1093185] Re: Nautilus browse network broken pipe on AFP after suspend
Same here with Ubuntu 14.04 and DS213J using the default file manager. Attempting to dismount NAS shares that appear in the file manager generally time out. [Bug 667752]
Posted in the downstream bug report by the original bug reporter on 17th September 2014: This problem is still here in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS ... and it has become a serious matter. More and more of my own customers are switching to Ubuntu, which is a positive thing IMO. But with the increasing use of online web-services to handle billing, document exchanges and online-shopping ... more and more streaming-PDF files are being created on-the-fly as everyone is expected to be able to read that particular format. But when people can't read the amount due on an invoice or the delivery-date on a webshopping receipt, because the font-rendering of the pre-installed document viewer in Ubuntu won't display them correctly (or sometimes not at all), it really becomes highly inconvenient for both regular users as well as more experienced user. The Adobe Reader installation package is no longer available in ubuntu 14.04's standard repositories, which was a go-to option for the more experienced user. SO BUCKLE UP PEOPLE, let's see if we can't fix this issue. And hopefully before we use a couple of gigabytes on the web in forum- and chatlogs about the subject of creating temporary fixes and work-arounds of such a basic thing. best of luck to all -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/667752 Title: Non-embedded standard fonts in PDF files are not displayed/rendered correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evince/+bug/667752/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
